Great video... Thanks. :) The hydraulic hose from the post to the pump is on backwards. If you flip the hose around the tight 90 will be on the post and the sweep 90 will be on the pump.
terrific job on the video! I've passed a link on the the advantage lifts team. Just finished my install, but I'm still tweaking the cables on my end as one side's carriage is a bit higher going up than the other. Posts are level though, verified by laser, and when I lower to the safety stops the carriages level out perfectly. Hearing your lift single click when raising proves it can work properly. Also regarding the manual, they have a new version available that's MUCH better. Just give them a call on the number displayed on their website.
The plug on the opposite side of the hydraulic manifold can be used. Install the hose there and move the plug to where you have the hose installed. Thats how Advantage does it in their video (after having the same issue you did on their own video!) Eliminates the shimming. Good workaround by you though.
You should be very proud of yourself. This is a very detailed video. Thanks for taking time to share your handy work. I love the shop by the way. I assume that this shop is on your property....
This lift has chains and rollers on the top of the cylinders, and today the majority lift manufactuers don't use this kind of old design anymore. They all use direct pull like Forward or inverded cylinders (Like Rotary, Bendpak, Challenger) to push the carriages up. This way, you don't need to service the chains and rollers as they get older. Also, the U-shape parts (on the carriages) that hold the arms has a big gap, it will make the vehicle weight gets on the pins instead of the arms.
Nice lift. Looks like close to that side wall though. If you ever need to work or brakes or pull an axle, you can open the window and reach it from outside.
Very nice looking lift. I just installed a Champion 9500 lb lift in my shop. It is symmetrical but 2 of the arms are a little shorter and the manual says the short ones should on on the rear but I would think shorter on front. I'm gonna call their customer service tomorrow to double check.
I just bought a Bendpak 10,000 lbs symmetrical lift. The front arms on mine are shorter when retracted . I thought the same as you. The AS lift has shorter arms. When extended the arms are the same length. They did this to make getting under the FRONT of the vehicle easier. I thought they shipped an AS by mistake but it is symmetrical.
@@WindRider1 mine are different links, when fully retracted and fully extended. Two of my arms are clearly longer than the other two. I have reached out to our local champion person, and they have yet to give me a solid answer either way. I am keeping my shorter arms forward, as that makes the most sense to me and is the advice most people have given me so far.
Nice video! Except the motion was making me nauseous, so I had to just listen. I am also in northern Ohio and planning to get this same model, though I don't trust my skills enough to install it myself. This is one year later. Still going strong?
Great video- this should be on Advantage's website or RUclips Channel! I just ordered mine on Black Friday. The sale's been going on for a couple of months and I'm glad I finally pulled the trigger, especially after watching this video. I've been trying to figure out which lift to get for eight years and whether to get a two post or a four post and I went with the two post AL-SC10 because I will be working mostly on sports cars in my home garage and I think the 4 post would be more cumbersome to work with. An added benefit is that the lift will also see storage duty for cars that are being worked on (such as a car awaiting parts or a long term project) which allows for other vehicles to be parked underneath for short periods of time.
two post lifts are not suppose to be long term lift bays with cars underneath them from all the research i have done on lifts over the years. every dealer i have talked to all say don't do that with a 2 post lift, you want storage you were steered to a 4 post lift
@@garyring8306 I reread my post and I think I meant to say the lift I got is also going to be used as storage duty rather than only as storage duty. I edited my post to reflect this. I definitely don't intend to use it only as storage duty since the primary reason I got it was for ease of working around sports cars. The storage part is an added benefit- for example, parking a car underneath overnight or for a couple of days while the car being worked on stays on the lift until it's done being worked on.
Question? Why would you want a floor plate to have to stand on and walk over? It would be harder to roll a trans jack or and oil drain container. Just wondering?
Great video, I am currently planning on my garage build this spring. We look like we got the same taste. Im going to build a metal garage also and install an Advantage lift. Also I live out near Eastgate not too far from ya. Where was you able to pick up your lift? Was it local and was you able to save money on shipping. Thanks in advance Great Channel you got going
So you have had this lift for a while have you had any issues, are you lifting a large truck like an F250? One concern I have is there wrb site does not show metal thickness. What is the steel thickness for the columns and the actual lift arms. What are the column measurements?
I looked at this lift and a Bendpak. He stated his lift was approximately 1500 lbs and 12 ft 2 inches long. I bought the Bendpak for the same price as the Advantage. It is 1800 lbs and 12 ft 8 inches long. How did I get $5000 plus lift for $3000? I asked if they had any scratch & dent lifts. They did have exactly what I was looking for. They sent me new decals and cans of spray paint for the touch ups. I have a brand new and new looking lift. Huge difference in quality and thickness of the steel.
I have the same lift. I installed the side covers open end up as per directions. I paid $3,995 received it less than two days before website posted sale price of $2,995. Manual was shredded, parts missing from box that had come apart in shipping, posts scratched up. Customer service was like pulling teeth. Finally got a PDF copy of manual (poor excuse for a manual if you want to install it yourself). Never received missing parts. Never received any satisfaction from scratches, torn up safety stickers...they said that they filed with the shipping company for a refund/partial refund...if they ever got it I was NEVER informed. I think the lift is OK but I wouldn't buy from them again.
Yep, thats how they are supposed to be. The handle side that was pre-assembled was put on the wrong side making it not line up with the cover. When i get some spare time i am going to fix it
The only comment I would have is the location of the hoist relative to the outside wall/edge of concrete slab. It looks like the walls and concrete edge are within a few inches of eachother meaning your baseplate anchors are very close to the edge of your concrete outside. Extra perimeter concrete footer thickness is not going to help you. I believe all concrete anchors require a minimum of 6" from the edge of concrete, you probably have over that but I would keep an eye on that area, any cracks are likely due to failure related to that fact. The anchors work on compressing concrete around the hole so they are trying to break concrete out away from the bolt. I agree with the locks firing at the same time, I agree with others it makes sense to hear the double click but the easiest way to dump a vehicle off the lift is to catch one side and lower it with the other side of vehicle dropping to next lock point below. You should always watch to make sure that both sides hit the same locks never take for granted that it will work right. Good luck very nice informative video and nice lift.
You are absolutely right. My concrete pad extends a few inches outside of the walls so i am about 8" away for my bolts. Ill keep an eye on them. This was something i didn't realize about the layout of the garage until it was too late. Basically when i got the lift in there and Installing it. If i had to do it over again i would have put the man door on the one side of the garage and that would have given more space between the wall and the lift. Live and learn i guess lol
Do you know that your hydraulic hose can actually go on the other side of the tank? Just take out the fitting with the Alan head move it to the other side and then move your hydraulic hose to the same side as it’s coming out of your post.
To be honest im not sure, you can probably call and ask them about that. When i called to order my lift the guy was extremely nice and knowledgeable and answered any questions I had
4500 psi if i remember right with rebar and mesh, 5" for most of the shop. The area for the lift we let it go more on the 6 to 7" range. Overkill but id rather be safe than sorry
thanks for the video. can you please do me a favor and take measurements from the floor to the highest point? their description and schematics says 142.5" but Advantage Lifts sales person says it won't fit under 12' (144") high ceiling?
interesting as they are only hour and half from me so that is appealing .Bendpak seems to have some downsides and complaints about their customer service
Bendpak customer service is A-1 to me. Just purchased a 10,000 lbs XPR-10S. It had some missing parts and some scuffs and torn decals. I emailed them and the parts, decals, and spray paint were shipped the same day.

I'm in the middle of installing this exact lift right now. The lift is fine. Their manual SUCKS and the video on RUclips is only marginally better.
Going to get this lift sometime this summer, got to finish my shop and get concrete done.
It's a good investment,hope I can help you!

Can you show inside the box how you wired the safety switch. I have my lift all done except for that. Thanks for the video.....
just snip the black wire between the A2 terminal on the contactor and the blue switch body, wire the switch to each end of that.
Great video

I'm over 6 feet tall. Will that lift a car high enough so I can walk under it without having to duck?
Great video...thanks
Great video 👍 I am curious though, being that close to the side wall do you have enough clearance to stand on the side and do brakes / tires etc.?
I'm looking at advantage ALSF10 , same as yours but with a floorplate , I wish I could hear some long term reviews about them
I may do a review in a year. Im already getting alot of use out of it. Currently have a ford fusion on it. Works great 👍

How far away from the wall did you put it?
You should not mount posts close to edge of slab (wall side)... there is not enough concrete to stop lateral movement...

What is the wall height of your shop. I'm planing on building one with a lift.
Wall is 12 ft. My lift is 11' 11" so 12 would be the minimum id suggest if you're putting a lift in

@WindRider1 Hi, is your lift made in USA, or they all made in China now?
Im looking for a lift like this , i live near Nashville Tennessee, do they have a dealership close to me, i could pick it up myself,
Why not purchase one from a Chinese factory?
Randy what is the lift model?
AL-SC10 from advantage lifts
Will this lift work for smaller vehicles like a Nissan Altima
Yes, just had a ford fusion on it the other day
What's the size of your shop?
26x30 with 12 foot walls
Stick with Rotary or Mohawk and you will never have a problem.
People in the comments ask some really stupid questions, makes me wonder if they should even consider a lift.
Will it lift my dog ?
