The Prelude, or the Crystal Theme, is the main theme from Final Fantasy and is composed by Nobuo Uematsu. It's a recurring piece of music that appears in most Final Fantasy games. It's generally heard during the introduction or on the file select screen. When you hear it for the first time in every game, you realize you're going to play an other masterpiece...

This song.... I'm in my mid thirties, so I was there when the original nintendo came out. I am still an avid gamer. This song is the one that makes me cry. The only two that can hold a candle to it is the Legend of Zelda or Secret of Mana theme.
This is a beautiful, haunting piece that instantly takes me back to my childhood. I've been playing FF VI for 2 decades now, and this music still gets to me. Thanks for this!

1997 was like yesterday for me too, I can vividly remember rushing home from blockbuster with my best friend on our mountain bikes. We didn't stop playing till 3am that Friday, alternated on the PS1 controller for 1 hour intervals!

This song will be played at my funeral as everyone enters and takes their seats. I doubt many will show up, but I'll at least get to hear some good music one last time before they put me in the ground.

Wow, this was really well done. Any tips for getting the arps in the left hand? I can do it with both hands crossing over, but just my left is way more challenging and I really want to play the chords with my right
+gimmeyowallet Well, you can watch what I'm doing with my left hand in the video. Basically, when your left hand goes up, you have to move your ring finger over your thumb when you play a note with your thumb. And when it goes down, you have to move your thumb under all your other fingers when you play a note with your ring finger. It's not easy to do at first, but it will come naturally after some practice :)

Most similar to FF VII, which I bet this is based off of. VI is the second closest.
Old thread I know, but this is most similar to FF4. Actually it is the prelude to 4 I'm almost certain (just slowed down) Final Fantasy IV (II) Music: Prelude
In the FF IV prelude, the non harp portion that starts at 1:00 is an octave below this video. It's FF VII.
I made this from FFVII and slowed it down, but it's not that different from other versions.
