Ben, I agree with you when it comes to watches. As a runner, I always preferred the lightest watch and never used many features. It's funny that many reviewers say that cheaper models are entry level watches for new runners. The reality, however, is that pros like Kipchoge tend to use the cheap watches and casual joggers those flagship models that cost thousands of euros.
I like more basic watches too but comparing to pros is pointless for amateurs. They have colleagues providing data and insights and don't rely on tech as much as me (for example) because they are so much more experienced.
I bought a Fenix thinking it was the mutts nuts, whilst it’s a great watch I just didn’t need that much of a watch. I’ve now got a Coros pace 3 and absolutely love it, I forget it’s on my wrist! The tech for the price point is great too!

I use Precision Fuel 30s, non-caf and caf too! Their Precision Hydration Sodium Tabs are great as well! Tastes really good and I don't get taste fatigue even if I just have that the whole time, considering I've tried various flavors of GU.

isnt the F55 the cheapest watch?
It is cheap. It is also miserable to use. I bought one last week and I will be returning it today. Please, if you don't already own one, get a different watch.

I’m trying to work on cadence just now going from your videos and been looking at watches. I don’t wear watches but thinking of it for running does the 165 garmin give steps per minute
Yeah i have one,it gives average cadence, max cadence, stride length, ground contact time and more stuff
@ that’s great thank you
wife will not be happy about the pillow 😂
265 would have been nicer ??
of course! it's also significantly more expensive!
6:07 great acting
Like you Ben been looking at a new watch me to have the epix gen 2 don’t use all the functions and the 165 as crossed my mind been looking at the suunto race s or the corus pace pro even the polar m3????
if you have the epix, why make a change? those other watches are hardly any smaller than the small epix, only the 165 is notably smaller and lighter
@TBasianeyes just fancied a change but really I don't need a new watch the one I got works fine lol
"sports recovery pillow" otherwise known as a pregnancy pillow. :)
The only things that i need for running that are running-specific are running shoes and a belt bag. I consider my $35 health watch to monitor HR and pace a luxury.
45g carb Nduranz gel for 1EUR. Everything else is a huge scam in comparison.
8:30 “Lightweightedness” - absolutely is definitely a word…
Ben you're looking very tired in this video! Get some proper rest aka. sleep buddy 😉
Don't get waterproof socks.
Why
@idawson998 because they will just hold the water just like GoreTex shoes anything over the ankle. I've never had cold feet either.
Never been first haha
😁
Congrats 🥳 🎉
How did this channel fall off so hard? It's now just advertisements for running accessories and shoes. Running should not be about consumerism, and yet most running influencers seem guilty of pushing the view that you must buy more and more!
Maybe because Ben makes his living of making content?
While I get what you mean with other creators, Ben is at least committed to buying all these products himself and giving honest reviews.
What a rubbish statement! Nothing is given to him and we're getting his honest feedback
I couldn't disagree more, clearly he buys everything himself so he can give genuine independent opinions and I believe he does do that and personally I really appreciate the approach. As a youtuber with a decent following it must be so easy to take the offers of free stuff in return for glowing reviews, watch a Ben is Running video for an example, so I say all credit - there aren't many channels I can think of who maintain that independence - just a few in the cycling space like Shane Miller and DC Rainmaker (although even DCR is now doing "this video is sponsored by..." snippets).
because the guy got injured and older and can't pump out race after race anymore.
and back in the day they were also doing trails, parkruns, time trials and whatnot and now its all just pretty simple high volume training runs which surely wouldn't get too many views.
