using a dop stick for lapidary

How to attach a dop stick to a stone for grinding and polishing. One way to do lapidary is to attach your stone to a stick that just makes it easier to work with. You cut pieces of dowel and heat up some special wax. You take the dowel and dip it into the heated wax and then push it on the back of the warmed up stone and it sticks. Once it cools it's ready to grind.

How long does the wax last? I mean is it reusable? What if the wax gets dirty? Do you ever have to throw it away and start with new wax? Can you mix new wax to refresh the old wax?

you can use it over and over. it does start to get rubbery so you just srcape it out when its hot and put more in. its inexpensive
