Great job with his flip it turned out absolutely beautiful I love the idea of a mountain view on the new bottom that you put on thank you so much for sharing have a great weekend and God bless you and your family
Thanks Jim and Cindy! We lived in the state of Washington for almost 25 years and don't miss the rain but definitely miss those beautiful Cascade mountains during the winter. This piece is a bit nostalgic for us.
Pretty cool ladies! A little texture & deminsion in the snow mountains would add alot to it. But loved the gold leaf separation & the new base, perfect!
You called it! That Lane chest looks like it was made July 15, 1980. So glad you decided to update it. Did you smell the cedar on the inside? Always love that. Also love how both of you work well together. You're almost to 1k subscribers! Can't wait to celebrate. Barry
We didn't show it on video but Dani sanded the interior. That helped bring back some of the cedar smell... . Yep, we are getting excited about hitting 1 K. It's been quite a ride so far, we have hit a few bumps along the way and expect to hit many more and it is all good! We feel very blessed. Thanks, Barry. Dani and I both appreciate you so much.
I know, right? I had one that my Mom gave me when I graduated from high school many, many years ago but eventually got rid of it (before I ever started refinishing furniture). They are perfect for storing all kinds of things and for extra seating. Thanks for watching, Janet! Happy holidays... Sherry
Hi Sarah! You should. I didn't try it but was watching Dani and even though there was a little trial and error time, she really enjoyed it and it gives it a little bling, too.
I always love y'all's Videos and of course this Lanes chest and Both y'all's creativity never disappoints....Y'all's are the best...Merry Christmas ⛄🎄🥰👍❣️

@@debraneria4242 Wow, I didn't know you live so close. And my parents (Sherry''s Mom and Dad) are from Framingham. They moved to CA in the 50's but we still have some family back there. Small world.
I totally love this ladies! How lucky you are to be able to work together. I'm with you on the pocket holes. Still have the beginner set and I'm still not comfortable using it. Nice work❣
Thank you, LaVonne! We are so lucky to work with together and truly appreciate each other (most of the time,,, haha). Dani is trying to find a good deal on an upgraded pocket holer as we think we will be needing to use it more and more with our pieces. Thanks for watching! - Sherry
This looked like it must have been so fun to do! I love your great tips. Thank you. I have a sander that did the same thing and was hoping someone might offer some insight on what was wrong or if it’s fixable.
Hi Michelle, Yes, that chest really was a lot of fun. We ended up getting a new sander but later I heard that sometimes sanders need to get re-calibrated so that may have been the problem. Just not sure how to do that.... Thanks for watching
Oh no, never seen a sander do that before. Wonder if it's a ball bearing off the track or something? Glad you had the backup! The cornstarch tip for picking up leafing, thanks for sharing that. Love this piece, love the decorative detail, the contrast, the base. You two did such a beautiful job! 😍 Mele Kalikimaka! ☃️ (that's my favorite Christmas carol!)
Yeah, that sander thing is weird. We couldn't figure it out so Dani is ordering a new sander today. Dani did most of the work on this project and I love the way it turned out. She didn't like the grain on the pine base (because it doesn't match the grain on the chest) but I did.
@@secondchanceohana No that’s how Lane dates their pieces. Different manufactures markings mean various things. I think it’s fun to be able to tell the date the Lane pieces are made - shhhhh …don’t give away the secret!
Hi, thanks so much for the suggestion. It actually didn't have variable speeds so we decided it was time to upgrade to a better quality one. We got a nice Bosch. May get a Surfprep or a Festool down the road but that will be a while.

That was very good thinking about the lock.
Dani says it is illegal to sell those unless you remove the latch. I never heard that before but I guess it makes sense.
Love it ! Super cozy. Great job ladies 😍
Thanks so much, Jay!!! This was definitely a fun challenge!!!!
This looks great! Never would've guessed it's the same piece. Love the gold leaf!
Thank you, Tammy! It really was a fun project. Happy holidays.
The chest came out beautiful! Well done 😃👍🏽

That base makes such a difference!
Thanks, Amber! Yes, I just love it. Those bases are soooooo much better than the old boxy bases. Happy Holidays, Sherry

Beautiful job guys! The new base, paint and gold leaf make such a difference. Let mum keep it haha ❤️

Haha. Yes, it probably would. Thanks, Lavada!
the date this chest was made was 07/15/1980 :)
What? How do you know that?
@@secondchanceohana On your Lane chest there is a serial number on the bottom. If you read it backwards.... it gives you the date of the piece.
