I just installed a new Atlas BP8000 2-post lift in my home 3-car garage. Installed it on the 1-car side & ceiling is 9-foot 7-inch. Also had an electrician come wire my garage for 240v. All worth the investment.

One very important thing to consider when buying a two or four post lift is just because you have a 9000 lb lift you may not be able to lift a 8300 lb vehicle. Why? Because in the case of a 9000 lb lift, lifting more than 4500 lbs on the front 2 arms or 4500 on the rear 2 arms exceeds its capacity. So if you have a Duramax with a winch on the front that weighs 4800 in the front and 3500 in the rear, it exceeds the capacity of your 9000 lb lift. I have had a 10,000 lb lift in my garage for about 3 years and used it with many different vehicles but before i bought it I took a trip to the local weighing station to find out how heavy the heaviest vehicle I was planning on lifting. A 2000 F250 Super Duty Diesel is too heavy for a 9000 lb lift by 276 lbs. So thats my 2 cents. Im a safety concious guy who went overkill on installation by pouring 12" deep 5000 psi cement pads and 12000 lb lift anchor bolts instead of the recommended 4" deep 3000 psi cement.
Honestly I think your off. You really think a name brand hoist would not have taken into consideration that the front of a car or truck weighs more in the front then the rear? Just because you think the arms can only hold half the weight, I don't think so.

I had a mate put in a 2-post lift that was rated 4.5 tons and was a floor-plate model requiring 100mm of reinforced concrete slab. He poured 150mm with extra reo under the posts and put in conduit between the posts through which he pulled the cable and hydraulic hose. That meant he ended up with a beautifully flat slab to wheel tools around and no floor-plate. Super strong, super safe, super neat, super useful. He also rigged up some chain from the top of the post into his ceiling trusses which we both thought was overkill, but a cheap and easy safety feature.

What lift did you put in? I am trying to figure out how high to make my ceiling in a garage I am building, but my wife doesn't want a giant building. She wants it more like a garage.

All I heard here was a triumph commercial. Intended to take advantage of you and sell you one of the the cheapest and least backed lifts in the business. I’ve put up thousands of lifts and I’m proud to say that none of my customers ever ask me to install one of these.

1 have a 9000lb lift ,when i lift a crew cab dually truck , lift comes up very slow , can i replace motor with a upgrade more hp ? but when i look at differant lifts 10,000 11,000 they use the same 3hp motor
No, you can not. Motors are set to load ratings per lift. If you increase the motor, you are exceeding the load weight capacity of the lift and in violation and can "fold" the columns and have a potential deadly working environment. "You, the operator, make a lift safe", lift motors are rated specific to load rated lifts.

the trucks i am lifting are not over the 9000 lb rating , the motor built in china is under its 9000lb rating , just trying to lift a 7500 lb truck with a 9000lb lift i don't understand why there is a 3hp motor on all lifts 9000 10,000 11,000 ect 3hp is 3 hp
@@williamholdt3243 The factory sets the load rating. Yes, 9k-10k are the same motor, however they are set not to exceed set load rating. 12k and up start using different motors and as they are the same in their own, still factory set. Cheaper lifts will barely lift even the set factory load.
American standards are set much higher for the lift itself. The unit is capable of holding 1 and half times the set load capacity per US standards. However, pumping units are set not to exceed rated limits. Same pump, different load ratings, just adjusted not to exceed.
Lifts made outside the US do not meet the same set standards. Motors, load rating capabilities etc. You ultimately get what you pay for. Save a buck, get an inferior product.
Yes, your top name brands do sell an "entry level lift", and yes they are made in China but the quality is not always up to set standards.
It's kind of a crap deal, but it keeps the big American brands in the lower entry market.
If you want to lift a large vehicle, pay the extra money and get a quality lift. Most shops will not even attempt to lift anything over a half ton on a 2 post, goes straight to a 4 post with a higher load capacity with equal bridge jacks.
If you are buying a lift under $5000, you are getting what you pay for. Yes they will do the job, for most hobbyists at home but not on a commercial level.
It's hard to recommend any one brand of lift as an inspector, but I can tell you the big 3 are the ones to go with. Challenger, Rotary and Bend Pak.
That being said and having been to schools and certified as an installer, repair tech and National Inspector, I can say the one I replace the least parts on annually is a Challenger.
I replace more parts on a Rotary of the said top 3. Bend Pak has a horrible track record right out of the box. However, like Rotary, a good lift nonetheless.
Bend Pak has a bad cylinder record, still does but a quality lift. Horrible tech support but great customer service. Rotary just has to much plastic that wears out fast but a great product and great customer/tech support.
Make sure the truck weight is as you state. No boxes. No tools etc. Any, any added weight after the factory increases the weight. Some lifts do lift slower than others, just the pumps being used.
Also verify you have spotted the vehicle correctly, not implying anything, just check and see. If you load to far left, right, front or back, it will "bind" up the carriage blocks and cause it to "drag or slow" the rise.
Just some thought. I see a lot of improper use and added wear on lifts from very simple fixes. Refer to your owner's manual and lift guide to insure these are not the case.
The motors may be the same but the pressure relief valve`s are not.
