- In todays video I test out #TotalBoat flexepox and 4 minute epoxy to see if they will work for attaching scales to a knife tang. I didn't use any mechanical fasteners for this project, and was very pleased at the results.i hope you all liked the cartoon! it was my favorite show when I was a kid.

Nice video. You get a like just for the 80's animation!
Thanks!
Needs a bend test for flexiness…
Now do the same thing with gflex verses the totalboat 24 hour set
Ok. Ill put it in the list of videos I'm making!
Great test. I dig the MASK montage.
I would like to see the West systems/3m/Total boat test.
Haha thanks! My favorite show when I was a kid. I think I’m going to do that test!
I doubt either of those handles would have ever failed under normal use. Even if you hammered on the back of the blade, it still wouldn't be the amount of stress you exerted durring the test. Even with rivets you could still have drove a chisel between the blade and wood and separate it. Either of these epoxy would do fine without brass pins. Worst case scenario is glue them back on if they eventually failed. Its still nowhere near the amount of work as using pins. If I glue mine on I can remove them easier to change handles and appearance. I may want to switch from wood to bone handles and back again. I say the epoxy is sufficient. Imagine if the knife blade has holes for pins and the epoxy sets up in the holes. Enough said.
That was a great test, thanks for the info!
I’m starting to make my own knife for the first time! And I’m looking for what kind of epoxy to use for the handle but I couldn’t find anything helpful, but I found your video and It helped me a lot!!! Thanks you for the video! *subscribed*
