I'm currently training for my second marathon at Houston! Having gotten my volume up to about 100-120km/week, I'm feeling fitter than ever, and am ready to set loftier goals this time! My A-goal is currently a sub-3:15, but I'm excitied to see how that evolves these few months of training. Your videos have always motivated me, and they carried me through my first marathon block. Thank you for always helping me love the grind, and I can't wait to be racing the same streets!
I appreciated your comments on having a menstrual cycle. It can be hard training and dealing it. Hearing another woman runner address it makes me feel more normal! If you have any book recommendations regarding it I’d love to hear them.
Dr. Stacy Sims is an expert in the field of training and nutrition for women, specifically taking into account menstrual cycles and their impacts on training, fuel uptake and performance. I’d recommend looking into her work. She has some amazing insights. 😊
It's only a couple of days since "The Running Channel" showed what happens to very good amateur runners when they attempt to run a half marathon @ 3:33 pace in a 5 person relay, then Phily does 12x1k reps @3:27-3:30 pace like it's just a walk in the park. Amazing.
Without a doubt the best channel on RUclips. Thank you so much Phily for sharing your experiences and expertise. No fakeness, warts & all, and your personality and sense of humour shining through. Can't get enough of these videos and the workout ideas 👏👏👏
Yaaaaay. Houston BABY!!!!!! One absolutely predictable thing about January weather in Houston, it’s absolutely unpredictable 😂😂😂 This year I’m in the Legacy marathon club, i’ve run it 10 times. Hope to see you there. Will be on the lookout for a shakeout run.
Would love a short video on your strength training regiment, including explanations on how to do each exercise and its benefit. A couple of the exercise variations you were doing I had not seen before and am interested to learn more.
Dang it! I’m going to be in Canada the week of the Houston marathon otherwise I’d be there and get to meet you!! I hope you come to the Austin Marathon in February
Hi. I’ve been following along for a while now and don’t recall you doing any hill specific workouts, not even hill strides. Is this ever a part of your program?
As a female runner, I can definitely relate to the feeling you described in this video when you're running close to or on your period. About 6 weeks ago, I ran a 10k race on my period which went surprisingly well. This said, while my legs were fine with it, my head wasn't in it. It felt like running on autopilot for the first 4 km or so, my legs just did their work but I felt disconnected from it. When I was challenged by a competitor, I got more into it and felt more present in the race. So adrenaline probably helps. When training on my own, I wouldn't get that mental boost, I just try to get the session in even when I'm not feeling it. It is really interesting how the menstrual cycle can influence your mental state.
Hoping Houston goes great for you this time around!! It’ll be my second time doing the full here but I like the half way better. The roundabout around mile 8 is super fun!!
Tease! Perfectly timed video-drop - sitting sipping my OJ and Collagen pre-long run... That (Collagen) was such a top-tip combined with appropriate, physio-led, rehab actually being pain-free in the Achilles for the first time in a couple of years is awesome.
Hey Phily, lovin' the content and how strong you're becoming - very inspiring! QQ - the foot roller to activate your plantar ... could you share a link? I'm coming back after nearly 5 months out and I like the idea of activating my plantar rather than aggravating (which is what I seemed to have been doing) pre run.
Wow, that was super interesting. As a guy who ran 2.35 marathons back in the 80's and 90's the closest we ever came to supplements etc was a pal telling me to drink 2 litres of still water mixed with a can of flat coca-cola after my Sunday 20 miler ............ seemed to work back then.
Rawfully is definitely a word. I love you philly! Watching this whilst clearing my bedroom ...saw your ' shit ' and it made me feel ok about mine ...ahhaha
Do you often get a knock on the door from WADA or the UK equivalent? Do you have to maintain your whereabouts? And is there testing after races? Or how does it work for road runners in general? Love the videos, keep up the great work
As a Texan, I can tell you that you never really know if it's going to be in the 60s (~15c) or in the 30s (~0c) in January, so just prepare for anything lol Also, do all gyms in England have a full size indoor soccer/football field?! So jealous! (Of the soccer field, not the workout, my legs could never hahaha)
make the collagen into your pwo shake in milk, you will definitely not smell and not taste it :) Love all your videos.. such an amazing worj of you two 🫶
I'm so curious if pros pay attention to their watch if it tells them they need a "Rest Day". I know when I'm in a marathon training cycle, I am FAR from a pro, it just tells me that I need to take it easier on the run. Curious how others approach getting the "Rest Day" message
I have an athlete with a flaring Achilles niggle, and it’s a common issue for me too. Is there anything special I should be looking for in a collagen supplement like the one you’re taking with your OJ.? Always willing to try something new!
Maybe you could do a video about selfcare for someone who showers 2-3 times/day, I for one feel like I'm probably not doing my skin any fsvours by doing that but it's either that or...well, no, that's the only option.
Don't get me wrong, I love the grind, but you would be forgiven for not wanting to go out in the evening for gym+rehab session. Anyway, great video as always. When you are in Houston, perhaps you can say hi to the @global-runner, I love his content too.
Hi Phily, I have to tell you that the execution of your Squad exercise was painfully to watch. I would highly recommend that you work on that in order to prevent possible injuries. Try to always have your knees behind your toe level and try to have a little wider stance overall. Also: If you want to get the most out of the exercise you have to go deeper :-P I don‘t want to tell you what to do and I love your videos, so please take it as well-intentioned advice
So now that you’ve had a good race your a ‘pro athlete’ again, but when new balance ditched you, you didn’t want to be defined by what is a pro or not. Let’s face facts like all others you’ll say whatever gets you the most views. Dear oh dear another athlete more concerned with social media than actually performing.
You're such an exemple! Making all of these choices that benefit your goals, day in, day out , FOR YEARS on end. That's loving the grind indeed!
Yes you are such an exemple. A grayet exemple.

Same. I keep commenting that Phily should give Houston another try. Still hoping.

You are not only inspirational, but also HILARIOUS
Philly! Thank you for sharing your menstrual cycle ups and downs. It truly helps more people understand the importance of listening to your body. ❤❤❤
Sometimes when I'm feeling down I remember I am the lucky owner of a white Love The Grind running vest. I will wear that today on my 10k easy run.
Without a doubt the best channel on RUclips. Thank you so much Phily for sharing your experiences and expertise. No fakeness, warts & all, and your personality and sense of humour shining through. Can't get enough of these videos and the workout ideas 👏👏👏
Love this Phily! You inspire me to keep going and trying my best in all my runs! Thank you for being an inspiration to me and so many people!!
RawPhily being rawfully honest today.
Thank you for sharing this! I have recently discovered your RUclips channel and I am LOVING it! Much love!
Aaah I’m doing the Houston half too, how exciting. Love a cheeky trip to America and now I might get to see my fav runner at the start!
Thanks for including us in your daily routine. I hope your achilles rehab continues to go well.
Awesome video as usual, Prompted me to start thinking about my first marathon attempt at the end of next year, thanks for the inspiration as ever!
Your office situation spoke to my soul as I stood in my extremely cluttered office/studio/gym/storage space. I can never keep it tidy 😅
Liking the classy new merch design… very chariots of fire, Corinthian spirit, old school running club logo..nice job!
Yaaaaay. Houston BABY!!!!!! One absolutely predictable thing about January weather in Houston, it’s absolutely unpredictable 😂😂😂

Thankyou for sharing all the ups and downs♥️
You are amazing and such an inspiration🥹🏃♀️
Yay!!!! Im running the Houston half also!!!!
Thanks for showing your Journey!

OMG I AM DOING THE HOUSTON HALF MARATHON!!!! I really hope I get to meet you!!!!
Collagen tip. I use wellgard gold standard brand. It doesn't smell and dissolves with a bit of stirring at room temperature!
You are an amazing person and awesome inspiration 💕
rawfully is officially part of my vocabulary now. lobbying to have it added to the english dictionary immediately.
Loved the video as always! Thanks Phily and Daniel 🫶
Dang it! I’m going to be in Canada the week of the Houston marathon otherwise I’d be there and get to meet you!! I hope you come to the Austin Marathon in February

O no keep us waiting till the next video for your next marathon 😮 smart
Great to see the real daily grind, rather those runfluencer rolls.
Hoping Houston goes great for you this time around!! It’ll be my second time doing the full here but I like the half way better. The roundabout around mile 8 is super fun!!
I am running my first half marathon at Houston. Hope to see you there and get a picture!
Tease!

Great video! I like the T-shirt design- any plans to put it on a cap, or a buff style neck-warmer?

Beautiful, definitely HONEST, And when the BBC call you, nxt personally x
Thanks for taking us with you on your journey. I’m curious if you speak about the shoe choices you make for each specific training.
No wayyy! Im running the Houston half with some friends! Would be so cool to see you or at least scream “love the grind” in your general direction 😂
RAWFULLY inspiring 😜
What's the little mat you were warming up on??
Wow, that was super interesting. As a guy who ran 2.35 marathons back in the 80's and 90's the closest we ever came to supplements etc was a pal telling me to drink 2 litres of still water mixed with a can of flat coca-cola after my Sunday 20 miler ............ seemed to work back then.

Phily is cool, for real.
Best fix for your achilles tendon is TB-500
make the collagen into your pwo shake in milk, you will definitely not smell and not taste it :)

The love the grind marathon …where’s that ? 😉

In the video Daniel asked, "How are you feeling?", but the last word sounded as "Phily-ng". I wonder whether this spelling can be used somewhere...
DMSO for your Achilles! 70% dilution.
What is your rest time between each 1k or 1 mile session on the track?
Need RAWFULLY on a T-shirt! 😂
Phily, when you are in a race- what data do you set for your watch screen? And is it different for a 5K than for a marathon?
awesome 🤘🏻
Rawfully should be a word!
Guess who wore the non-sponsored T shirt!
Wait. Where did Daniel get what look like retro Oakleys? I need to know.
Do you have any advice for running a bit after having a meal? I always feel terrible when I try to run after eating. Even if I wait 3 or 4 hours.
I have an athlete with a flaring Achilles niggle, and it’s a common issue for me too. Is there anything special I should be looking for in a collagen supplement like the one you’re taking with your OJ.? Always willing to try something new!
How did you miss the pun of rawphily honest 😂
Regarding the last part of the video. I’m American and I’ve never used this word before but I’m going to use it now. Cheeky. 😏
Maybe you could do a video about selfcare for someone who showers 2-3 times/day, I for one feel like I'm probably not doing my skin any fsvours by doing that but it's either that or...well, no, that's the only option.
Not using super hot water has helped my skin, especially when it's drier in the winter!
Quick question…how do you know what the inside of a cow smells like?
😂
Love this Phily
Thought the cat was going in the blender for a second
Yay! 🎉
Did you say rawphily?
Nice
"rawfully honest" ok scooby doo
Pls be hopencagen marathon

Flagstaff loves you. Arizonans for Philly ☀️🥹. (Also... a speed limit of 5:30. Freak.ing.wild.)
Beautiful, definitely HONEST, And when the BBC call you, nxt personally x
