Got the Nike Pegasus 41 for $49 during a sale at my local outlet store. Brand new. For the price I’m not worried about being disappointed I’ll use it for casual runs low mile days.
I got a pair of the ZF6's on sale! Soooo happy with them! Nike addressed everything that was wrong with the ZF5's when they made this shoe. Finally a do it all trainer from Nike that competes well with other brands.
I love the Skyward X. I originally bought it for easy recovery runs to complement the Superblast, which is not great at going slow, but I enjoy the Skyward X so much that it has pretty much replaced the Superblast for all my daily running. As Ben mentioned, it’s got a comfortable, bouncy ride that’s so much fun to run in. I wasn’t sure about spending that much on a daily trainer, but considering how much it makes me want to get out and run, I’m glad I did.
Love that SL2 so much, I bought two pairs! These really are versatile! I can do any type of run in them and feel good! Factor in the price, and they're even better!
@@misterjay4347 I think you can. They're very comfortable and supportive enough to use at the gym. But if you expect them to feel like the 1080's or the Invincibles, you might be disappointed. They're not soft like that.
I bought last week for z2 runs and recovery runs 1080 v13 , ot was most comfortable shoe in all shop , even nymbus 26 feels like brick to this shoe , and this week I bought SL2 for 89€ . For walking they feel like normal shoe , they are not soft , but I enjoy run in them treshold run so much .
Great video Ben! I have just got myself a pair of Gel Nimbus 26 TR for £120 which I think is a steal on black Friday! I hope the TR version can improve the grip! Needed a comfy, easy/recovery shoe and remember you recommended it. Good luck in Valencia over the weekend 😁
The nike pegasus is a completely fine shoe, I had 2 pairs of the 37’s, 2 pairs of the 38’s, and now 2 pairs of the 40’s. Old fashioned daily trainer, arguably better for your muscles, than high-stacked plated shoes. (I also ran 1:17 for the half marathon and 16:22 for the 5k in them, so you can definitely pick up the pace using them!!)
You’re fitter and faster than the vast majority of viewers, so you likely know you’d go much faster in proper race shoes. They’re fantastic times though! I’m not the biggest fan of Nike generally. However, their running shoes seem to get more hate than what I think they deserve. The zoom fly 6 seems a really good shoe
It actually just bothers me that Ben misleads people and says that the Pegasus can’t be called a running shoe anymore. Pro runners like Cole Hocker and Jakob Ingebrigtsen are using the shoe. For amateur athletes, it is perfect for easy runs, intervals and yes, even for races.
Anyone can run/race in any shoe. But you may be faster (when racing) or recover quicker in some shoes versus others. I have a few versions of the Pegasus and just find them boring. I'm not saying you can't hit quick paces - of course you can - I'd just rather use other shoes for those faster sessions and races. I am a bit of a shoe geek though and own way too many pairs (>40).
@@barnabaspeter277 , he is not misleading anyone. He is offering his opinion just like you have the right to offer yours. He has given good reviews on some shoes that I did not have a positive experience running in. I still value his opinion and watch his videos because he is honest and will give both pros and cons in his reviews.
Most people new to running probably don’t need to worry too much about the shoes. I like Ben’s reviews but I suggest most people just look for deals on new shoes that help keep yourself injury feee and getting regular miles . Once you have really gotten into running and racing then probably can get a more organized shoe rotation if you want ( but you don’t have to have a ton of shoes ; fitness really matters the most ) .
The SL2 caught me off guard, I’ve not been an adidas fan. However picked up a pair for £67, was blown away. So second pair bought for £55. My easy day rotations between this and the Superblast 2 next year will be super foam fun all around
I like Nike because it got all the kind of shoes for any level of runners and budget. On top of that they do the best looking shoe. I feel like the other running brands are too "flashy" and very indiscreet like Hoka, Brooks or Saucony even though i know they are among the better in quality but very pricey. As a personal choice, i hate paying 150$ and look like i run in stacks of fluffy pancakes. Nike have the Revolution for low budget beginner runner. Zoom, Flyknit and Pegasus for upper-beginner + intermediate and then Alphafly for the more experienced runners. Aesthetically, Nike looks phenomenal. And quality...well i feel like you get what you pay for ! I bought my Pegasus 41 electric for only 97£. Amazing stuff !
I'm in complete agreement in regards to the Peg 41 not being a running shoe. I use mine for gym stuff and casual wear only. I wouldn't ever entertain running in them purely because there are just far too many better options out there to run in. Just purchased the ZF6 and did a 7 mile Tempo sesh in them yesterday and they felt ok. They are loud like the alphafly's 😂 Next purchases for me are the Evo SL and the Pro 4 😎
Regarding Nike shoes - they are all different in fit. Pegasus is shallow around ankles so it doesn't rub them but its initial feel is like it won't hold your leg well and it will slip out. After running I don't have that sensation but it's different compared to the competition. Vomero has an insole going high into the arch on the medial side so I can't wear them. Pegasus Plus feels baggy and it deforms weirdly at the sides of the forefoot. It feels like the tapered forefoot with racing strip came from a different shoe and Flyknit sides were sewn into the strip. Invincible 3 works for me just fine. I wonder what kind of foot they use for shoe shape modeling because it feels inconsistent.
I bought a set of Cliftons because they were rated as durable and within a year I killed a pair Midsole worn outsole chipping away Finally had to replace them when they blew out while I was running
As a brand new runner I don't really have anything to compare to, but I loved my Peg 41s. I even bought the Nike Trail 5s for running in the wet as I was enjoying the 41s so much.
I've used a lot of the Pegasus shoes for my daily use and it was great cause the price was great for what it offered. Now that the price increased, I've felt that it's no longer that.
Totally agree on the Zoom Fly 6, I absolutely love them, replaced Magic Speed 4 for my speed sessions (I am a massive Asics fan): I still prefer Superblast for my long runs but when I hit the track I have no doubt on what shoe to use! I also bought the Adidas SL2 after seeing your first review, probably the best shoe in relation to price although I personally prefer Novablast.
my rotation: structure 25 for recovery, vomro 17 for daily and long runs, rebel 4 for pre race and easy workouts, alphafly 3 for tempo and road races, vaporfly 3 for threshold, victory 2 for track races, og dragonfly for xc races
The thing about runners is they always want super high stack or super responsive shoes. Firm daily trainers are good for speed because you’re working hard thus making you better
Upset with my Nike invincible run 3, only did 10k out of box, running in wet tarmac, end up with the glue of the outsole peeled off starting from the edge.
Great video Ben, I very much appreciate your recommendations. I love my Brooks Hyperion as everyday trainers, these shoes fit me the best. But after watching this video I will be quite tempted to try out the SL2 and/or ZF6. 😉
I think these videos illustrate well different tastes in shoes. Some agree with but just about to go out in my Peg 41 for easy run and got over 200 miles in them. Not looking to pickup pace or run a marathon in it. Also why get the GORE-TEX version if don’t like them.
Hi Ben, I really enjoyed your review of the Pegasus Shield last year, and I’d love to hear your thoughts on the Pegasus 41 GORE-TEX (since you've already bought it). While it may not be the best shoe overall, for those of us running in snowy winter conditions, it’s one of the few options available for snowstorm runs. Like the Pegasus Shield, it is a “niche” product, as you called it. Looking forward to your review!
Also i dont understand the zoom fly 5 hate it was an amazing shoe as well i put over 500 miles on mine as a lighter runner and loved every moment of it
SL2 and Zoom Fly 6 are both as you described….. Fantastic! I’m in the fence about dropping $225 on a Hoka Skyward X. It looks like a great recovery shoe but the colors are awful.
Hi Ben, Love the videos! Had a dream the other night you did a video to announce you were quitting yourube to become a twitch streamer. Pleased to wake up and realise it wasn't true, quite funny really. Keep getting it done 👍🏻
What i want to know is is it really worth spending more money rather than getting some shoes from the last 2 or 3 generations? I wis you guys would tell us if the new shoes are actually worth buying over shoes that are available from 3 or 4 years ago!
From someone with bad sesmoid issues, the Pegasus has been a complete lifesaver for me because of air zoom! It’s the only shoe I’ve been able to run longer than 10 miles in with NO pain. Because of that, I’m pretty tired of all the reviewers dissong the Peg because it’s not a “fast” shoe. It’s not supposed to be. If you want super foams and fast shoes, they’ve got great offerings for that too! I’ll blame all the RUclipsrs if Nike pulls air zoom out of the Pegasus too!!!
The SL2 are great value. However the sizing is way off. I can't take them over 6 miles without blisters on the ball of my feet despite going 1.5 sizes up. Still almost not long enough. I also find them a little too soft and not much pop
@@jn5152 That POS went through two layers of skin on my right foot too, precisely on the lateral section of the ball. Had to wait for 15 days before running again.
@@ucatani I've demoted mine now to short recovery runs. They've got better over time now they're worn in a little, but still give me issues when running too long.
@@jn5152 That’s so amazing. That’s exactly what happened to me. If i wear a Band-Aid and the perfect sock, I can go up to 45 minutes, but as a I footstrike for longer sessions, it starts eating through the skin to the flesh.
What are your thoughts on ASICS Kayano 30? I’ve bought them religiously for the last 10 years as a great training shoe. Obviously don’t race in them, but love them for my long runs and even intervals. Thoughts Ben?
I like the Sl2, for the money it truly is a better shoe than pretty much anything else. The only downside i found is the total lack of arch support. Combined with a very flexible design overall i get some serious foot fatigue.
When you said "41 years to hopefully get this right" I laughed out loud :D Totally agree with you on this one. But that's great if it comes to the running shoes that we can 100% agree on one shoe, and have totally different experiences about the other. In my case Rincon 4 worked pretty well. Adidas SL2? Great shoe, great price, love it. Zoom Fly 6? I didn't expect anything to be better than Saucony Endorphin Speed 4 in this category this year, but here we are. ZF6 is a total surprise for me, and a positive one. Unfortunately I missed Skyward X this year :(
got the sl2's in their wide version. it's my first adizero shoe and i was surprised by how small the sizing is. i have a boost x9000l4 in uk size 11 and got the sl2 in uk size 12 wide, and they're definitely the same size.
Totally agree. I did the bulk of my marathon training in the 41 and historically have hated the Pegasus and Nike but they stepped up their game big time with these
I love & run Hoka since 10+ years, but with the Speedgoat 6 and Rincon 4 they seem to have produced two fails within a year. Stiff & clunky bricks with a short (and thin) tongue.
They have produced a lot of good shoes this year too though, including the Cielo X1, Skyward X, Skyflow, Mach 6, Mach X2 and Tecton X3. That’s still a pretty good hit rate.
Just (hamster)ordered another pair of Adidas SL2 on Black Friday sale for 80 Euro. They are too breathable for the winter (at least for me), but their time will come ;).
All of this is subjective, competitive runner who take easy days very easy the Pegasus would be great. 1-2 days a week really easy day to build below knee strength. Not everything is about “snappy and popy” or responsive
Can confirm as a larger runner (315#) the Skyward X has been the most reliable and resilient shoe. I’m at near 300 miles for the first time on a shoe. And it still has life in it.
What is the point in having a fast shoe for training. Isn’t training about effort working your muscles and cardiovascular system? You don’t need a fast carbon shoe for that. Why not just buy any shoe that feels comfortable and is cheap and durable.
@@dddimi7955 Yes fast shoes makes it easier to run fast with less effort. I understand the need for this in a race. The body doesn't understand pace it understands stimuli and effort. A fast shoe will give you less stimuli with less effort.
Hi Ben i have a collapsed arch and overpronate I ran Manchester marathon this year in 4.35 in a pair of asics gel kayano 30s and I’m running Edinburgh marathon next year and want to get a pb can you recommend a race day shoe that I might get on with?
If you like the feeling of the Kayano, but want a more responsive shoe… I would go with the superblast 2. Very comfortable, stable and responsive shoe.
2024 was the year of the super soft (sloppy) shoe. I really don't know why all these companies are copying Hoka. I know I'm not asking for trainers that wear like slippers....
Thanks Ben! I like the look of the SL2, but just don’t think they’ll fit my feet; I had to go wide in my Mach 6’s. I’ll be on the Black Friday sales for a longer run shoe next
I’m personally disappointed the way they’ve trended. The Pegasus 36 Trail, Peg 37, and the Vomero 16 are among my favorite shoes of all time. But not one of those shoes is what they once were. The Pegasus is just bad now, the Peg trail doesn’t have the same bounce and light weight as it did, and the Vomero has been turned into a spongy max cushion shoe that doesn’t function the way it historically did
Regarding the Continental rubber on the SL2. When you say that “you can’t have everything for 100 pounds”, the rubber probably cost Adidas $.14 it’s so minimal. Putting a few square centimeters of Continental rubber is not going to raise the price by any significant margin. Lame take Ben.
This guys reviews.?? the shoes was so bad, stiff and slow. But it was only 100 pounds so then it is a very good shoe. who cares about a few pounds when you are buying running shoes..
Why post a stupid video about shoes which are bad....its very subjective as if it didnt work for you then it may have absolutely worked for others...😂😂😂

got the sl2's in their wide version. it's my first adizero shoe and i was surprised by how small the sizing is. i have a boost x9000l4 in uk size 11 and got the sl2 in uk size 12 wide, and they're definitely the same size.
Wtf so big. I m small man 5,5 uk adidas.
Peg 41 is amazing honestly so definitely MAJOR disagree on that one as its leagues above other daily trainers on the market
Totally agree. I did the bulk of my marathon training in the 41 and historically have hated the Pegasus and Nike but they stepped up their game big time with these
Ben you must spend a small fortune on shoes! Great tips
Dailly trainer? The best is a used Vaporfly :)
My shoes of the year are Mizuno Wave Rebellion pro
I loved my SL2 more than Nike Pegasus.
@@davidtaylor3 true, just disappointed about the SG6, a shoe I use(d) 80% of the time
Hi Ben! Will you be doing a review on Asics Novablast 5? 😁
Will you be doing a review on the Adidas Adizero EVO SL? Have read so many good thing about it, would love a practical review
Got the SL2 for £82 and just picked up a pair for £55. Unreal.
i want try other brand than nike, my size 10,5 and toe box is 10 cm, what should i get? thx
Can confirm as a larger runner (315#) the Skyward X has been the most reliable and resilient shoe. I’m at near 300 miles for the first time on a shoe. And it still has life in it.
I don't understand how reactx and 2 zoom air units can not be great... structure 25 is all cushalon
What is the point in having a fast shoe for training. Isn’t training about effort working your muscles and cardiovascular system? You don’t need a fast carbon shoe for that. Why not just buy any shoe that feels comfortable and is cheap and durable.
Super shoes in training can help fast runners that are used tò do a lot of km or Miles,tò preserve legs. Also a lot of more fun.
If you ever watch fordy runs his recommendations that I remember are the saucony kinvara pro / endorphin pro and new balance sc elite.
If you like the feeling of the Kayano, but want a more responsive shoe… I would go with the superblast 2. Very comfortable, stable and responsive shoe.
How far can i run the Pegasus 41? 600? 800 miles?
I've used mine for 350 mile. Outsole stills looks new, the ride and feeling still feel great. I use them for shorter easy runs up to 6 miles.
Depends how far it is to your local running store to get a better shoe.
@ is it so bad?
@@b-m-yannick-w5034 don't waste your money. Like Ben said. This really isn't a running shoe anymore.
@@therangersinger very true
Ever try atreyu?
The Adidas SL2 seem perfect for me right up until the last comment. I have wide feet! 🦆 Any recommendations for an alternative for us with duck feet?
Got Wide version. I used It only on tapis roulant. Great shoe. But yeah,Wide feels as a normal shoe.
You must be switching shoes after 100km. How does it feel?
What’s a Kilometre
Adidas sl 2 is light and soft but doesn't look durable. I prefer pegasus 41 because of durability and comfort perfect daily trainer shoe.
2024 was the year of the super soft (sloppy) shoe. I really don't know why all these companies are copying Hoka. I know I'm not asking for trainers that wear like slippers....
Why no mention of Brooks? Oh yes, they did not offer you an endorsement.
"Been using it for my second run of the day" i hardly run twice a week 😝
Bro never touched ON shoes and its crazy
I got the SL2 and it rubbed the back of my ankle.
Hi Ben what shoes do you recommend for supination feet?
Thanks Ben! I like the look of the SL2, but just don’t think they’ll fit my feet; I had to go wide in my Mach 6’s. I’ll be on the Black Friday sales for a longer run shoe next
Puma Magmax?
How many shies have you lost in that river? 😂
Novablast 5, anyone?
You've made the Nike fanboys cry. Nike's daily shoes have always been junk. They don't even make decent kindling..
😂 they’re definitely not junk
Don't try to make the Nike haters cry. Charlie's gonna hate if he wants to.
I do think he forgot to watch the rest of the video...
But it was only 100 pounds so then it is a very good shoe. who cares about a few pounds when you are buying running shoes..
addy daus
Why post a stupid video about shoes which are bad....its very subjective as if it didnt work for you then it may have absolutely worked for others...😂😂😂
I’m all about projects with real-world use cases, and Alemio payment solutions make it stand out from the crowd. Get it cheap while you can, or cry later.
Just jumped into the Alemio token ICO. If you're serious about DeFi, this is your chance to get in early before the masses catch on.
This is one-in-a-bull-run opportunity, you don´t wanna miss Alemio Network presale
