Another cool series of trails featured in a great video series. BTW, Spent a few days along the Gulf Coast...my goodness at the trails. We stayed at Perdido Beach resort and accordiing to AllTrails, there were 83 bike trails within about a 45 minute drive! Unfortunately, I only got to hit up a few of them. Videos coming soon...eventually. I hope. LOL!
Sounds great. It’s been on my list to go to Gulf Shores, Alabama for a while, but I just haven’t been able to make it down there. Looking forward to what you end up posting!
Great video! I was hoping you might have caught me out there running! Funny you worked for the Drs. Crews 😂 Please come back when the trails are extended! 🚴♂️
I sure did…I directed and edited “Time for Hope” and “The Awakening Hour” for a couple years! Hey, when I return for an update, next time I’ll have to go to The Beacon!
My wife and I retired last year. We just bought a pair of Trek Verve 2 bikes. I've been watching your content today. We live near Hendersonville, and we want to get on some good trails. Thank you, brother.
Time to bring the band back together for a reunion tour. More “Responding to Comments” please! 😂 Definitely cool to see all the variety in the combined trails. Loved seeing the non linear editing location. I did some hot glue editing, not really but I did used to hook 2 vcrs up together and edit vhs home movies lol
Hey, man...thanks for watching. The band reunion is unlikely...but you never know! One of the guys went on to play for Geoff Moore & the Distance and Jennifer Knapp and was a guitar tech for Clint Black, I believe. The rest of us toiled in obscurity! LOL Hot glue VCR edits...yes! These kids today will never know how tough we had it, eh? (ha ha)
Don't forget about one of Spartanburg's favorite sons... the Silver Fox... David Pearson. Considered one of NASCAR's greatest drivers. I was SURE that you used a lot of drone footage. But one of the shots in this video (@ 4:16), that I was SURE was drone footage... went through a tree. My drone can't do that. Nice looking trails, and not too far from me. Are they all connected? Or did you have to haul your bike several places to enjoy them all?
Yeah, it's an Insta360 x3. Since then, I've upgraded to the x4. They are fun and amazing cameras! They're on a selfie stick that extends to almost 10 ft... but the stick disappears in editing. Yes, these trails are basically connected. Well, the one named for the schoolteacher is about a block away...but they are all pretty close together.
We love your show! We love bike trails and have done several of them. We are so grateful for all the hard work that you put into these shows. They are so helpful to us when we are searching for our next trail. We have watched them all and look forward to seeing your next one. Thank you for all your are doing!
We wanted to tell you about an awesome trail we did today called Man of War Trail in Pine Mountain, Georgia. You may have already ridden the trail but just in case you haven’t We wanted to let you know about it in case you wanted to check it out. It would be a great one for your show. It is 26 miles round trip and it was beautiful!
I was just in Spartanburg last Thursday with my Bike on board , But didn't think to look for any Trails. Plus no one talks about trails in Spartanburg. seems the Swamp Rabbit overshadows them all. So much has changed the that town except one thing. No one knows how to get anywhere. Quick Story: Back in the 70's, I too play for a Gospel Band. When we play in Spartanburg, we'd ask for directions. People would send us the wrong way or they just didn't know. Last Friday I was on 221 and stopped for some snacks. Asked a lady in Dollar General how to get back to 29. Because I knew I had passed it. She and four other people pondered for 10 minutes. One man claimed he been living in Spartanburg all his life, But had no idea how to bet to 29 . Thanks for the video. Gonna head back there this week. BTW I found 29 on my own.
Well, thank ya! I wouldn’t go out of my way to ride it, but if you’re fairly close, then sure…why not. There’s lots of places to eat along the way as well.
Enjoyed the ride along and learning more about your personal history as well. 4th place isn’t too shabby. Just want to let you know how much your videos have inspired us. Our bikes are out of the barn and are cleaned and tuned up. A few accessories to still get as we gear up for some summer riding adventures! Thank you Scott for sharing your ride destinations and making great videos! 👍
Thank you for the great video about Spartanburg which is my hometown! Downtown is the Spartanburg Music Trail, plaques about notable musicians who were from Spartanburg. More history: in the early 1800’s, William “Singing Billy “ Walker of Spartanburg published a music book, Southern Harmony, in which he set the words of Amazing Grace to music, which makes Spartanburg the birthplace of the song. A RUclips video about this states that Southern Harmony also contained the first music written by a female composer published in the US. The nickname Sparkle City is derived from a 1950’s rockabilly group who achieved national fame called the Sparkletones. Elvis Presley performed in Spartanburg in 1956 and it is said that he got the idea of wearing sparkly clothes from the Sparkletones.
Just learned there will apparently not be an Assaults on Mount Mitchell in 2025 due to work on the water main. Look for something equally torturous from the Freewheelers.
Scott me and my friend are planning to take your route or ride in this video. I am a bit confused how to or were to start on the map to take your route. Is it in Greenville then all the way to Spartanburg? Or just withen Spartanburg? We seen Greenville in the map and it’s called the swamp trail? It shows a lot of bridges and wide path greenway. So can you give any advice? Also me and my friend would love to meet you if possible we are going to be there November 2nd weather permitting.
Awesome! No, the trails in Greenville and Spartanburg are totally separate. If you have the AllTrails app on your phone, it's really good about sending you to a good trailhead for each trail. I don't know yet what I'm doing on the 2nd...but hope to meet you out on the trail sooner or later!
Yeah, perhaps. I played in 3 bands and was a guest keyboardist in my brother's band. But I sort of traded that in to do a radio show. It was easier (and sometimes more fun) to play the music on the radio than all of that traveling and setting up/tearing down. We didn't have roadies! ha...
"Woke indoctrination centers" cracked me up. I'm hearing some say this of Furman now too. Love the videos and waiting for the Ecusta trail to open for another review.
That's what I call colleges. NOT ALL. But most. Yes, even Alabama! All you have to do is go to their websites and look around a little bit. They all tell on themselves...
@@joyfultrails From what I can tell the Ecusta trail all the way to Brevard is a few years away but the first six miles out of Hendersonville will open this fall. The other trail I'm watching is the Saluda Grade trail, but that looks like a several year project?
@7:48 - OMG, these Commenters sound like they belong on Reddit. I surprise any of them didn't find anything "SUS' or "Red Herring or Red Flag. Such as "You an older man riding a bike near and Elementary school.I find that sus". LOL @13:59 - I can't believe I didn't see any of that. But I was looking for Music stores. So I guess I just missed all of it. I'm going back this week. So much History to see ,Better bring two batteries.
Bucket list! Looks like a great trail system. Thanks for sharing. Side note...you GOTTA let us hear some of your music from "the day"!
Hmmm. Let me think about that! Maybe I can share a snippet sometime…

Nice hair there, Scott. This was a happy video, very fitting for Easter. Good job, Sir.
Thanks! Yeah… My hair has been through a lot over the years. But so far it’s still hanging in there! 😂

I did, thanks! Hope you had a great day as well.
Great video! I really like your style. I am looking forward to riding these trails when I go visit family up there.
Thanks!

Happy Easter. I enjoyed the video !!
Thank you! You too!
This was amazing! You did Spartanburg and its history proud. Lived here my whole life and learned some things I didn’t know!
Yay! It was fun.
Enjoyed this one as a native Spartanburger livin' car-free!
Oh wow… nice!
I think I remember that concert in Duncan Park! Great video! Love your work l!!!! Thanks for sharing!!
