Hello Edgar, as a passinate hobby violin maker, I like your videos very much as a chance to look over the shoulders of a very experienced and successful master. I am very interested, besides the obvious things in violin making, in the unspectacular but important themes, such as tool care, the sharpening pocedure (is ist a daily ritual?), do you have favorite tools, did you make tools by yourself? wich are the best fitting scraper shaves in your daily work....and other secrets that ease the daily work. Thanks for an answer and perhaps a video!

Nice little video! I'm sure this is something many people don't consider important at all, but I don't think it's easy at all to get the label "right". It's some balance between asthaetics and uniqueness that I at least haven't found yet myself. The same goes for branding. I didn't brand anything myself for a long time because I thought it was very pretentious to do as an amateur, but after branding my cello bridge, I don't ind it that weird anymore and will probably brand my next instruments too. Because even if it's not a master instrument, I like the thought that people can see that it isn't, if that makes any sense?
Anyway, always nice to see another video from you :-)
    Cheers, Tobias

A quick question (irrelevant tho) do shoulder rests affect the sound quality

      Yes of course!
I will make a video about this later on.

Maybe for master instruments you should have a wood engraving and print them the old fashioned way, that would be hard to rip off.

Great video thank you! Is there an easy way to remove labels on a finished violin?
I have a violin which was shop adjusted and there is an adjustment date label inside of it which I wish to remove.

you put labels inside the instruments. Is there any reason why the labels can't be burnt into the wood? Labels usually come off over time...

I have an old violin - the label is not paper but an stamp like label made with black ink....Says Adolf Benson, Attleboro 1926...not a musician here just like the looks, it hangs on my wall=)
