I was taught as a senior marketing specialist that if you have a great product - you should not offer coupons as A) it teaches customers to expect them and B) it's the fastest way to the bottom for your profit. Have never used discounts for my products and never will.
I have stuck to this motto as well. I have been on Etsy for 13 years and have only ever offered a coupon to return customers that include with their order. Period.
Etsy is a marketplace where the key driver is price so the usual rules of branding and loyalty are much less applicable here. Once you have grown a loyal audience with repeat buyers to whom you have clearly demonstrated value your job is to get them onto your own platform where you can re-market to them and play by your own rules.
I use this. But will the person be able to re add the item to the cart and get a new expiration clock for the item? Essentially cancelling the deadline?
Maybe it depends on the product or the value of the discount. Mine is set to 30% which is 5% higher than the discount I usually offer in my shop. Currently my abandoned cart coupon sits at about a 7% conversion rate (sent out 431 times, used 30 times).
I’ve been using all codes available since day 1 and they are effective! The only thing I don’t like is that Etsy buyers know that these codes exist (so many buyers are sellers, especially with my customers) so they know that if they favorite an item, they likely won’t have to pay full price. But, this new expiration feature will be nice.
I already use these codes for my shop and i think its a great idea to do a time limit on their validity. So of i understood you correctly etsy will limit their time to be valid right? I did not see how i could restrict it.
Already using but people don’t use the coupons that much! From a personal point of view, I will often leave my Etsy purchases in the basket waiting for a coupon before I purchase!
Already using the coupons at The Bloodstone Werehouse ! Definitely a great feature ! Been wanting to add an expiration can’t wait! I love these updates!
If only they would make it look like it came specifically from the shop, people would more likely open it. Etsy sends so many general emails, I know my customers tend to miss the notices about their orders if I send through messaging.
You could always set a time limit for all of your offers. Etsy always allowed an expiration date for all of your offers. I use this feature. From what you have said here, nothing is new, unless Etsy will send out expiring soon emails
Fantastic opportunity for sellers to enhance customer engagement and drive more sales. Looking forward to seeing the positive impact on Etsy businesses!
What if I am constantly running a 30% discount on all of my shop for all customers. Would I need to set a 40% discount for people who favorited but didnt purchase etc. or just 10% and it will add up to the 30%?
they can’t double up on sales unless its free shipping. So if you want the fav/cart coupon to get them 40% you would need to make it 40% off and it would replace the sale. But if your running 30% off sale and offer free shipping coupon they get 30% off Plus free shipping.
Well, don't know... I'm trying to put my shop to selling and Etsy can't accepts any bank I have to verify and open my shop. I lost a lot of time chatting and they simply do not accept my cards none my bank... maybe because I'm in Canada? Don't know. I'm completely bored wit that. Any solution?? :)
I have a new shop and can't afford offer a to % off of any 'thing' in the shop. I have a seasonal craft item that did well 1st time around. I'm fine sending offers to repeat customers, but I just started to populate w/ POD and cannot do discounts to items there at this time so I may turn it off and do it manually till revenue starts coming in. Nothing has sold yet in that side at all and no sales this month on craft item and have ran hey - we're back promos. SO - when etsy asked for feedback, I did throw in to them a suggestion I think would work well, and crossing fingers that they'll see it. PS Everyone that favorites an item EXPECTS a discount. That's what the Forum said to sellers when asked what to do when someone favorites an item? Answer - They just want a discount. If its not high enough you're wasting your time. Anyway thx for the vent moment. I need to turn off that feature and maybe put in a new announcemrnt.

High quality and prestigious brands never offer cupons for that reason. It adds to the value.

I’m already using the feature, but rarely have anyone use the coupons. Hundreds sent but less than 11 of each used.

Yup, that's exactly what is coming and it should really help us sellers get more sales.
Already using but people don’t use the coupons that much!

Yes it is :-)
Yes I have always used the codes plus I add an extra coupon code in my thank you cards that they receive when they receive their order.
If only they would make it look like it came specifically from the shop, people would more likely open it. Etsy sends so many general emails, I know my customers tend to miss the notices about their orders if I send through messaging.
I agree, I wish they would let us customize more of the messages.
That’s awesome! I was thinking about this for years. It makes sense
It should help sellers for sure :-)
Yes, I am using the coupons. Also, I noticed they added a feature of "making an offer" for customers.
They are always testing these new features and some will see them faster than others. Thanks for the comment :-)
Thats great! Remember when I said this, that it would be good if you could put an end date on your coupon?
Yes. I already have those set up but I’ve not made any sales yet.

The coupons I have been using for years not new it does seem to work but plan for it to get used often once customers catch on

Try a wise account maybe. That's what I've done.
I wish they told us which items where left in cart as well
Yes, I've always sent coupons. I'm excited!
🎉
Yes, been using the coupon emails. Excited for the new feature
Me too!!
Yes, already using. Limited response.
Yesterday a random person messaged me asking for a code. I have never been asked for codes in the 14 years I have been on Etsy.
I think almost 50% of my customers use abandoned cart coupons. They’ve certainly caught on to do it.
Yes using these features already

Yes 50/50
Around 50% of my sales have come from these Coupons, at a usage rate of approximately 6% off of them.
I was part of the beta for make an offer crickets
Yay first to watch 😁
I encourage my customers to misuse the coupon
I even tell them if they tell a friend or family member give them the code
Exactly....i'd rather the use it and buy than not buy at all :)
as long as you cant send them yourself, it doesnt work
I'm not sure what you mean. You can send codes to anyone you want, just have to create them!
Hi, I sent to you email hoping to hear from me
