    Hooray! Congratulations on reaching the goal of 5000 subscribers! That is awesome! Loved the video! We only got to do the High Bridge section of the trail about 4 years ago. I can’t remember why we weren’t able to complete the trail on that trip. It was so good to watch your show to see what we missed. It looks like there is some beautiful scenery on the trail. While unpaved trails are not particularly our favorite trails, they do seem to have some beautiful scenery on the ones we have done. Thank you so much for another great show and looking forward to watching part 2. Have a wonderful week!

      Glad you enjoyed it! Truthfully, apart from the bridge itself the rest of the trail is somewhat unremarkable… Although it’s very pleasant and really pretty in spots. But that bridge alone is going to be enough to give this trail a high rating. 😉

    This definitely looks like a destination trip we will have to put on our list. If you make it down to GA in 2025 to the Cricket Frog, they just completed the bridge so it is a must ride while in the state and if your looking for rides that have a sweet treat to lure you at the end point of the CF at Newborn the Country Store has a great creamery that I can HIGHLY recommend. @13:15 that is what a Dutch man would call a Stropwaffle a very Dutch sweet snack. Great trail which you have now inspired for me to go and do. With views on that bridge it’s a must see. Thanks for all the work and efforts making the video. Oh little secret your front wheel on your bike is mounted backwards. Your spindel Axel quick release clamp should be on your left side of the bike and clamped so that quick release lever is facing towards the real of the bike not forward. If you are unlucky enough to catch that lever on a bush or branch you can easily thrower that lever open causing you to loose that front wheel. I used to be a bike mechanic for many years and a road racer back in the day. So seen that lesson learned by a few unfortunate folks. Thanks for sharing this video and ride.

    • @joyfultrails
      @joyfultrails  4 дня назад

      Wow… so the front tire is where I had the flat in Charlotte… And I had it fixed in a bike shop. So are you saying the kid in the bike shop put the tire back on the wrong way? As has already been established, I am not at all mechanical, so I will defer to people like you when it comes to stuff like this… 😂

    • @RViscara
      @RViscara 4 дня назад

      @ was not saying the shop guy did it perhaps you had taken the wheel off to put it in the car or something. Regardless it is on the wrong way. I am sure you can check with your local bike shop and they will tell you exactly what I am saying is true. Not trying to be a know it all just hate to see your axel quick release lever get popped open or half way open catching it on something. The best place for that quick release lever is to be tucked sort of just behind the end of the fork and behind the front “drop out” I was actually a road mechanic for the Brazilian Olympic team in 1984 so I wasn’t just some kid working a part time summer job. If you don’t believe me try and ask your local bike shop or people here. Just was trying to look out for your safety.

    • @joyfultrails
      @joyfultrails  4 дня назад +1

      @@RViscara Like I said, I will defer to your judgment because I just don’t know enough about things like that. What I do know for sure is that I have never taken the tire off and put it back on … so the only person that has would be the kid in the Charlotte bike shop. I can go to my trek store here in Greenville where I bought the bike and just tell them to make sure everything is cool. Thanks for the heads up.

    You have another subscriber, great video. My wife and I are retired and ride recumbent trikes, so I am wondering how the trail is for that type of riding. Looks smooth, but videos tend to make things look better than they are.

    • @joyfultrails
      @joyfultrails  3 дня назад +1

      Hmmm. Well, I've never been on a recumbent trike, so I'm not familiar...but the High Bridge trail is a pretty smooth ride. It's not real rocky. A lot of the time it feels like a pretty tightly packed dirt road. And there is a parking area - the Camp Paradise lot - that's pretty close to the bridge on the southeast end. Also, downtown Farmville is just 4 miles from the bridge on the other side...so if you wanted to do the bridge without doing the whole trail, you could. Thanks for watching!

    One trail I haven't done. Have to do it someday. Actually, What Pedro was describing was credit card touring.
    Bikepacking and bike touring are very much the same. Bikepacking you usually are more concerned about the weight that you carry. It is a mistake to think that bikepacking is done for shorter distances (Take the example of the GDMBR race, which covers 2700 miles along the spine of the country.). Bicycle touring is usually slower with different bags traditionally held on racks or carried with trailers. You typically have to camp out somewhere when doing a multi-day trip using both methods. The only difference is the bags and speed that you travel.
