GREAT review! I am upgrading my luggage and this helped with my decision to purchase Monos. And, since I can't like this video a thousand times, I am now a new subscriber 😊
Needed a luggage upgrade-purchased the Monos Carry On Pro Plus & Check In Large both Terrazzo style. Waited for the President’s Day sale and saved much loot. So far both are awesome! Reading reviews re scratches etc. Maybe I should put a clear coat on it and void the warranty! Nah-no need. Thanks for this beautiful review which helped with my choices! Traveling soon and looking forward to breaking in both pieces the right way! I am ready! Safe travels & cheers all!😊#monostravel #journeyon #travel #newadventures
As a Canadian, I just looked up 2 very standard airlines (April 2024). Air Canada limit is 21.5 x 9 x 15.5. Westjet is 21 x 9 x 15. Even though the airport sizers say 22 x 9 x 14, the websites differ. This bag, if checked, would never pass the allowable limit on either airline, as it’s 23 x 9.5 x 15. Just a precautionary tidbit - if you’re a risky person or not. Plus, more airlines are cracking down on oversized carryons since very few people want to check a bag any more, and are overloading their carryons. Do you have any smaller recommendations than even 22 x 9 x 14? The Monos Carryon is that size. Great video and I love Monos.
One'll run into that 21½" limitation outside North America frequently. I travel outside U.S. regularly and when I replaced my old Samsonite carry-on, I purchased a Monos Pro 20" - just to be on the safe side. As many are aware, airlines, especially the budget carriers, are now more strictly enforcing carry-on sizes and weights as they serve as effective "revenue enhancers."
Great review. My hesitation about getting the Pro Plus is that I don't want to check the bag as it is a smidge bigger. I was happy to learn you have not had to check it in your travels.
In the spirit of full disclosure, I just came back from a monthlong trip to Europe where I was forced to check the bag. But it was a weight issue, not a size issue. I got the cheapest ticket possible and a carryon couldn’t be more than 8kg (17 lbs). But if you take into consideration that the bag itself is 8lbs and I was traveling with two laptops, a portable monitor, tripod, camera, and month worth of clothes, there was no hope of meeting weight restrictions. So be cautious of how heavy you pack out the bag for European travel. Domestically, you’re good with this bag.
Thank you for sharing! I am considering getting the Monos carry on Pro Plus but am hesitant about its size for my international travels next year. If the weight was not a problem, did you ever have troubles having it on board with majority of the European airlines?
So far no issues with fitting it in overhead bins. I carried it on for a Aegean Airlines flight between Greece and Italy with no issues. And domestically it’s worked on every plane I’ve taken it on.
Great review!! LOVE this color and definitely getting a carry on pro ASAP. Now just deciding on the color… it sounds like you’ve done a lot of travel but it looks brand new!! how do you feel like the white has held up?
So this last trip, I was forced to check the bag and it got quite dirty. But a little dish soap and scrub down and the bag looks new again. The polycarbonate shell is really easy to clean up. The zipper is the only area that gives me pause. It’s white fabric, and is looking a little dingy, but I might use a toothbrush and diluted bleach to get it back to ‘like-new’
Okay that’s good to know!!! Yeah I was thinking the same thing about maybe dish soap or bleach on the zipper. Does the design you picked help hide any random scratches that don’t come out? I’m currently debating between the pro and the pro plus. Do you have any regrets getting the bigger size? How often have you been forced to check it?
I’ve been lucky not getting any permanent scratches. But next time I carry the bag to Europe, I’m going to get one of the clear plastic bag covers just in case I’m forced to check the bag again.
OK. I was on the fence as to whether I should "pull the trigger" and buy the olive green version (it's possible that I'll get the terracotta color, but that cost extra) of this bag. After watching this, I've decided to move forward with the purchase. Thanks
I used to do backpacks. I got older and got tired of heavy items on my back. I switched to carryon luggage and will never go back to backpacks ever again.
Haha, I still carry a backpack from time to time, and as I rolled this suitcase over cobblestone in Venice on a one mile trek to the train station, I was missing my Peak Design travel backpack.
Ooh, I can see why that’s a hard choice. If you use packing cubes, the Sympatico gives you a lot of flexibility for packing that a 2 sided suitcase doesn’t. But the laptop pocket on the front of the Monos makes going through security so easy. Tough choices!
Try Dawn dishwasher soap. Maybe it will get the oil out (they use it on ducks from oil spills). It worked great on my Vans that got grease on them. Or, contact Mono to find out cost to replace that one piece.
@BR C Never had to gate check it, but I did have to check it on Emirates on my recent trip to Greece. Not because of the size, but because it was over weight to be considered a carryon. So good note, for international flights (especially to Europe) be careful about the final weight of your packed bag.
I have this same carry-on. And for the price you pay, you should be able to do what its advertised to do. Laptop and use the other pockets in the front compartment without straining the seams. I was really disappointed in this carry-on. The handle was wobbly and felt loose. I purchased this to take on a trip to Mexico, and thankfully used it for a weekend getaway first. I took a $90 London Fog carry-on I got at Marshalls to Mexico and liked it so much more. Very regrettable purchase, especially for the money. When it came time to buy a check-in back I went to Beis instead.
I’ll have to check out the Beis bag. For the laptop pocket, I wasn’t too mad because it only messed with the seams when I added a laptop and portable monitor and tried to Mack out the pockets. But I totally understand your feelings
Hi!! I have used this in the overhead bin on United, Southwest, Spirit, Aero Mexico, and Copa Airlines. Happy to say it fits on domestic and carryon overhead bins.
I travel with Delta and American, does this bag fit nicely in the overhead bins or is it super snug and just barely makes the cut? I also am looking for a good carry on bag for a trip to Spain and I want a bag that I know I will not have to check (especially knowing they have weight restrictions and smaller size restrictions as well). Would you recommend a different bag for that trip and if so, what bag? Even if it is not Monos!
When I’ve used this bag on US legacy carriers (United, Delta, and American) to fly internationally, I’ve not had problems with carrying on based on weight or size. But I did have to check the bag due to weight restrictions on Emirates. The challenge with this and other comparable hard-sided suitcases (Monos, July, Away, and Beis)is that they all weigh around 8 lbs. and many non-US airlines allow about 17 lbs for a carryon. If I need to guarantee not checking a bag, I usually go the backpack route with the Peak Design travel backpack. It’s 4.5 lbs with a 30L capacity (the Monos carry on pro plus is 8.38 lbs. and holds 46L). I did manage to pack for 9 days in Spain bouncing between Barcelona and Granada in the backpack without much trouble.
I just got my Monos Carry-on Plus. Right out of the box this review by Flirting with Travel has an egregious whopper. She goes on and on about the release lever on the handle being underneath the handle and how this causes it to accidentally release again and again. And she can't stop caviling about it. Wrong. In actual fact, ergonomically your hand presses down on it, so it's just the opposite. I almost was going to write to Monos while my luggage was en route b/c I was so worried after watching this "in-depth" review. Unbelievable lie. There is no way that the lever being under the handle isn't better. In truth, the palm of the hand actually presses down on the handle grip, even when you're pulling it behind you. There is no question this reviewer works for another bag company, or is getting free Tumi's or Beis's, I don't know. I honestly couldn't believe the, well, dishonesty. And I never write in the comment section. Won't be watching Flirting with Travel reviews anymore.
Lol no other bag company is paying me, but if you have the hookup, let me know😂. Maybe it’s just how I grip the handle, but my fingers hit the release over and over again as I walk with the bag. I am super happy that the handle fits in your hand well. It’s a good reminder that something that’s a problem for one won’t be a problems for others.
Just came across this channel, the reviewer did an excellent job. Not sure what is going on in your life but get a grip. I’ve never seen someone get so offended by someone else sharing their own personal experience that they make accusations against them. And you don’t push down on the top of a handle if you’re pulling it unless you’re making a tight fist around it like a maniac. Anyways, if the reviewer sees this you’ve earned a subscriber on the basis that you did an enjoyable, helpful, thorough review and just to cancel out any effect this commenter thinks he’s achieving by swearing off this channel.

I really enjoy this thorough review. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
This is a great review!! curious what you think about the less depth on the compartment with the laptop compartment??
Thank you for reviewing the handle and underside press button being a potential concern. Did not think of that!
Fantastic video!
Thank you so much for watching!

The apple in the saying you mentioned to me sounds more like “apple of my eye”. I love your review, thank you very much!
Nice detailed review. Thank You!
Love the review but I think I love you more! 😊 esp appreciate the upfront size graphic with the airlines. Brilliant!
Happy to help!

Nice. I put my liquids in a Zip lock bag, then in my toiletry bag for this exact reason.
Really really wish I would have done that! I’ve learned from that mistake 😄
Great review, the colour of the zipper was my main concern so I might choose my other choice, the olive green.

Anyway you could do a vid on your Gravel Explorer plus and the PeakDesign cubes in this carry on
Sure thing!
Dawn has a couple of models , it’s the Dawn PLATINUM that you look for.
Great review! I have a 17 inch laptop, would that fit in the front pocket as well?
My portable monitor is 17 inches and fits in the pocket along with my 15 inch laptop, so you should be all good with your laptop
@@FlirtingWithTravel Thanks so much!
I have a weird question. Does the suitcase have any tags in it at all ? I see the leather one but like anywhere else in the suitcase ?
Hey, no dangling tags, just very limited branding inside the bag. But if you get the Monos metro duffel it does come with a faux leather luggage tag
Thanks for this review!
Im struggling with buying this carry on or the Briggs & Riley Stmpatico hardside luggages. 😁

I’m guess the fabric has a gap at the bottom so that dirt and debris doesn’t accumulate. You can wipe and push things out if the openings you noted.
That’s a good note! I’ll start using it for that

Does this carry on plus pro fit in the over head on the air plane
