The game really surprised me. I didn't expect much from it, but afterwards I was just blown away about the ease of play, the fun factor, the production... deserves the KDJ nomination.
I really enjoy watching these four's playthroughs. They let the games remain the focus of the show, but their commentary and occasional sniping is great. You get the feeling they'd pull up a seat for you if you're in town.
I am a new subscriber. I have tried several "Board Game Night" videos from other RUclipsrs, but this is the only one I watched in its entirety. Relaxing group, they explain the game well and entertaining to listen in to the gaming session. Like many others, I like the BGG website, so thankful to have found this complimentary channel.
I have bought Raiders of Scythia first, because thats the one available from the seller. Raiders of North Sea, looks alot more pleasing aesthetically though!
Love your playthrougths, guys! The game looks really nice, the only concern is about replayability, since the first half of the game looked really same-y for all of you. Just gather a lot of resources till you're ready to plunder. Also even though I fully understand why there is a limit of 8 for the viking village resources, I find it really non-thematic. Who would prohibit a viking from having more stuff??
@@TorIverWilhelmsen This is much, much more of an engine builder than worker placement, and that's also why I'd prefer real worker placement games (Caylus etc)
Lincoln is so ruthless, he doesn't even bother consoling the people who's actions he's taking. "Talk to the hand." Not even a word. He always keeps the "nice guy" act for after the game.
Are all the stats and abilities on the raiders the same? I mean, are all Shield Maidens the same cost to play, have the same military power, and the same bonus when discarded in town hall? EDIT: Ok checking the BGG site, I found a Card List, and it shows there is no variation in the raiders (Townsfolk) each type has the same stats.

This looks like a really nice game, but it took Dave a whole 20 minutes to explain the rules. I'm the one in charge of doing that every time, so this is quite a turn off.
Dave is usually attempting to do a complete rules explanation at the beginning of the game. We do this so people that only want to learn the game only need watch that portion of the video without watching all of the game play. Thanks for the note and for watching. -Lincoln
@@boardgamegeek I don't think Isaac meant it as a turn off for watching the video, but instead as a turn off to get the game (since he would be the one who would have to teach it for 20+ min)
I don't find a 20 minute teach unusual or long. There is a lot to say, and I don't like to leave things out. How long did it take you to learn or read the rules?
I have CoM and we all love playing it. I ordered Raiders on Kickstarter a while ago so I haven't played it yet but they seem like very different games to me.
I couldn't pick and made a mistake when buying because I was so tired/dizzy/excited XD I thought I bought RotNS second hand but it was the solo pack. Then I thought well, my group would maybe rather play CoM so I thought I bought it but it was the expansions. So now I'll have a solo pack and expansions but not the base games XD Aaah! Hahaha I don't think I ever made such mistakes ordering things before in my life. Lesson learned: sleep on it before you order stuff like this, especially second hand. On the plus side, I think I'll eventually enjoy these games a lot.

Every once in awhile, they should do an episode with the board turned the other way, so poor Lincoln can play right side up for a change.
In our group, I usually see the board upside down and have trouble recognizing things when right side up.
This happened to me recently when I played The Hunger with a new group- I was so lost going around the castle lol.
One of my favourite games!! The whole West Kingdom series are so fun!❤
Finally tracked down a nice copy with both expansions for a not-so-insane price, have waited a couple years to get it played! woot!
Although a costly outlay, the two soon to be released expansions will take Raiders to a whole new level

Good game, but I like ‘Architects of the West Kingdom’ better, as I like the player interactions better. Still, fun playthrough guys.
Really enjoyed this one. And loved the teaching as always.

This is more like worker REplacement :) I have the Garp Hill KS edition and am waiting for the expansions for it, good to see it get wider release.

The expansions Hall of Heroes and Fields of Fame bring a lot to the game!
