I love Gamenight! but I am completely baffled by the decision to edit this video the way it was. It made the video unwatchable for me. It was an hour+ of people looking at things at a table and talking about them, but never could we see what they were talking about. Frustrating. For those who have already played this module (that's me), we couldn't follow along with anything because we couldn't see it. For those who haven't played it, it was still spoiled for them, so what's the point of not showing the whole thing?I watch everything from Gamenight and it's one of the things I look forward to each week, but I really just didn't get this.
Ben, we wanted to cover it for the 2017 Spiel des Jahres nominations and we did not want to completely spoil what we feel is the best entry into the series. I feel it is only truly spoiled by seeing everything so someone could get together with a group and play it and still have, for the most part, the experience of discovery. Thanks for the note and for watching - Lincoln
Sorry, but I agree with Ben S. I can't imagine why someone would choose to watch a video play through of this game if either they hadn't already played the game, or they didn't mind the game being "spoiled" for themselves.
It is really hard to follow the game without the overhead. You marked the spoiler alert very well. A ton of games you did over all seasons were great to follow and got a good idea, whether or not they would fit my preferences. And a lot of games were presented were I changed from not really my game to thats actually pretty good. Your interaction is one of the most important things and your usual 3 cameras put together a great display on every game. This time it feels like watching soccer without the goals or baseball without homeplate.
I'm a bit late in watching this, but my wife and I finally played this. It's fun to see how you breezed through some parts that slowed us down and vice versa. The initial readings of the card that needed the barcode where decabor was read like it meant something had me on the floor laughing. 43:25 : "Unscramble the letters and look for the DECABOR!" "Decabor...does that mean 10 bors?" The things these games make you think are great.
I just finished this game tonight and ran to watch how you guys did. Ya'll flew through some puzzles that got us stuck (how Aaron got 'barcode' so fast was pretty impressive) but over all I think 5 brains on a game like this are better than the 2 we had.
Really enjoyed playing this game last night with the family. Was fun, challenging enough without being too difficult. If you follow the instructions of the game (use a pencil), you will have no problem. glad it had a couple of surprising moments.
You guys are great! I was originally disappointed with the opening comments about not showing the overhead camera in fear of completely spoiling the game, but it was still a very enjoyable video even without seeing the game pieces in detail. You guys have a real talent and always show the games you film in their best light. Thank you for sharing GameNight! with us all. 😆
I just got annoyed when the guys either took the cards from her, talked over her and got mansplained even though she was right about the solution. And my husband and I played the game without destroying one single item in the box.
I disagree with the "no overhead" comments. For me this was more about soaking in how you guys found the game, rather than seeing the clues again. Having said that I sometimes enjoy Game Night in an almost podcast way, having you on while I'm doing some simple school work. Though if there's a game I'm really interested in I'll properly sink my eyes into it.
What a great episode!!! So much more interesting, just because we can't see what you have in front of you. All the time I was trying to figure out what you are actually doing :)
Unwatchable video without the overhead camera. You have the spoiler alert all over at the beginning so everyone can choose whether or not to proceed. Very disappointing. If you wanted to go this route, have 2 separate videos with one showing the overhead camera and this one.
We didn't destroy it at all. Pencil (that got erased later, and no cutting) Gave the game to our friends once we had played it. Totally doable without destroying it at all.
Spoiler ahead!! The things on the floor are petals, because the flowers in the cabinet are "wilting". When we did this game we were trying to solve the South-East-West puzzle before we opened the supply cabinet. We kept getting the wrong answer because we weren't counting the flowers in the cabinet. The clue in the book about wilting should have tipped us off. Great reveal when we finally figured it out!
For your opening disclaimer, it would have been less presumptuous if you had closed with "We hope you understand." or "We ask for your understanding." To say "Thanks for understanding." is assuming we, the audience, are understanding.
Worst GameNight video, by far. I guess for their first non-excellent video they had to go all the way to absolutely terrible... nothing half-way! ;) Even more unfortunate is that a good number of people who have tried all 3 said this is the best, so even those who you convince to try the other 2 are missing 1/3 of the experience, and a lot of people say it's the best 1/3. Anyway, yeah... don't spoil once-and-done games. Bad, GameNight... bad. Go stand in the corner and think about what you done.
Would it be possible to upload another version? The one with the top down view? That way people can choose which version to watch.
Totally agree.
Agree
This! So much! It's not like you have to pay youtube for storing another video.

I disagree with Ben, I thought the decision was fine. I got the information I needed from the video.

I love Nikki shaking her head at the thought of destroying components

@@charisma-hornum-fries I mean you can play it without destroying anything, but it's made to be destroyed

Not sure what people are complaining about. I loved the episode 👍 Thanks, guys!
44:00 This was the toughest set of clues for us.
And then Aaron crushed it so quickly. Geez!
Is nobody gonna ask how Dave was holding the box with one hand 😂

Please give us the top down
My friends and i barely had to destroy this game
I solved the blue green red puzzle by myself in my group at 46:00
We didn't destroy it at all. Pencil (that got erased later, and no cutting) Gave the game to our friends once we had played it. Totally doable without destroying it at all.
@@piasjoberg4508 we just copied the items and cut and wrote on the copy instead. We gave our game away too.
Uh... so what's up with a second "Episode 6"?
Spoiler ahead!!

Love you guys but this was unwatchable without the overhead shots.

Why did you watch it, then? It's not their fault if someone watches something with spoiler warnings.
