@rolandmiller5456 Thanks for that, I have rescued people in NB, doing that crap under 35 bridge in floods and both the 98 and 2002 floods around the lake. NB incident people were floating the flooded Guadalupe River and went over the spill and got caught in the Eddie. NB Responders couldn't reach them, I was fishing on Dunlap and heard the sreams loading the boat. I was 19, which was 35 years ago....I remember correctly about 8 people. Grabbed them all one by one with my boat about 2:00 am. in the morning. Flooding water is no joke. People responding, saying it's fine, TONS OF DEBRIS GOING DOWN WITH THEM.....Makes everything 100% unpredictable......
@@JustLikeHeaven77my husbands’s kayak flipped over in the Guadalupe river a couple of years back. The river was not even flooded. It has strong whirlpools and jagged rocks. He lost all his gear, got a bump in the head but I’m glad he didn’t drown. The life jacket saved his life. So river water regardless of height and strength can still kill you.
I did it once when a teen on the Pedernales during a 20’ rise in the 70s. Went over a low head dam way down river and then it was a fight for our life..and we almost lost. It’s not always the water that kills but the debris, tree trunks and limbs that crush or drown you even with a PFD. We knew going in it was dangerous. It took us several miles to get out and we luckily grabbed some shore bushes and pulled ourselves out. Lost our shoes and walked miles through woods and pastures to a ranch house and they called our friend to get us. They found our damaged canoe 20 miles downriver with my buddies bag and wallet still attached. To put kids and animals at risk is completely nuts.

Decide to risk your life, fine....risking the life of a child that doesn’t recognize the potential danger, you should be arrested and child/children removed from the home until you have completed 1000 hours of parenting classes and risk management classes!!! Fast moving water is extremely dangerous!
I drive that road to play Rebecca creek quite a bit (live in CL). Seeing all those stumps and jagged rocks when it’s dry combined with the current and muddy water…definitely risky, especially with a kiddo. Be safe and thx for the updates.
I don't care their experience level. River in flood condition is unpredictable and high risk. Not only were they putting their lives in danger but also that of any first responders that would have attempted rescue should the unthinkable have happened. This is irresponsible parenting.

I can confirm what you were told on TikTok. The person in the yellow boat is an Olympic canoeist and canoe/kayak instructor. He likely knows the river better than most of us. That said, it's likely not a smart move for most people in Central Texas to pull this off. Our rivers don't usually exist in this state, so we don't have the opportunity to provide education on this sort of water.
The Guadalupe river drowns people every year. Why in the world would you risk being on this dangerous flooded river with your child? I have to say it "STUPID!"
Exactly, I just responded to someone else. I have risked my life before to save people in flooded waters around our area. Several times actually, that yesterday made me sick to my stomach.
I did the same thing during the Memorial Day flood back in the day. It was on Barton Creek. We were in a raft.We hit the upstream dam at Barton Springs, there was a 12-14 foot standing wave. Thats where we crashed and burned. Everyone was ok but we got flipped.I guess it was late in the 1970s.
I trained our Heeler under the dam when she was a puppy. The video is on the channel, but no way would I do that with her. It was purely because we run the river with a jet outboard. If she ever got thrown out, I don't want her to panic. Now, she loves riding the biggest waves in the surf. 😂
Check out my comment in your other video that you posted just before this one. I was in Gruene some years back when the river was flowing over the Gruene Road bridge (before they rebuilt it). The water was in flood stage just like it is now and we saw a woman who had been thrown from her kayak get washed into the bridge railing. We were on the Gruene side at the water's edge, but we couldn't get to her from where we were because of the force of the water rushing over the rail and over the roadway. Finally, she had to let go of the railing and go UNDER the bridge. She popped up a few dozen yards downstream from the bridge and one of her companions was able to paddle his kayak out to her and get her out of the water. That river is very unforgiving when it floods. She was lucky. That would have been a body recovery if there had been any debris under the bridge that she could have gotten caught on.
