Im 15 years old and opened the season with 2:05 in non super shoes (adidas MD) but then bought the ambitions which since then havnt broke 2:05 In because im a mid foot striker and the ambitions force me on my toes so this list really helped me
Hey man, im am kinda new to track and do it recreationally. I a lot of 5ks and broke 20:15 within 3 months of training. I run 2:18 800m in dragonfly but that was when i ran a 22 min 5k. Can i run 2:06-7 by just doing aeorbic work?
@@asc2276 You need speed work too,I dropped my 800 time down from 2:09 to 2:01 this year, doing aerobic work is of course important but at the end of the day you need that speed for the 800. You should work on getting your 400 time down.
I get a bit of heel slip in the LDx so I’d have to take off points for that. Otherwise the big carbon plate feels great. The MDx fits great and is still my favorite spike, albeit just up to the mile due to its aggressiveness
I did at first, but I rectified that issue by adjusting the lacing. It was my go to spike for this past track season and I had so slippage issues while racing
The Brooks spikes Josh Kerr was wearing the other night, please. None of the spikes on the Brooks website look the same as what he was wearing to win the gold medal.
LeTtTtTtTtSsSsSsSsSsSsSs GoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOo!!! I personally love the Brooks wire 8, they are in my opinion, a much lighter dragonfly, and I love it. The only downside is the non-removable spikes, but besides this they are great! The new Saucony spikes look very interesting, as they seem to be the lightest spikes on the market right now, but I'm not sure if I would shell out the $150 USD for em just yet.
As said on Instagram I broke 3 pairs of Dragonfly's in the span of 4 weeks, all the same problem where the plate tore/bent so I'm never getting those again. Switched to the Adizero Ambition (the avanti tyo isn't snappy so you have to work quite hard, Nike Victory is too instable when fatigued) and as a forefootstriker they work really well for me.
Honestly for track, I love the Nike ZoomX Dragonfly for track. It provides good cushion for me and it lasted my winter/spring track season. It really depends on your preferences. RIP your bank account and paying for all those spikes
Have you tried the Saucony Terminal VT? Seems somewhat similar specs to Dragonfly from what I’ve seen, plus quite cost effective. Could be a good spike. Also the new Hoka Cielo LD2
@@nathansmith6076I’ve got it too but since January I haven’t worn spikes due to an injury which only occurs wearing spikes (need more calf strength 😅) but I’m keen to give mine a go. It’s XC season here in aus now but I’ve seen a few here wearing it too. I’m just wearing Streakflys for now as they are honestly kind fun to run XC in?
I've done a decent amount of work in the Terminal VTs. It feels a bit firmer than the Dragonfly, but feels a touch faster/more responsive. DO NOT wear it for XC though. The spike plate is super slippery and any tree roots/rocks will give you a bad time. If its a golf course though it should be fine.
drangonfly is number 1 tbh to me, victories are great but unstable "dragonfly not fast enough" don´t know about that. brazier ran a 1:42 in a dragonfly and barega closed a 10.000 in a 51 for the last lap in a dragonfly plus the world records for 1.500 and 3.000m indoors, 2 mile 5.000 and 10.000 were all ran in drangonflys
Yeah but all of those don’t depend on pure flat out speed as in the 1500m, 3000m etc. also brazier didn’t race in the dragonfly so I’m unsure where you’ve seen that? They’re fast, but compared to the other two spikes I’ve put ahead of them. They’re slower.
Depends on what your cross country courses are like. If you run on golf course type grass, crushed gravel type courses track super spikes perform great and provide a similar advantage in terms of speed and no beating up your legs in races so you can get back to training quickly. If you run true cross country... IE like in Europe where courses are often soft, muddy messes, you might do better in a cross country spike that has more aggressive traction and more durable materials on the upper.
I did see that the On spike (either one) is available to buy now in all sizes and seemingly at a somewhat "better" price point than their carbon racer offering. When you talk of which ones are "better", "faster" is this just based on feel or have you got some quantitive stats from races or sessions to back up your rankings as it were?
Hi there. I have just come across your channel and just subscribed. My son and me, but mostly him , is really into running. He is 12 and his pe/games teacher thinks he has potential and has suggested long distance cross country and steeplechase. What shoes would you recommend and can you wear shoes for both events. And does them getting wet ruin them?
Dragonflies can do everything, but you also don’t want to go too hard too young. So I’d say just buy him a decent pair of daily trainers and see if he enjoys running, if he does dragonflies are great, if not you’ve not wasted your money 😁. I don’t have genius knowledge but I hope that helps 👍.
How many of you are training and racing in super spikes? NOTE: like road shoes, these super spikes are designed for race day and are NOT for everyone. STOP being sucked in by marketing. Also, spikes have always had a plate, albeit a plastic plate. So not likely to see the same levels of efficiency as seen in longer events on the road in super shoes, such as 10km through to marathon. More education required on these shoes
Superspikes aren't just marketing. My research over thousands of data points suggest a 3 seconds / mile advantage versus old school spikes with the lower stack heights and less responsive foam/plate technologies. On the track (just like supershoes on the roads) you are at a competitive disadvantage if you aren't in super spikes.
Hey would you advice the oncloud spikes for a 1500-3000 runner? Also just want to let you know that Jesus is real and that he died for you and cares for you. He has a plan and a purpose for your life. He is life changing and loves you more than anyone ever will. I want everyone to hear the good news of christ and fell the power and love of the Holy spirit. praying for you. all love keep it up
Just a heads up. The On cloud spike has a nylon/fibre glass plate rather than a carbon plate mentioned in the video
Can i use on spikes for steeplechase? Or they absorb water?

Glad it helped! If you’re not a toe runner the ambitions are pretty useless as far as spikes go!
@@Trackstaa_would you recommend the new balance ldx for 800m?

New Balance MD-X would also be a great option for an aggressive 800/1500m spike
I liked the smoothness of the
MD-X, but I didn’t feel like it had the pop the others have
Maxfly for 800m are best because of their aggressiveness . Would like to see you review saucony endorphin cheetah.

What are your thoughts on Supershoes for track? I’ve noticed many kids wearing Alpha/Vaporfly during events from 800 up to the 3200.
u made up my mind! Thank you!!!
I’m digging the ASICS Metaspeed LD. Really keen on the new balance spikes though 👀
The ASICS metaspeed is by far my least favourite super spike. Crazy how different some personal preferences are!
Do the On spikes fit true to size? @Trackstaa
Have you tried the Saucony Terminal VT? Seems somewhat similar specs to Dragonfly from what I’ve seen, plus quite cost effective. Could be a good spike. Also the new Hoka Cielo LD2
I have it, it’s not as comfortable as the dragonfly but it is noticeably lighter and more aggressive.

@@sparkey998 Ive actually felt like the Terminal VT had better traction than the dragonfly, at least in mud and wet grass.
What’s dragonflies best distance? And cloud-spikes best? If you wanna alternate them for multiple events
They are completely interchangeable. Both are fit for the same events, but the On is allegedly better at it all

It’s good that I’m a slow runner without sponsor and i can choose any shoes lol
How would the On Spikes perform for cross country? I have a pair and am considering wearing them for the season
They’re probably a little too high tech for XC if that makes sense. I’d feel bad ruining them

What are your thoughts on wayde van niekerk wearing the avantis for the 400 at the diamond league?
Do you think the cloudspike is better than the dragonfly for the steeple? My main concern is the upper, looks a bit thicker
I’d probably stick with dragonfly for steeple because of how sloped the front of the cloud spike is
Which is the most stable of all of these? I have a slight injury and need extra medial stability. Thanks.
They are all neutral, they don’t make supportive spikes.

I would suggest to
What about dragonfly Xc edition
Not tried it

How about air zoom victorys
Generally speaking, people prefer the dragonfly over the victory. The victory really isn’t any faster and it is less comfortable

Nope. I’ve heard it’s the dragonfly with a more durable upper and heavier. So not much changed

I haven’t tried the MD. Really don’t like the LD though
How much faster in a 10k would I be with the on spike than the dragonfly if you had to guess
The on cloudspike's ousole it's not made with carbon but with glass fiber and nylon. This mustn't change any opinion, but it must be said👍
Good to know thank you.
The on spike doesnt have a carbon plate!! Please inform you better.
CN you use these for cross country ?
