    I was wondering about all the negative reviews.....and after reading them......I do have to agree that this video seems to be pushing specific product. As a video for beginners of long exposure there was no mention of a screw on ND filter, which is how I started. These new filter systems are a huge investment and not all of us can afford to buy.

    • @AttilioRuffo

    Attilio...I received the PolarPro Landscape Kit, along with the ND-8, ND-1000, and ND8-GR filters today. I haven't had an opportunity to use the filters yet, but I have got to say the build quality of each filter is impeccable. All filters are very easy to slide in and out of the holder, and you have the ability to lock each filter in place. The circular polarizing filter is quite easy to slip in and out of the holder as well. So far, I am a very pleased customer of PolarPro. I will be trying the filters out this coming week up in the Sierra's. Thank you very much for bringing this filter system to the attention of all who follow you on RUclips and Instagram.

      Lens hood really makes no difference. There is not nearly enough material with that hood to block out as much light as you really need. Best to either change position so the light is not hitting the lens or invest in a cheap matte box which actually does block out the needed light. Film makers swear by them. I don't use hoods. Haven't for 35 years and prolly never will. They don't make a difference. Believe me.

    • @antonoat
      @antonoat 4 года назад

      @@willfly111 I agree the Lens hood shown is modest, I think they do an extended version. As for saying lens hoods don't make any difference generally is just not true in my experience. They can cut down dramatically side light from causing issues and they really do help protecting the front lens element from crap. I've only been a photographer for 34 years so I bow to your superiority! lol.

    Thanks for the preview of the Polarpro filter system, it seems promising. It would be great if you could compare it with the new Kase K9, which has a 90mm CPL and allows using 14mm on full frame without vignetting according to some reviews. I am quite sure that the build quality of the Polarpro Summit is better, but the possibility of using 100mm filters instead of 150mm for ultra wide is very important point, especially when traveling and in windy conditions.

    I have a question. 2 questions actually. First, I see alot photographers doing this and I never understood why. On your tripod, I see so many extending the smallest section of legs first and working up instead of extending from the top set and working down. From a stability standpoint, doesnt it make more sense to have the strongest and largest legs sections extended and not the smallest?
    Second, I have been recently focusing.on getting my gear to the quality I need it for my regular photography, non long exposure landscape. I have completed that task finally. Now I want to start on my long exposure gear build up. I have a Zeiss 35mm, a Nikon 50mm and a Tamron 70-200mm I can use that all use filter threads. The 35 and 50 both take the same size. The 70-200 is a 77mm. My.wide angle is the Sigma Art 14-25mm f2.8. It doesnt use filter thread filters. I have been looking at buying a Nikon 20mm f1.4 like you use so I can have a wide.lens dedicated for just LE photography. It would share the filter adapter with my 70-200 giving me 4 lenses available with only having to get 2 threaded adapters. That's my thought. Now my question. Should I buy the 20mm and do what I am thinking, OR end up spending roughly the same amount of money for a holder and adapter to fit my 14-24 that could only be used on that lens?

    • @PaulW98Z
      @PaulW98Z 4 года назад

      I just kind of answered the second. Polar Pro doesnt make an adapter other than the screw on plates. So no fitting them to my Sigma 14-24. I will buy the Nikon 20mm. I found a good deal on a used one any way.

    Hey Attilio, the polar pro system looks ideal, unfortunately I'm heavily invested in the LEE filter system and can't justify the expense. Do you have any tips on setting up the LEE system in advance of a shoot and transporting it safely? In a similar way to how you have the Polar Pro ready in a pouch. Looking forward to episode 3 Attilio! Great video as always.

    I looked long and hard at a lot of systems particularly the Lee Cokin and many others but could never bring myself to buy one which meant putting a piece of plastic in front of an expensive lens. It just didn't compute for me. I then discovered Rollei 100mm square filters which are in fact rectangular for the most part but are made from gorilla glass and have no colour cast. The holder allows me to shoot down to 16mm without intrusion into the frame. I have been delighted with them although they do have the two drawbacks Attilio highlighted when handling. However you are supposed to be able to drop them from 1 metre in height but I've decided to try not to test that. Looks like Polar Pro have moved things on with this system.

    I use the Lee 10stopper system and it is very fiddly and you have to touch the glass etc. The pouch they supply for it is completely useless by being far too small to actually keep the kit in.
    Im happy with the glass but attaching the system to the lens is hit and miss and by then you have to re compose the photo as you are never sure if you have moved the lens and focus after setting it up if you knock it while trying to attach the Lee kit.
    But it was expensive so I am stuck with it as it is not worth buying another expensive system if you have already shelled out for the Lee.
    The filters and stoppers are very good though so the quality of glass cant be questioned.
    But the blue cast is something you should mention during this course and how to correct it in lightroom.

    Made a short walk by the river today and got four images I chose to edit, shot with GM 24 mm and Nisi filter set. A good set, but one big problem, the control wheel for the polarization filter is way to small to operate with gloves. See Polar Pro, The SUMMIT!, is just released, and it has two big control wheels on each side of the polarization filter! FANTASTIC! I don't know what to do? Maybe I buy a small set with just tree filters of the Polar Pro, The SUMMIT? But first I think I'll try to get some gloves with openings for the thumb and the forefinger, maybe this will do it? The joystick of the a7III is hopeless to operate with gloves as well, so maybe some good gloves for photographers can solve both problems?

    I am very cautious with my current Lee filters as far as fingerprints are concerned. I only touch the edges and have never had a smudge in the taking area of the filter. I think the lens hood would be the only thing I would be interested in with the Pola Pro. The Summit kit starts at $699 with $249 for each additional filter and with that hefty price tag, I am more likely to stay with my Lee's. Attilio actually turned me on to the Lee's filters . Love the Big Stopper 10. My favorite. PP is a sweet system but a little too expensive at the moment.
