How LONG is your Longest Exposure Ever???
16 sec on my smartphone
Selecting multiexposure option in mi nikon, 10 exposures, 20 seconds everyone. Total 200 seconds. Anyway do you use multiexposure option in your nikon or you think it is better a single exposure and more time?. Thanks for your videos. Great channel. Regards from Madrid.
@@luisda6342 I do prefer a single long exposure, but I will make a video to compare the 2 methods..
The longest exposure time for me is 10 minutes at a clam dock and I ended up getting similar result with 30 sec exposure.
@@KIWu-th8wr :-)
Wow, long exposure is like magic!
I am with you on this!!!! ;-)
Your works are amazing,
Also inspired me to get out and shoot more. Thank you very much for sharing. ❤
This series is coming together beautifully.
Thanks 🙏
Very much enjoyed the info plus scenery
Amazing how the people disappear. Another good trick. Thankyou. I love your work.
Thanks 🙏
I have a friend that lives in Milan and I shared this episode with him. He is now hooked on your channel
@@petersparkie 😍
So interesting your channel Attillio. What a wonderful job. Believe me, you are one of my prefered one. It's different, amazing and I love your works so much
@@ungavaproductions thank you!
Loved the last shot. Thanks for the informative video
🙏
amazing photograph
keep sharing love to see your photograph
Thank you, I will
Thank you for showing these little glimpses of Italy from your eyes. It is fascinating to see places without the tourist blurb! I cannot wait for your next long exposure class. I am looking at doing long exposure nature photography as well as long exposure (stacked) astro photography. You are an inspiration, I have even (just today) put some photos in our local Australian town show competition for the first time!!!!
Awesome mate! 👍
Finally got a chance to see this video. Next is the one in Italian. I'm loving the cityscapes, but I'm really looking forward to when you can get to the mountains/lakes. I'm particularly curious about Lago di Braies.
Ciao Adrienne! I can’t wait to go to...
How was Yosemite?
Thanks for sharing, I took multiple shots at 156 second exposure at Hvítserkur sea stack in Northern Iceland last year. It gave a nice wash-out of both the water (around the stones sticking out at the shoreline) and also the clouds in the sky. As I had no people, I didn't want to push the exposure further. I'll have a go when my camera gets back from repairs...
👍
Very cool video. Thanks for sharing
Awesome
we appreciate your dedication to this channel and sharing your knowledge. I dare not get my camera out in public. I love photography but I really dislike explaining why to strangers.
🙏
Amazing images Attilio
Thanks 🙏
These last videos are sure showing me the beauty of Italy. I loved the Church! Thank you 😊
Thanks dear Judy!
Lovely! Just lovely. You give us all the opportunity to have unadulterated photos of some of the busiest places through long-exposure photography. Thank you so much!
You nailed Il Duomo!
😍
Awesome video, really enjoyed it! Glad you are back.
Thanks 🙏
Your images are awesome and I very much appreciate you showing us Italy. Thank you!!!
Ciao Patty, thanks!
Did exactly the same shot and exactly the same location. Went for an eight minutes exposure after sunset. What a beautiful sight. :-)
Guess my longest exposure so far is around that eight minutes. In nature you wouldn't need to unless you want the sky and the could to go creazy.
However, with all those people on the square this is a good exposure time to start with. Ciao Attilio.
A very popular spot in Milan!
Your photography is magic! This is a great presentation of artistry and technique. Looking forward to the long exposure course. Continue the magic!
Thanks so much!
Such a beautiful church and lovely photos
another excellent video. Hope i can get out somewhere fairly soon to give this a try
thanks Wes!
THX for your video, greatings from Monaco:-)
🙏🙏🙏
Love this series! The final image on this one was spectacular!
Thanks mate
It's interesting that the people don't show up the exposure. Your pigeon comment made me laugh. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it
this episode was extraordinary ,,, i can picture crowded places without any crowd in my picture ,,,
Thanks 🙏
I guess the only way to erase people between the camera and the Duomo was with this huge long exposure, molto grazie.
Yes indeed!
Your longtime exposure are in perfect quality. As expected 😉. I can't see any grain or hotpixels. Do you use the grain reduction function of the camera or by post-processing ? Or both ?
actually none of that, the camera didn’t produced any hot pixels at all!
@@AttilioRuffo 👍 my D800e unfortunately produces lots of them
@@ralfblumenschein I remember...
37 minutes 😮 That's a lot of waiting around. Great result though 😊 Another great video mate, beautfiul final image. Love your work 👍👍
Thanks Paul!
Ciao Attilio. I am a Milanese, and I am going to try to take the same pictures you took of Milano to see what comes out.
By the way I would like to take some pictures of the 'Navigli' before you do!
:-)
Cool video Attilio! I enjoyed seeing this project. The Duomo church is magnficent. I would love to see if you could show long-exposure images inside Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II too!
:-)
I'd fear my tripod would ever so slightly move in such a long exposure and ruin the photo. I think my longest daylight exposure is 30s.
I know and I feel the same way every time! :-)
Hi...you should a video on clip in filters...seems the new trend now
👍
Brilliant Attilio, great results and stunning images, i have a question, did you not get any hot spots on your image especially after a 37 min exposure?, would love to know thanks
Thanks Jim...not hot pixels! :-)
Teach us also the other method where you take multiple photos (probably hundreds) and stack them up in photoshop and let the AI analyze all images and remove everything that moved. More Tedious method but works as fine.
AWESOME VIDEO, FANTASTIC CHURCH AND FANTASTIC PHOTOGRAPHER....73S FROM THE U.K
Strange question for you Attilio... When you are out & about shooting at your locations. Do you ever get other photographers that recognize you & want to hang with you & photograph?
It did happen a few times... :-)
very good picture, I just started learning long exposure photography, in the end I found a problem with color noise in shots over 2 minutes, probably because I still use a medium to low camera so the sensor heats up quickly
If you cry WOLF then everyone would run away thereby clearing the way for you to take your best long exposure shots😂😂😂😂😂😎😎😎😎😎
Perfect English, great photography. Bravissimo Attilio.
Watching your tutorial, sipping Italian wine, missing Italy....
Nature is great but cities are also very inspiring. Please don't stop these series.
Maybe do Lago Como or Lago Garda for a little bit of both.
I am glad you enjoyed this, and I will definitely carry on... cheers! :-)
Attilo, I just found your channel and ironically it's after I visited Italy for the first time in my life this past summer. Although I flew into Milan, I didn't visit there long enough to see the Duomo, much, after seeing this video, to my major disappointment. I've been a hobbyist my entire adult life but have never done long exposure photography. You are an inspiration sir, and I plan to learn much more from you and place my attention on how I too can master the art of long exposure photography. Than you.
Just came across your RUclips channel. Enjoying watching your videos. My husband and I are visiting Lake Como in Italy in June so will explore a bit of Italy with my camera.
Biggest church. St Peter's (Vatican) has markings on its floor in the main path where other basilica would end. You would read St. Paul's (London) or Notre Dame (Paris) somewhere in the corridor. And other famous basilica. Once upon a time there was the cathedral of Cluny. Its size marking should be on the square outside St Peter's as it was about 50% larger.
Vanitas vanitatum omnia vanitas.
Hi Attilio! First... thank you very much for all your wonderful videos.
I am trying to get a ball head like yours, I noticed that it do not come with the plate. Which model of plate do you use in your BH55? Thank you very much.
Greetings from Brazil.
Hi there I am using the L-plate from RRS...👍
Hi Attilio! I've a question for you.. maybe an idea for next video (hope in your italiano channel!!!).
In your last shot your camera gave you 6" exposure, using 6stop ND filter, the time bacame 6'24".. ok clear, but you choose to set 9' exposure cause the low light.. I think it's logic idea, but can you explain your compensation skema? Sometimes I make some mistakes and I fail the correct exposure time.. thanks! I'll wait you to shoot San Petronio church in Bologna!!😬
Ciao Francesco, I will talk about this in my long exposure photography course that will start next week!
Spero di venire a Bologna presto...
@@AttilioRuffo thanks, I'm excited for this course!
Tienimi aggiornato se passi dal centro di Bologna devi provare i tortellini da passeggio! :-D
@@francescoaltobelli1569 👍
I enjoyed watching your video tutorial Attilio. Very informative. I am curious how long you were on site taking the pictures...1 hour, 2 hour or more? Thank you in advance.
Four hours long enough? I coached another photographer, decades ago, in shooting a bar and discotheque for its design and architecture. The ultimate shot was some 4 hours - yes, 14,400 seconds on film. The incidental couple that ordered a drink and sat there for some time did not show up in the picture as they hadn't sat there long enough to get into dynamic range. His camera didn't support multiple exposure. The shot was taken after midnight when there was no music anymore. Multiple exposures during sort-of normal hours before midnight would still have given ghosting and that was a no-no, so even if the camera had been able to do that the ND filter and long exposure was the way to go.
Which filter system do you recommend for professional results? I’m using Sony A7R4 body with 24 mm
Absolutely brilliant experiment Attilio! I have to say I’ve actually been going through every single one of your other videos again recently since you’ve been back - Thursday has become my favourite time of the week again - truly inspiring, truly brilliant and your passion shines through each and every one of your videos.
P.s thanks for the tip on the website builder - I’d just signed up for square space so I may need to reconsider if there’s a cheaper option now available! 🤣
Thanks Harry! I appreciate your support
Fantastic! Where was your focus point? Thank you so much for this informative video!
waittt!!!! how did u calculate it as 37 mins exposure?
can u just explain me it or do smthng to help me abt it
Your verticals are slightly off, giving the cathedral a strange geometry.
Attilio thanks for your videos ! Which stopper&ND filters did you use?
Bravo, Atilio. Zacuto loupe?

wow, nice work. How do you manage the hot pixels with that long of an exposure?
Thanks. I didn’t get any...
This place is absolutely awesome! And you made it looks like magical! Longing for your next Long Exposure Course online. Thank you, Attilio.
Thanks 🙏
Hey man, how do you get such a long battery life? Just a big accu?
Thanks for showing us what’s possible 👏😎
I guess when you would stand next to the little guilt madonna, it would not be little at all
You made again and plus a history lesson :) thanks Attilio.
😍
Ever tried the tilt/shift lens, before switching to Sony I had Nikon 24mm and great for buildings.
I still didn’t...
Amazing Attilo love your works.
Great video. THAT was a long exposure, more than 30 minutes !! Wauw
Looking forward to your new/coming long exposure course.
These your latest videos have inspired me to try and shoot some cityscapes, long exposure. Waiting for summer !!
Looking forward to your next video 😃😊
Thanks mate. The long exposure photography course will star next week...
Incredible video... Thank you so much for all the information!...
🙏
Wow! Attilio the images were outstanding and so majestic the church is 👍👍👍👍👍. Thank you 🙏🙏
Thanks mate 🙏
Very nice videos , i am learning a lot from your tutorials, but can you explain how to setup the INTERVALOMETER to take those beautiful photographs.
Thanks a lot Attilio from Spain.
Thanks. We’ll talk about that in LEP course...
Hi Attilio really loving your images! I’m learning allot with your videos. By the way could you make a video of how you organize your polarpro filters in the mindshift (hive or nest by the way) pouch? I have the same filter system buy I haven’t find a bag/pouch to keep them in.
👍
Another beautiful video. Thank you once again .... but the pigeons :D, I really will buy that 'shit happens;' photo tee even if you write the SH with a sharpie :D:D
thanks mate!
I visited Milano in april 2019 and it was 10 times more people in front of the Duomo.
There is a pandemic now... :-( but it was still quite busy for my photography taste!
Really enjoying your long exposures taken in your city 👏👏
Thank you for sharing
My pleasure 😊
Thanks for the nice video Attilio! I wonder for sensor overheating and burned pixels during this 37min long exposure. Can you comment, maybe on a next video?
Thanks mate. I actually was surprised not to see any hot pixels...
That was a terrific video and the last shot was, was ....... words fail me. Next piece of gear must be a trigger, otherwise I remain stuck in the mud of a 30 second limit.
👍
Thanks Attilio for another great video! I've enjoyed following along and seeing Milano. I've done a little long exposure photography and I have the gear, you have given me the motivation to do more. Cheers my friend and greetings from the Palouse region of Washington state USA.
Thanks Jim!
Beautiful photos, a great history lesson and a good laugh! So it is ok to talk to your camera in the US, but a little crazy in Italy, Lol! Actually I like it when people in Italy come up to me and ask about my camera etc. Since my Italian is not so good yet, we have a mixture of English and Italian conversation, the people here are so friendly.
Glad you enjoyed it
Absolutely brilliant best photography vlog onYT for a long time 👍👍
Wow, thanks!
Thanks for sharing Attilio. It's good luck that you didn't have any service vehicles pull up and park in the frame. I guess less chance of that shooting later in the day. Now, to find away to move those pesky people that stand in the same spot in your frame for many minutes...
👍
Love your work and your explanations are so easy to.understand. you're an amazing photographer 👍
Thank You
Awesome, pity i hate crowds 😁
Great results and patience, thanks for sharing.
Pity no nice looking Italian snacks this time
:-)
Hi Attilio, I will be attending your long exposure photography. Enthusiastic to attend the 5 months course .let me jnow

Congratulations on your online store. Every new video is great and new learning experience. Thanks.
Thanks 🙏
Awesome as always Attilio, thank you for another inspiring video...
Thanks Rick
Its a good job you didn't use in camera noise reduction or you would have been there all night. And by the way your one of my top 5 favourite photographs on RUclips. Yet another great video.
Thanks mate
WOW!! Thank you for showing us what is possible and also showing us an absolutely gorgeous building.
Thanks Helene!
I began my first long long exposure when I was 20 years old and I'm still on this long exposure.....I am now 73 years old ! Try to beat that my friend.....Smile ! Life is beautiful when photography is part of it.
Hi just come back to your channel after a horrid year, great to see you and your great video.some normality and comfort! Thanks
Thanks mate 🙏
With your Nikon D810 do you ever get tired that the rear lcd screen doesnt move or flip down ?????
To be honest, yes I wish it could tilt... :-)
Hi Attilio, lovely subject to shoot!
Do you not use a viewfinder cover when shooting long exposures?
Yes. Every time!
This man is amazing and so enthusiastic .
I love the idea of going into the city and making long exposure shots in front of buildings… thank you for your inspiring video!

I have a set of high dollar filters. After seeing this, I'm gonna start using them again. Beautiful photos!

Super top video. Attilio you rock!
I will add the long exposure method to my tool set for photographing busy locations.
