    Thanks for the great video Ben! I have the Superblast 1 which I picked up on sale at the end of last year and have really enjoyed using them for most of my running this year. I’ve done over 800km in them so far and they are still going strong, so I think their durability does help to justify the higher price. As you said, they are just so versatile, but they are probably not the best option for easy recovery runs due to their firmness and I do have some faster carbon-plated shoes for racing (Nike Vaporfly 2 and Hoka Rocket X2).
    I recently picked up the Hoka Skyward X for easy recovery runs, but the funny thing is that I’ve grown to like them even more than my Superblasts for normal daily running too. They’ve got an incredibly bouncy ride and a nice rockered feel through the footstrike which makes them so much fun to run in. I thought they would be slow due to their heavy weight, but I recently did a half marathon at close to PR pace without even trying. The weight seems to disappear for me on long steady runs and I’m not a heavy runner at 68kg. The biggest downside for me with these shoes is the high price (even more expensive than the Superblasts here in Australia), but luckily I got them at a discount and I don’t mind paying more for something that will make me happy every time I lace them up.

    I love max stack/cushion shoes and have the SB2, MagMax Nitro, Glycerin Max, More v5, and Skyward X. I also have the Neo Vista and Mach X 2 which I would group with the SB2 as lighter, faster, and more versatile variety of max cushion shoes compared to the rest which are heavier and geared more towards easy/daily/recovery types of running. They are all very good or even great in their own ways. They each have their own unique feel and ride.
    The SB2 is by far the best all-rounder; no need to say more. The MagMax feels a bit firm, is propulsive, and can definitely pick up the pace. The More v5 is best for easy plodding recovery types of runs. It's so plush although it does have a little more bounce to it compared to the v4. The Glycerin Max sits somewhere in between the MagMax and More v5 and is probably the best "easy all-rounder". Haha.
    The Skyward X kind of sits in its own category. It looks like an easy/recovery type of shoe but is quite peppy due to the carbon plate and feels and rides more like a lighter and responsive daily trainer that would also be good for tempo runs. It surprised me because I thought it'd be a plush easy run shoe in the vein of More v5 but it's very bouncy with a firm snap to it that makes you want to pick up the pace. Very interesting shoe with an unexpected character which I've come to like a lot.
    Haven't tried the Nimbus 26 although I had the Nimbus 25 that I thought was okay but didn't really like. Curious what the GlideRide Max is like as I enjoyed the GlideRide 3 even though I thought the ride was kind of boring. Well, I feel like I'm maxed out with the max stack/cushion shoes now for the next year or so. All the brands are putting out really good running shoes now and it's good to see that they all have their own unique take on what each type of shoe should be like. It really is the best time to be a runner.

    Just wondering if you could add to the spec table if the shoes are race legal.

      What do you like most about the Velocity Nitro 3 as a daily trainer?

    • @MiracleWarriors
      @MiracleWarriors 29 дней назад +1

      @cosmocentric3 the grip and then the stability of the middle foot to the forefoot.
      My fastest 5km run of the year I could beat my previous record ( with a Magic Speed 3) by 15 seconds ! And the ground was wet after some rain during the previous night.
      So you see, if you have the grip , enough stability and comfort it can beat a lighter running shoes that is not as stable, comfortable at high speeds and have a bit less grip. A fantastic grip gives me confidant in my self to go run faster ...
      The downside of the Velocity Nitro 3 is the eva in the heel that is not soft ( but gives great stability) ,so if you use the shoes to run slowly and heel strikes it will not be that comfortable.
      Have a great day.

I am not the lightest runner with about 94 kgs, and I am injury prone. But with the Brooks I had zero problems. It saves my legs, and the rocker guides my stride so well that it provides enough stability for me. Really curious to know your footlength in cm! That way it gives a better idea with the sizing of these shoes. I know theres width and foot volume that come into play as well but footlength gives best indicator of how these shoes fit! And how mucn space in the toebox is also a matter of personal preference. But I have noticed that some Shoetubers advise a much longer space in the toebox than less experienced runners would think is suitable! I think Matt B goes for really oversized shoes. But then maybe taller runners prefer more space in toebox? Longer legs = more force generated by natural fulcrum of leg? Interested to know your thoughts on this as well?!

I use them as daily trainer for most my recovery, easy and long runs. I still have quite some other shoes in rotation (Novablast, Superblast (1 and 2), Metaspeed, Hoka Rincons and some more non-Asics), but majority of my running time is spent in the Nimbus. Asics really has to mess new iterations up to get me away from using them. (Which of course I hope won't happen!)

But cushion brings to mind something that is easy on the legs/joints. But it gives me aches due to the firmness. I'm only 25-30km in though, so hoping that it gets better as it breaks in.

      good luck finding a discount, I bought v1 at sticker price when it came out and kept looking for a discount to get another one, never saw any worth mentioning, even when v2 came out (which I then got). But they are so durable that they are well worth the price.

      I got my Superblast 2 for about 23% off. Asics Philippines was running a promotion to sign up for One Asics, offering a 10% discount. On top of that, One Asics members get a 15% voucher during their birthday month. I probably wouldn't have gotten it at full retail, but at 23% off (the 2nd discount applied to the already discounted price), it was too good to pass up

      @Charles-kc2vt Месяц назад

      I don't think you'll ever get one at a discount. People are upselling the shoes like crazy on eBay and even pre-orders for the shoe sell out in a few days. I pre-ordered the next color drop and some sizes are already sold out lol.

    • @eirabee
      @eirabee Месяц назад

      You can def get it for a 15-20% discount on SportsShoes in the UK - they do random restocks so would keep an eye out. You can also get 10% discount on birthday month if you get a OneAsics membership. It’s honestly not has hard to get as people say as long as you keep on top of release dates and regularly check restocks.

    Love this comparison and own 5 from your selection but I think people are often misled or it is often misunderstood that super soft shoes like the more V5 will look after and protect your legs! For some maybe this is the case but for others it can be harmful to knees, hips etc to run in super soft deep sinking shoes. R there is soft and then tooo soft.

    Another great vid thanks. If I were to choose a pair of shoes just for recovery and easy easy miles, I'd choose Saucony Hurricane 24 or Asics Glide-ride Max. I know they are both stability shoes but that is the whole idea. You want something to take care of your legs and make running easier. Those two I mentioned are not 100% stability so neutral runners like me can enjoy running in them also. For max something cushion that can do a bit of everything as an all around daily, the Superblast followed by Puma Magmax. Hoka Skyward X is a bit overpriced. The rest I would choose for walking standing long hours at work because of the squish under your feet and comfort.

    Hi Ben. I’m writing to you from Barcelona, Spain.
    I am aware that the comments section is not a consulting room, but…😅😅😅😊😊😊
    I’m looking at running shoes for the Barcelona Marathon next March.
    Since I started running I’ve basically used 2 brands:
    Nike at the beginning and in recent years Adidas with the Solar Glide model.
    Years ago I tried some Nimbus (when I started trying half marathon) and a pair of NB 1080s that must have been faulty as they started to rub around the 4km mark…
    I’m 1’80m tall, now I weigh 76-78 kilograms, I use insoles, … I don’t know what else I could tell you that would help or advise me on some shoes, and they’re not too expensive 😅😇
    The marathon pace would be around 6’/km (a priori although this will be established more and better later on 😋).
    Thank you very much in advance.
