Thank you, Attilio, for your long exposure videos! It has become one of my favourite techniques to elevate my images out of the ordinary. In particular, your image of the two red deck chairs along the shoreline has stuck in my mind ever since I saw this video, which was now over three years ago! This past summer I had the opportunity to try to duplicate that same image at the beach where we have a cottage. While walking along one of the beaches near us, I spotted two red Adorondak lounge chairs sitting on top of the bluff, above the beach. Through a conversation with a gentleman on the beach, I discovered that he owned the cottage that had these chairs in his yard. When I explained the image that I was trying to recreate with them, he graciously offered to let me use them. It took three attempts on three separate evenings before all the elements came together, but I am very happy with the results! Thanks for your inspiration and your descriptive videos. Your enthusiasm for landscape photography and, in particular, long exposure photography, has helped me not only to appreciate the technique involved to produce such images but to show your viewers this artful style of slowing down time, and its effects on people. Looking forward to many more videos from you! Thanks for all your dedicated work to this art form, Attilio!
I m so happy I found you on YouT. I m an old man new at this. I find One Exposure Photo is fascinating. Long Exposure is art & photography. So Im hooked. My first camera is the Canon R6 II with several RF lenses and Vello Remote. I m hearing many photographers are not using filters these days. They wait to post to apply. But you stress them. I bought a HOYA ND x8 (3 Stops) but have not used it yet. Im enjoying your channel as so many others are. Thank you for sharing.

Hi, Attilio! There's no way that there are still any doubts. You were very clear, as always, with your explanation. Thank you for sharing your techniques and tips with us. Best regards from Rio de Janeiro-Brazil.
I bought my first nisi filter kit back in 2019 they never failed me i have the 3 stop medium grad 3 stop reverse grad 10 stop and a 6 stop nd filter went out to my local seaside walked away with some good long exposure photos
I love your examples, especially those that are simple and uncluttered. I think it takes skill to ensure the flat or smooth waters do not compete with the real subject in the image, such as the red chairs or golden tree. If your eye goes immediately to the smooth waters, it reduces the impact of the image. Great set of lessons. I look forward to the rest of the series!
Lovely set of videos. What took me so long to find you. btw - the first video I saw of your is which lens to be used for landscape photography. Got thru YT search
I used NISI filters when they first came on the market when they where a lot less expensive and found them to be as good if not better than some of the other premium brands but over the past few years the price of them has skyrocketed so I've started using Haida 150mm nano pro square filters when I got my Nikon 14-24mm f2.8 and I've found them to be as good as NISI with no colour cast but at a 25-30% lower cost.
Hi I am searching for good and affordable ND filters. I bought a circular ND filter from Amazon and now I'm returning it. It is a 10 stop Nd filter but when you reach stop 8 and approach the max, the angles will become darker and if you rotate versus the max a black cross appears. Short story long, I'll go for rectangular filters but I don't want to try then send back to Amazon. I would like to know the most affordable rectangular ones that do work without issues. Hence my question, does any of you know of an affordable ND filter I can buy? Thanks
How can we give a kind of painting mood to long exposure photos (like your second one at the beginning of the video). Great tutorial, thank you very much!
Dreamy - Calming - Beautiful Photos! What a wonderful course you have created, so informative. Thank you for taking us from the beginning of long exposure to...........
Thank you so very much Attilio. I am saving to buy a better ND filter kit and like the idea of the magnetic option. I did not catch the name of the manufacturer of the magnetic ND filters in the video a while ago, so would really appreciate that thank you.
How do you chose what gear to bring with you on your hikes? Do you bring multiple lenses in fear of not getting a shot because you left the gear back home? Or do you take one lens and try to get the best of it?
I usually always take my 20mm and the 50mm, with those 2 lenses I do most of my shots... I just decide if taking the 70-200... and if I don’t have i just search for different compositions
@@AttilioRuffo Thank you! Take a look into Case Magnetic filters. I have the Lee SW150 system but it was too big and bulky to bring along all the time. Case is nice and simple and quick to use.
Thank you for all the info and suggestions next week I’ll be in Tuscany and hopefully come back with a beautiful long exposure (first time trying got a 3stop nd and a polarizer )

Thanks for the video Attilio. Since I started watching your videos a couple years ago my desire to go out and do more photography and try long exposure in different situations has invigorated.
Hi Attilio. going through the steps taken for long exposures you mention mirror lock up is not needed of course for mirrorless cameras. It is also not necessary with live view but this wasn't mentioned. Do u agree? If so do u not use live view when taking long ex photos?
Nice initial workflow review. Loading the filters into the holder off camera is valuable advice especially if using a telephoto lens. Thanks for the tip.
Looking forward to the course. I picked up my DSLR for the first time since last summer and went for a hike this week. Itching to get back into learning long exposure.
Thanks for the clear explanation. I've been doing long exposures for some time now. I don't like the square filter system since I tend to screw on & off the adapter ring each time because I also like to use the sunhood once in a while. Keeping the ring on makes the lens more fragile when it is bumped in the bag. The main question I have is how to keep the filters clean and most of all dust-free ?
Hi Atilio, I'm looking forward to this course. I'm a fan of the Nisi filters also, no colour cast as they promise. One useful thing I have found is make sure to keep the viewfinder covered to avoid light leaking in
Attilio, Great long exposure training videos. Bought your two guides. Excellent courses. Have you thought about developing additional lightroom training guides using some of the photos you’ve taken as exercises with instructions for the students. You could cover presets and maybe sell some of the presets as well. Overall, you are a brilliant artist. Thanks for sharing your skills.
