    Appreciate reviewing the dragonfly xc since not many others will review them, but I think it would’ve been nice to include the track version since those are significantly lighter than the xc version. When we’re talking track speeds, that difference is a big factor.
    And for 1500 I highly recommend the Mdx. Similar feel to LDx but lower, more connected, and a little faster when switching gears.

      Yes, very good point regarding the Dragonfly and I'll make sure to include the regular one in the next iteration of this video! Md-X is a shoe I haven't tried but we have someone in the Meta Endurance team who has (there is even an article on the website) and they came up with a very similar conclusion to yours. Thanks a lot for taking the time to comment

    I understand some people would want value for money in a shoe, but saying you wouldn't race in it because of price is not why I personally wanted to know. Regardless of price I want to know what is the best shoe then you could have a winner for value.

      Not yet! But I’ve had it in my hands: much softer and more flexible than the 10.000m version. Athletes use it for training mostly and the 10.000m for racing. Hope it helps

      I'm curious which On Cloud spikes Yared Nuguse is wearing and if he uses ceramic pins or the original metal ones. He may be able to break the world record in the mile and 1500m just by changing shoes and pins...

    5:50 it moved because you are not wearing socks, the toes are kind of grabbing it. The humidity of the feet doesn't help much the shoe, that's why we wear SOCKS.

    Interesting video! I think it’s crazy to see actual statistics of super spikes and super shoes. I would also like to see maybe a comparison between the track and xc versions of the dragonflies as well. Determining what shoe to buy for this upcoming cross country season and am not sure which one would be the best.

    Thanks Alex! Your reviews are impeccably comprehensive. I have the the Dragonfly (track version) and have been curious about the new Saucony spike. I’m glad I watched this. It saves me some money! I’m glad to see On making some big moves in the market lately, and it’s also heartening to see New Balance FuelCell foam up there throwing punches with all the Pebax boys.
    As for now, I’m content in my decision to stick with the Dragonfly, but I feel well informed for my next track spike.

    Good to see a spike specific video. Having run in 2.5 (the half being the original Dragonfly rather than the XC), I understand why the adidas came out as the least aggressive. It’s a super comfy shoe but it doesn’t feel fast to me.
    The On spike is very fun and got me to a 400m PB 😅. I’m never ever going to pay £250 for a spike so the ASICS can stay on the shelf. Would like to try the New Balance at some point.
    I would like to see a comparison video/short with the XC Dragonfly and the track version though. Whilst they are similar, I wouldn’t be surprised to see some pretty different metrics on them.
    As someone who is learning about running in spikes, I think my overall recommendation would be the original Dragonfly. Of all the spikes I’ve used, they are the most versatile and also not too destructive in newbie spike legs. 😂
    Although, that all being said, all the world records at the moment are being set in some very fancy looking white Nike spikes so maybe all this chat becomes redundant when they are released. Sometime around Budapest? 😅

    I personally think that the xc dragonfly is different to the track variant, it’s quite a bit heavier, and the geometry is less aggressive.

      Hi, thanks for your comment. The standard version is most likely the most diverse and popular running spike out there at the moment. Make sure you ease in to using spikes though because they can be very aggressive and high-impact on your calves and Achilles. | Josh from Team Meta

      Would you pick a long distance spikes or a different kind of shoe?

    Hey Alex🙂 Super good video with lots of data👍. Which I like😀. However, I can't help but be a little skeptical. I myself have quite a lot of experience in doing tests both pulse-based and Running Power (watts). How many times have you completed this test🤔 Reason I ask. My experiences say. The data may well be significantly different when you complete the exact same test several times. I don't have the best experience with Running Power (watts). It must be said that I have not tested the new Stryd pod. If it wasn't because it cost so much😔 I would have bought a Vo2 Master for my upcoming tests

    • @AlexFilitti
      @AlexFilitti  10 месяцев назад +1

      Usually I test only once for the full protocol. But I have worn all spikes with sensors before testing day so I know pretty much what data range I should expect. Does that make sense?

    • @JS-Treadmill-Running
      @JS-Treadmill-Running 10 месяцев назад

      @@AlexFilitti Thanks for your reply 👍🙂 Yes. But I actually wrote to Stryd because I do similar tests myself. I'm trying to figure out which shoe is most effective for me. Here are their answers. We are unable to make an official claim that Stryd data can help you make a determination on which shoe is best for you. I have a lot of respect for them being honest about it. So my tests are repeated many times over several days so that my data is as accurate as possible. and only use heart rate data as for me they are more reliable. I also run on a treadmill so I can simulate exactly the same circumstances every time. and uses two heart rate monitors. and if they don't show the same, I start the test over. so it takes many, many hours to do such a test as you have done there.

    Alex, I’ve been dying to get my hands on a pair of cloud spikes for months now and I think I’m going to use them for cross country. Do you think they would perform well on the rougher terrain that you would see on an XC course?

  • @robin29991
    @robin29991 Год назад

    The Dragonfly is the only one I have tried(Road version, not XC)
    Races on track are so rare for me, that I don' t feel like it' s worth trying something else. Also alot of them are very expensive. When I bought my Dragonflys in 2021, it was 150€. 200+ is just crazy for Spikes.
    Have to say though, the Avanti sounds like a decent more training-oriented option maybe.

    • @andywright7425
      @andywright7425 Год назад

      The Avanti are super comfy and I agree that you could wear them very regularly to train in.
      The pricing of so many things is insane now too. £250 spikes. £300+ trail shoes. I’ll stick to enjoying those on video. 😂

    • @PerryScanlon
      @PerryScanlon 10 месяцев назад

      @@AlexFilitti it looks like a generally useful tool but would have accuracy issues for fine comparisons of power since they only sense accelerations of the foot (not shin and thigh) and they don't know the mass distribution throughout the legs. force = mass × acceleration, power = force x velocity. It would be interesting to see economy with a portable gas analyzer. Or respiratory exchange ratio could be measured by blowing into a bag at slow speeds and using a non-portable gas analyzer ( less expensive I believe).
