Personally, I don't like listening to anything on my runs. I feel like running is one of few occasions where I'm not listening or looking at a screen or book and being outside. Being with your own thoughts and looking at nature is so nice
Mathilde asking the smart question! Both you and Allie O making coaching changes has been interesting to see. Deep-cut on the Queen album cover chosen!
I think the Cheese you were talking about is called Boursin! I'm sure there are more herby soft cheeses but boursin fits the bill and is one of my favorites too.
I love that you didn't edit out the mosquito clip - what dedication!!!! Nice addition was the sitting on the tub. - Merch: add limited edition stuff :)
As one of those older/slower runners.......I need my music during a run so I don't hear myself dying. The longest run I did without music was a trail half marathon and I will make sure it never happens again
Altitude and all that sun is great, but take good care of your skin - sunlight is much stronger! Yearly skin checks are a good thing. We love your videos, and Daniel is really looking very fit! Great job Daniel!
Thank you for the video and the very informative and funny Q&A. I was either laughing (the mosquito clip is gold!) or nodding in agreement with a lot what you said. Great content, keep it up.
Would love to see some different merch. Personally the PB club shirts don’t really do it for me, but I’d love to rep Phily merch if there was a design I liked.
Another question: Do pro athletes also have pro feet? How can you so easily shift between New Balance and ON ? I’ve got New Balance shoes. My parents love their ONs, I’ve tried them on once and they’re far too narrow for my feet. I thought that brands cater to slightly different feet. Some are narrower and some are wider. Going to a running store even as an absolute amateur they take great care filming my feet in different shoes to find a good shoe for my individual feet. My head just spins around: Shouldn’t at the pro level shoes be absolutely optimised like everything else? Or do you all have impervious pro feet? At the world record level the naive amateur I am would actually expect custom shoes based on the molds of your feet. Or are shoes just not that important? On the other hand, contracts are so important to make money, so do you all just sacrifice feet for contracts? Not that one brand is generally better than the other. Just that some brands are way better for an individual foot than others.
You always have the option to film sitting at one end of a certain couch and later sit at the other end. Lie down in the middle. Sit upside down with your back on the seat and your legs going up the wall. So many options!
Thanks for a Great video...I am pleased about your dairy uk mention. I recently told a few people that Milk is underestimated as a hydrating nutritious drink .....👍👍
Reading books can be inspriring!! When I started running seriously in 1972 I went to the local library and devoured autobiographies of past runners like Gordon Pirie, Derek Ibbotson, Brian Hewson etc. and the then WR holder for the mile Jim Ryun. I now own many of these books and they still inspire me.(And at my age I need inspiration before a hard session.) There are also good coaching books out there. Books can be read, re read, and seriously considered for an unlimited time. Anything by Percy Cerutty is worth reading Pure coincidence that I now sell books for a living!
Hey Phily & Daniel! Thanks for all the great content 👏 I am training for my 1st marathon in November, and appreciate all the tips and insights from your experience as a pro. 👍 Re: Merch, a request for singlets/tanks 🎽 Keep up the great work!
Phily!! ❤ Thanks for the video. Two more questions: 1. Favorite dinosaur? 2. What inspired the bleach blonde for you and Daniel? 😜 You’re inspiring!! 😊
Topic music/headphones while running: most of us are already glued to screens and electronic devices the whole day, so why not be with yourself and your thoughts while running? So I don't have music or podcasts while running. Music in a race is for distraction because it is too hard... But we LOVE the grind, so hard = good, so no music to distract us from the lovely and hard grind.
I have never run with music before. Everyone calls me a psycho for that, but I really enjoy the opportunity to be with myself, just listening to my footsteps, my breathing and the sounds of the outdoors. Plus I think it's always better to have more awareness of my surroundings rather than less.
Exactly - running is my 'me' time, when I get away from the noise and bustle of everyday life. I'm fortunate to live in an area where I can get quite quickly get into the countryside, so looking at the scenery and wildlife whilst I run is my chance to unwind and get away from the trials and tribulations of the working week. I see way too many runners who appear to be entirely dependent on music, to the point I know several people who will not run if they have no music, even if they've paid to enter!
Same, I agree with you all. I'm also in the no music/headphones camp. I only listen to music or watch videos on the treadmill because that is boring. Outside, I prefer hearing the noises of nature on the trails. 2-3 hours fly by and I managed to de-stress. In the city, it's good to be aware of your surroundings.
Hi Phily, please can we have a limited edition “PB Run Club” unstructured Dad cap? Something we can just chuck on when we are living life. Cheers, Dan.
Just in case, don’t use ibuprofen while cardio. It’s even banned on marathon events as it can cause heart issues. Paracetamol is fine but I agree - rather don’t use it unless you really need it to like survive a night with a sick toddler or something life threatening like that
excellent Q&A Phily. Not a training question, but nutrition: have you found the Maruten Bicard system to have any positive effect on longer races, like half and full marathon? I've seen conflicting data on gaining benefits only on 5K and under versus 13.1+. Would love feedback please! Loving the grind BTW!
... I try to read books.., but I have went ahead, and succumbed to the fact that I can do audiobooks quickly, and read one book at home. first time I bleached my hair, I should have done it twice for that exact reason. the second time, I learned from my previous attempt, I di it the night before a rugby match though, an the head coach was not happy.."I dont like surprises" his voice. he knew something was up, because I wore a cap all pregame.. I didn't catch all the heat though, because my buddy in the forward pack also bleached his hair with me (solidarity?) we were kids in university.
The running without distractions thing…i love it & hate it probably in equal measure but i do most of my training alone. I love running with others when i get the chance! I think it was in Moritz U did a short of what goes on in my head on a long run & OMG it was almost an identical insight into my brain on most runs😂 from the sublime, most incredible ideas to the most ridiculous…for me-like who & how did someone come up with X sport. The most gritty details of the most irrelevant stuff. Answers to questions I must know, but are so irrelevant, Google doesn’t even have straight answer (yes, I have come home & googled it, cause I NEEDED an answer🤣🤣). Sometimes I come home & try unsuccessfully to remember what I thought about for the last hour…oh…& as u said in that short Phily ”I must remember to trim those cheese graters in my shoes!!”😂😂😂😂😂 Highly recommend doing some runs without music/podcasts etc if you don’t already. You might just get a real good laugh at yourself like I do (on the regular😂)
“Can’t eat granola!” What is what you call porridge because you describe it as what we in the stetes call oatmeal. Oatmeal is, of course, oats. Granola is mostly oats. Why doesn’t that work for you? Curious viewer(s) want to know.
Since you're in Flagstaff, you should read a new book titled "A Walk in the Park". It's written by a guy attempting to traverse the length of the Grand Canyon. It's a quick read! I believe some of his team live in Flagstaff.
@25:35 You need to film an entire episode doing this 'Jersey Shore' Snooki impression. I wonder if strangers could pick your real voice if you switched between American, UK and Snooki? Could be funny...?
try putting in one or two raw eggs into your smoothy mix, you won't taste the egg at all and it has a perfect fat / protein profile plus lots of important micro nutrients.
Phily, where do you get those cross-strap sports bras? Like the one at 26:40? I have been trying to find sports bras that expose more of my back to get that sweet sunlight on my runs, but all the ones I can find have low cuts in the front, meant to be sexy, which does nothing to hold the girls in!
Don't know where Phily gets hers but I have one from Better Bodies which does a decent job. Snug in the front and airy with crossed straps in the back. Expensive (to me) but they often have sales on and there's at least one you-tube channel that gives a discount code.
@@kxs7267 Thank you! I unexpectedly happened to be going shopping today after I left this comment and I ended up finding some similar style bras at Athleta! ☺️
Love the chocolate milk porn! 😂 I can totally relate to the bug situation-You should see me running during deer fly season - people must think who is that crazy person hitting herself and waving her arms all over the place! I saw your finish online today at falmouth. I started screaming"Go Phily,go!" Nicely done!!!
Philly I think your an amazing athlete and creator but the Australian Breakdancer has came out and said how all the hate has had an effect on her mental health and as a fellow athlete who also talks about mental health I think it’s bad of you to mock her talent.
Another question: Do pro athletes also have pro feet? How can you so easily shift between New Balance and ON ? I’ve got New Balance shoes. I like how Daniel, as the editor, chose to put "what happened to your boyfriend?" in the thumbnail!
Lol that's why I clicked on the video 😂 I thought they broke up 😂
Stabbed at my screen ten times before successfully hitting the "like" button while watching this on the treadmill
I copy-pasted your comment on all the videos I like.
We all have the same life after all
Now that's some serious dedication! 😂
I can totally relate
Personally, I don't like listening to anything on my runs. I feel like running is one of few occasions where I'm not listening or looking at a screen or book and being outside. Being with your own thoughts and looking at nature is so nice
Mathilde asking the smart question!
Both you and Allie O making coaching changes has been interesting to see.
Deep-cut on the Queen album cover chosen!
Allie has been with David Roche for a while.
Or has she changed again since?
Philly, you should try listening to some of your period books via audiobooks on your long runs! It flies by
I was thinking the same thing!! although she might run with other people more often than alone while in Flagstaff
I think the Cheese you were talking about is called Boursin! I'm sure there are more herby soft cheeses but boursin fits the bill and is one of my favorites too.
OMG, fresh french pastry after a sesh sounds like heaven on earth!
I love that you didn't edit out the mosquito clip - what dedication!!!! Nice addition was the sitting on the tub. - Merch: add limited edition stuff :)
Merch idea: warmup sweats/hoodies with “PB Run Club” on the front and “love the grind” down the sleeve or pants leg
I’m buy that hoodie 👆🏽👆🏽👆🏽
I would like to request stickers as part of your merch! I love stickers. 😊
YEEESSSS!!!
As one of those older/slower runners.......I need my music during a run so I don't hear myself dying. The longest run I did without music was a trail half marathon and I will make sure it never happens again
I'd love to see more running t-shirts as I love wearing my 'Love the grind' PB run club when I go for my runs =D
Altitude and all that sun is great, but take good care of your skin - sunlight is much stronger! Yearly skin checks are a good thing. We love your videos, and Daniel is really looking very fit! Great job Daniel!
Best running questions video ever, both the locations for each one and that ending!
Loved the Midnight Library! Very interesting plot, quite well written and inspirational!
can't believe i watched this whole thing. your personality is tops, Phily! LOVE THE GRIND ONESY w/ TOE SOCKS & GLOVES & HOOD/MASK!
Thank you for the video and the very informative and funny Q&A. I was either laughing (the mosquito clip is gold!) or nodding in agreement with a lot what you said. Great content, keep it up.
these Q&A videos are always great and *very* dynamic and engaging what with all the moving about.
Would love to see some different merch. Personally the PB club shirts don’t really do it for me, but I’d love to rep Phily merch if there was a design I liked.

Merch: definitely bring back the PB Run Club as well as something new!
Taking the family on vacation to see the Grand Canyon next week. So majestic! I must admit, a small part of me is hoping I run into Phily and Daniel.
The hair is lookin great! So much faster
The entertainment value of “where is she going to go next??” had me cracking up
Thanks for answering our questions. Take care 😊

Can't wait for the cycling (on your own terms of course)
Really interesting look behind the scenes and into your story. Also, love the Mission to Earth watch!
Definitely shouldn't have watched this hungry and without a nearby bakery!

would love a new longsleeve that looks good for the coming fall/winter runs!

So much fun. good vibes.
Loved the reading picture of you 😂😂😂
That outro is pure gold
40 MINS OF PHILY?!?! Let’s goooo
Merch: PB shorts with back or side pockets??? I have way too many t-shirts. love the video, especially the outro :D.

If you were to put out, PBRC Berlin Marathon kit, you would have at least one customer. LTG.
Thank you, for answering😊 limited Edition Merch. But then i Will Come to the UK to collect it, avoiding import Taxes😂 and maybe do a race over there😊
"As his girlfriend, but also as his coach." 😂
The Midnight Library is so good!
There is chocolate collagen and it goes well in morning coffee.

Stroking the leg hair 😂😂😂
I love all the couch hopping in this one 😄👍 I just did a video where I had to sit on 21 different benches during a single run 😂👍🏃♂️

Come do some training in Telluride. We have the best bread in the US, Blue Grouse bread.

She's mentioned this before and I've been wondering the same thing!
The volcano visuals seem to subtly allude to diarrhea. Maybe the type and amount of fibre doesn't work for her.
Three cheers for real milk! Phily, you and I are the Dairy Queens!🥛👑

great video!

Is that a moon swatch? Sick 👌
wait, when did Peter Hassett become a reaction gif? Wasn't expecting to see him at 16:46
would you suggest the midnight library to read
On + Philly colab merch please

Though I do have enough to be going on with... :-)
What collagen are you taking that tastes horrible. The collagen i take is tasteless and just make my protein shake creamy
25:31 omg your so fashionable 😂😂😂
Golden🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Do you coach beginners?
Wait chocolate milk has electrolytes!? 🤔 I love smoothies
Keep the hair!
I hear that mosquitoes don't like vanilla.
One question. Where can I get that T Shirt ?
I was too impatient and should have finished the video before commenting 👀
I hit like for the T shrit
Whhaaat go Daniel
What color is your hair NOW.
Who’s picking out your thumbnails?
What’s the strangest thing you have found on a run ?
Im gonna get bitten alive!😂

Hey Phily, did you know that more than 10% of your fellow Brits think they could qualify for the 100m? That’s so ridiculous.
Fish burps are an occupational hazard.
i want to ride my bicycle, i want to ride my bike. i want to ride my bicycle, i want to ride it where i like!
~35 minutes in: that's quite a nasty mosquito bite you have there 🙂
"Arthritic toe"... Sounds like you got gout??
Stop scratching your bites🤣
:)
=O
