I tried the sugru tip, and it works perfectly! My down tube is tapered, and I had to build up one side to make the sensor parallel to the magnetic ring. I also used zip ties with sugru. The sensor stays perfectly in place over bumps, bad roads, etc. Thanks!!
Thanks for showing your trial and error. I found this while looking for a solution to attach a sensor on a step through with nonstandard frame size and angles. Really helpful!
The pas sensor of my non working bike has a led that State in the whole time so I wanted to know if the led is supposed to blink when turning the wheel and now I know. I suppose I have to replace it. Thanks!
Those sensor are smart; able to differentiate forward or backward peddling. I was not aware that there is a distinction with these PAS but upon looking closer, the kit has option to specify what you want. I would go for the PAS on the ring side because it is more difficult to knock it out of position and hidden from view. One tip. The old BB (bottom bracket), the right and left side is slightly longer then the other, at least on my Dahon 2002 model.
I had to put the disk at the right side due to the lack of free space between the crank and the frame. I’ve bought a KT-D12R sensor and fitted it on the right side. I have to keep the setting on the swytch-controller on ‘run forward’. It works perfect and actually looks better since the PAS-disk is neatly tucked away next to the crankset.
CTheSlayer Still running fine after 1 year. I often go mountainbiking without the kit (Changing my front wheel, removing the bag and alligning my disk brake takes 3 minutes), and you hardly see that it’s not an ordinary mountainbike. I wonder why they don’t sell all their kits with the disk fitted on the drive side! :)
@@Nougatti123 I have contacted Swytch and they have told that they know of no one using alternate PAS sensors and according to them, people have had no luck switching to the right side. As do I 😊 did you manage it❓️Is there a way to secure the magnet ring with NO gap, I've not seen a way yet, I've ordered my Swytch Bike kit....I've also got to buy different forks too...
Great informative video . Only had my Swytch Bike Kit a week and been out once on it and was inicially impressed, but after about 9 miles my motor would stop for a few seconds and restart for a while, this was happening mostly on hills, some steep. I did have my Max power pack on all the time which was probally wrong. Did check my disk and censor incase they had got splashed with muddy water or was slipping on the crank shaft, they seemed ok. As it was my first time out with it i don't know how it feels when the battery is almost spent. I did plod on for another few miles under my own steam by which time the battery was completly dead. Maybe i should only put the power on when approaching hills, also i found when freewheeling down hill with the power left on, the motor was acting like a magnetic brake and slowing me down, they didn't tell me about this, as far as i can see i will have to keep switching the power button on and off all the time to make the kit work efficiently, ( a right pain ) there is no way i will get 32 kms out of it where i live, as they claim. Time will tell.

Also had a problem positioning as not enough of a gap between frame, magnet and PAS! A more slim line PAS needed. Had to remove the clip and the rear cover of the PAS for it to fit! Then gorilla tape to secure. Hoping water ingress isn't going to become an issue!
I have the same issue but Swytch eventually responded to my support emails with a solution they will send out. Their "v12" design PAS comes on a ring inserted between the frame and physically detached pedal arm. We will see if this works.

Interesting. Just thinking out loud. With those struggling for space on the chin set side. What’s wrong with using the other side, that nothing attached and more room? Is this a given across bikes? Thanks.
I appreciate your video. I have my old swytch bike with magnetic disc next to crank and working fine. I got another one for my son to do the same exact installment, it does not work for his bike. It does the same exact result as yours. If I buy pas sensor - right side mount, would it work?
If you can change the settings it should work. I think there was an option on the original lcd display kit. This bike was fixed with sugru SWYTCH kit Full Suspension Ebike conversion kit Build 3 1999 Kona Stab ruclips.net/video/at7Qbwxm3ss/видео.html The video shows how the rotation angle of the sensor makes a big difference.
I tried changing the setting as you did and the same result. I do not want to have a magnetic disc on the left side since my son is 11 and it would be so easy to knock it out unexpectedly. I tried the different angles of a PAS sensor, so it is not something to do with the angles per se. I am not able to connect with Swytch customer service to help me out with how I am able to work the magnetic disk on the crank side like my old bike.
I had to fit a spacer from mounting ring bracket to the sensor to give me the 3mm gap to the magnet ring. All good but I dont have an lcd computer what is the best way to turn off the sensor. I think there are 3 wires so how do i disable the sensor. I'd likr to control it with a switch but not sure which wire pair to switch. Thanks for the video.😀😀
I haven’t tried adding a switch. I was going to try with a vintage gear shifter to move the sensor far enough away to make it stop. Then move it closer to switch it on. Using the front mech.
Good evening . And how many BETTER magnets should this sensor have!? I have an older model bike; / There is NO on-board computer, only a small board with LEDs. and its natural PAS sensor consists of only 5 magnets!!! / Today there are 8 of them and there are also 12 magnets. So is it possible to replace 5 magnets with 8? What will change!? Will there be problems later on the road!? Thank you .
Doesn’t matter too much. The magnet passes the sensor which engages the motor. 1 magnet would still work but if you are pedalling slowly the motor would come on less

Simply, working surface supposed to be on the sensor side.
Thank you so much
Does this pas works with any controller or just kt controller?
As long as the magnets pass the sensor you should be OK. Others have used alternative PAS discs with different amounts of magnets and had success.
setting for lcd 3 display? if i paddle backwards the lights blinks but the motor does not spin can you help me please?
Sounds like it’s on the wrong side
Can’t 2 of the 3 wires be swapped over for running on the other side if needed surely that’s the only difference between L & R sensors
