That turn signal makes good sense, if someone is slightly behind you they can actually see it.
I've had many experiences where I'm in heavy traffic and my first heads up someone wants over is when they get mad and aggressively try to butt over. I simply wasn't in a position to see the rear signal and the car lacked the mirror signals. Great idea, no doubt.
I wish they would have made the turn signals yellow. Yellow signals are safer because they're differentiated from brake lights. It's why Europe and Asia require yellow turn signals all around.
I believe it was designed so that semi drivers could see it is what they said. I owned a new car a few years ago with the turn signal in the rear bumper and a semi driver told me he couldn't see that I was changing lanes so I knew it was a problem and I'm glad someone addressed this.
@@bwofficial1776Agreed, most cars differentiate them well enough but some don't and having them all be amber eliminates all ambiguity
@@afterburn2600 reminds me of some KIA (carnival i think) turn signals in the rear bumber which you cant see in a traffic jam... had someone indicating for a while and nobody was letting them through cause they couldnt see them...
This company just dropped their prices by tens of thousands of dollars. Why buy one even at that price if they will not be around long to support warranty covered items.
Especially since it’s a piece of garbage. Later reviews list nothing but issues with it.

We’ve had our Fisker Ocean for 2 months now. We are so pleased we decided on the Ocean. Smooth to drive, and it literally saves us $220-240/month in fuel.
How is the real world range? I’m hoping to get one of these for my wife and I to share eventually or a 2nd vehicle (Aptera) at some point!

Doug is butthurt about this comment.
I'm genuinely glad Fisker was able to make it to production, I remember hearing about them years ago when it was a working prototype. I was worried that they would not make it to production and that the project would fizzle out, it's good that all these new car companies come out and bring their own style to market pushing innovation and creativity in car design and features. These companies are making cars fun again, and I wish them the best.
Fisker Ocean One possibly also gonna be on sale in Indonesia.
That california function to open all of the cars windows is something Honda has been doing for years. Pretty useful in the summer. Although I always wished you could program it so that the sunroof doesn't open. Apparently you can't in a Honda but maybe they gave you that option in this since it's such a modern design.
Don't expect them to survive
Hopefully karma doesn't get to them.

Fisker is targeting the value market. For what you get between $40 to $70k, the value is insane. Plus you have a fantastic design. Next up Fisker is planning the PEAR, which is a slightly trimmed down Ocean for under $30k, now that could be an actual game changer.

Test drove one this month. Super smooth ride. Very solidly built. Quieter than my tesla. Software lag wasn't an issue. Can't wait for my mid range ocean ultra to arrive. $50k for 350 miles and 3.8 0-60. Can't beat that.
Until you realize 350 miles in an EV is not really 350 miles, and thats at 100% SOT which they don't recommend. Also good luck charging on road trips. Im no Tesla fanboy by any stretch. This interior is way nicer on most other ev's, but I would not own a non tesla EV if I had any plans to road trip. Would you buy a gas car that could only fill up at certain gas stations and those stations filled slower? No way. Limiting the boost mode to 500 is so stupid. That should be eliminated immediately. Dial it back some if its going to hurt the car.

@@x-90 I just said they sell enthusiast vehicles
I'm genuinely excited for Fisker, Lucid and Rivian. They fill niches other car companies have been lethargic about, taking different approaches, and have different psyches than the old brands. Fisker is going for the most practical, value for money crowd (see the PEAR). Lucid is trying to be the new Cadillac. And Rivian is tapping into the Patagonia/REI crowd, with its outdoor friendliness. Real personality for all three, and different strengths, Lucid being supported by Saudis, Fisker by Magna Steyr/Foxconn, Rivian by Amazon.
Compared to these, I think the Hummer is just what you expect of a GM EV. Mustang Mach-E and F150 Lightning feels..kinda exactly what you would expect from Ford. Hyundai/Kia is appealing to the design-focussed crowd.
When shakeout comes, I hope these new brands survive instead of the old brands. They just seem hungrier and closer to what actual customer needs. I would spring for a PEAR with Toyota reliability in a heartbeat.
I'm waiting for Volvo to make a classic wagon styled EV. It's all SUVs so far, although the smaller more crossover-y ones are pretty close.
My dream is for a retro styled "new 240" but I don't think they'll do it.

The design is definitely the main reason to get it. I saw a Karma recently and it looked cool in my opinion.
Man I really love this car. If the U.S, can get a dependable service center model this will be my next EV.
I love my FOO - 1500 miles on it already and going strong. Great review - thanks Doug! Although, you should have noted that the screen will only go in the horizontal "Hollywood Mode" when in park so that you can watch TV while charging. Also - the passenger tray you mentioned as a potential option for the center armrest actually comes out of the dash where the glove box would be. You showed it on the video but didn't engage it.
does it also say NULL when looking at the production number?

That California mode sold me. I never was a fan of convertibles but the fact that all the windows as well as the giant sunroof open is such a cool quirk and feature.

Every time you hit the gimmicky California button.. you lose 10 miles of range…
quite a lot of cars have that feature, just Google it. Fisker's last company royally failed, and this is a bog standard EV crossover with a bunch of gimmicks sprinkled around. Not sure why anybody would buy this instead of any of the established car companies with a history of reliability or lack thereof and parts and dealership network.
I had a 2012 Lincoln MKS that did the same thing if you held down the unlock button.
Doug, like a lot of car reviewers misses the point of touchscreen climate direction.
The main advantage is, you can save profiles with the fans in different directions (especially significant for two driver cars where some people like air on their face and others on their body…or elsewhere)
The other big advantage is when you’re adjusting the air your hand isn’t in the way blocking the air that you’re trying to direct.
Car reviewers tend to miss this because they don’t live with the car day to day with a spouse or other drivers. They tend to get in the car for a short period of time and get frustrated that they can’t adjust the vents “quick” enough and say it’s inferior but with a short learning curve, it’s way superior!
Still love, watching Doug’s videos just wish everyone could figure this out.

The design interns certainly had fun with developing this car aha. I thought the design of the Karma was wonderful, despite the controversy surrounding the car and the company throughout the decade. The Ocean seems to be going in a new direction, it'll be interesting to see where it leads.
I did too. I love the look of the Karma. It had personality and beauty that make it feel like a car that nobody else would have. I feel the same way with the Ocean. Very quirky and a TON of awesome features. I LOVE that the climate controls have their own separate screen(which means if it ever fails it would be SO MUCH cheaper to replace than the large screen) which is seems a LOT of electric car manufacturers have made the mistake of putting them in the same screen as the main one.
This seems like the only compromise is the lack of a glove compartment, and even with that they still offer extra storage throughout the front of the car.
My state gave the first Fisker millions of dollars to open up in a recently closed GM plant. Fisker took the money and ran. The plant ended up getting sold to Amazon, who tore it down and built a massive warehouse. It would have been cool to see Karmas coming out of the old GM factory.
The design of the karma was in fact, not wonderful. Worst use of space rivaling the Aston Martin Rapide.
I love the tray! when you're sitting and charging, you very often are eating and it's great to see somewhere to put dipping sauce and whatnot. Every car should have this
Doug is so much fun to watch. And, he does spectacular reviews too.
Doug's the kind of guy to make a spreadsheet listing quirks on one axis and features on the other.
I actually really like the "FISKER" on the roor spoiler. It could easily be to much but somehow it looks great!
Nobody cares what you like.
I think it would look much better if it was just an outline of the text instead of solid lettering
Fisker? I hardly know 'er!

Interesting fact: The Karma was the only model Fisker made. “Fisker Automotive” went under in 2014. The company & design were then sold to a Chinese company (Wanxiang Group Corporation) in 2014 and renamed to “Karma Automotive.” They sold the old Fisker Karma as the “ Karma Revero” until 2021; they changed the model name to “GS-6” for the 2022 model year. Meanwhile - rewind back to 2016 - after a 2 year hiatus from the automotive world, Henry Fisker launched “Fisker Inc.” where he focused efforts on a slue of alternative energy projects (which were ultimately unsuccessful). It wasn’t until 2019 when Fisker Inc made the decision to start the multi-year long process of designing cars once again.

Fisker clearly did their research. This is what people want when theyre looking for an EV.
FYI I called my insurance company to see if they would insure this car and they said Nope 👎 only liability 😂
A friend of mine is visually impaired and had some concern about electric vehicles being too quiet to notice when crossing streets. This sound Fisker emits seems pretty expressive. Good move on their part.
I actually love the design language. It reminds me of the range rover evoque, that vehicle was SEXY. Also, small detail, but I'm not sure if anyone else was infatuated with the fact they made all the windows open at their own speed so that they all reach the top/bottom simultaneously.
Edit: im actually shocked at the pricing of this vehicle. Usually quirky companies try to mega charge for the commodity value, but actual competitive pricing??? interesting

Yes the Evoque is probabky the only sexy SUV but this looks nothing like it... Maybe a bit similar window height and waist line.

Calling a $70,000 EV "competitively" priced is ... interesting. It's priced into the luxury segment, and carries the uncertainty of being built by a brand new company helmed by the CEO who failed the last time he tried to make a car company.... at a $20k premium to the model Y and other similar EVs from established manufacturers, it actually seems highly priced and clearly appealing to niche buyers.
I recently bought a mercedes eqa and i love it, but damn at this price point I would’ve rather have got a fisker ocean
Merc's reliability sounds like a more known quantity than Fisker's though, don't fret just yet

Thank you for your review Doug I will be definitely considering Fisker for next my SUV / EV
Doug, love watching your video, again. I am glad that many more car companies are bringing up new EV models. It makes it better for all of us, one day owning one. As off today, I just can't see myself spending around 70K on a fairly small SUV just beacuse its electric. I am staying with Hybrid for now. Giving an option and stress free to switch gas/EV. Fisker is a pretty new comapny. I will refuse to drive 2 hours for service or repair even under factory coverage. Also, not enough charging stations in the USA, yet. It will come, not yet. Solid State batteries are also coming with 6-700 MPC. That is an atractive deal for me. I say, good things will come to the one who wait. I am !!!
The problem is statistically speaking no one is buying anything other than Tesla's.
I have delivery of one in a couple weeks. Thanks for the review! Love the look and that MAGNA built it.
In 18 months when Fischer goes belly up…. Then what?… a soon to be bankrupt Rivian ?
Exciting. Congrats!
Same here …. I think 😂
Who else can't wait to see Doug review the Aptera? What's also cool is that they're located right in Doug's neck of the woods. I like what direction Fisker is headed in. The Ocean seems like a great car, and the other cars they announced seem like they should be able gain some traction in the EV space.
I'm with you but Doug doesn't review prototypes, he always wait until there's a production model (or very close production intent), that's why you haven't seen a Cybertruck review either.
Idk if the aptera will ever make it to production tbh, but the fisker pear looks promising, it has a solar roof, nothing like Aptera though.
@@feandil666I don’t think that’s true. I don’t think the cyber truck is anywhere near being reviewed yet. He reviewed the Rivian truck prototype, a prototype of the Bronco, some crazy electric racing type super car and a few others.
I didn't know my 20-years old Skoda has "California mode". I used to call it "open all windows from the fob" )))
I really do hope they do well. This seems like an excellent and more affordable option than the competitors you mentioned. Its def qwirky but that makes it fun.
I believe this also has the highest EPA range for an EV in its class. Great stuff!
Yes it does!
So glad you finally got a chance to review this car! Knew you'd like it. Wish it had a frunk, but that's not a deal killer. Do you think with some over the air updates they'll be able to tweak suspension enough for the handling to be noticeably better than a Model Y or Mach-e?
There's an update expected to come by the end of the year to add "smart traction" which will improve handling.
I don’t like to be on the bleeding edge of technology and be the first adopter, but if this vehicle proves successful, I’d consider owning one.

Fantastic video Doug! Absolutely loving FISKER! 🌅🙌
I saw one on the tollway in Dallas a few weeks ago. Very cool that Fisker was able to make it to production, I wish them well.
It is December and I have seen two of these in the Pacific Northwest. 360 miles of range and a 4ish second 0-60 are pretty impressive. Let's hope these are reliable and assimilate well into the EV world.
Nobody better to display the quirkiness of this car! Some really unique quirks! I love that California mode and that silly cargo window. That's an awesome feature. Very interesting model.
i feel like he excused a lot of dumb design decisions on this fisker tbh. could be that its on his cars and bids or that he's drawn to quirky new things but this didn't feel genuine at all.
Yeah Doug has the best review of this car
@@a-don13Yep, he does the same with Tesla. It seems like he was a shill for the car because he has interest in the sale of it.
Man do I miss coupes, sedans, and wagons. This era of oversized suburban kid carrier SUV/crossovers being everywhere is tiring.
That being said, as far as family trucks go, this looks pretty good tbh. The key fob window controls, and the all window button is a nice touch. The qarter glass turn signal may not be necessary but looks decent and does add to safety i guess.
Interior looks decent except for the enormous floating screen. I can't stand floating screens in general, but this one is enormous. I just do jot understand why anyone wants a huge bright screen slapped on top. Tablets have been everywhere for a decade, it's not new or impressive. What would ve impressive would be a nice elegant dash and then all the settings and screen info put in the digital main guage cluster instead.
Nonetheless, honestly theyve done a good job with this overall as far as bulky crossovers go.
In Europe they still have plenty of them
You can actually turn off the large screen with a quick push and hold of a button while still having everything else on. At least on this one you can flip it horizontal or vertical.
This is a lot smaller than it looks, more along the lines of a tallified small wagon. Visual design can make a big difference-the Model Y is about the same size and it looks like a subcompact when you don't have a human for scale because they basically drew a subcompact and then scaled it up in all three dimensions equally.
They do it because it’s cheaper than building out a whole integrated dash with everything. It all comes down to money and manufacturing time and with every other brand doing it, that’s the way others will go as well. I at least like that they kept hvac buttons separate from the screen.
@@mortensenvick5711We're getting more stupid oversized crossovers by the day here in the Netherlands.
Thank you so much for reviewing a Fisker. As a motorist who wants something smaller, I have my eye on the PEAR.
So detailed, you covered everything as usual, leaving no stone unturned... Excellent video!
Love the design! The screen lag is supposed to be improved with coming software updates
Sure hope it doesn't turn out like the Fisker Karma.
Much less interesting tho
Yeah, it would be unfortunate if a shipment of 'Oceans' were damaged by the ocean.
It’s almost like Lucid, Fisker, and Rivian should merge, as all their models complement each other to form an entire product range.

Your comment about "eye catching without being ugly" is VERY important. It's about 95% of the problem with automotive design today. Designers focusing on eye catching instead of at attractive. It seems like a simplified explanation, but it isn't. Following trends and trying to be striking is why we have the BMW grills on ugly cars.

I’m still debating on trading my Jaguar I pace first edition for an ocean. Such a cool unique vehicle!
I personally wouldn't. Unless you have high milage on it and other things. But I personally think that your jag will be more collectable and have a higher chance of selling for the price you'd want just because of thae fact that it's a Jaguar.
On the other hand this has the same possibility to become extremely collectable and sell for some crazy price in 20-30 years. Or not, it all depends on quite a few different factors that over the coming years that could or could not happen. The main reason this car will be collectable is that there won't be nearly as many made.
But when it comes to your Jag, it'll always have it's brand legacy to fall back on to make it desirable.
(Well.... except for the few years when Jag was sold [I can't remember what American company bought them at this very moment.] and they were made extremely cheaply. But other than an EXTREMELY Niche market, people won't want to hunt those down and collect them.) Unlike the one you have.
But I could be wrong about all of this, it's all just speculation at the moment.

@@Shiznittlebizbampop1 thanks for your detailed reply! I agree with what your saying. The I pace is a very rare vehicle in the US and the first editions even more so. Presently the I pace is taking a massive deprecation hit with bad press about battery fires. JLR is not know for reliability and it also being an EV has also probably contributed to that. I bought mine used 4 months ago. It had 17k miles on it and was in perfect condition. I paid $43,500 before tax etc. Brand new it stickered for 90k! So far it’s been amazing and hasn’t given me any issues. It handles just as well if not better than the Alfa stelvio I used to have. That was a great car too, got totaled when I was sitting at red light by a dui. The quality of materials and sound deadening is top notch. Yes the ocean is about a second quicker to 60 but if it has poor handling and is worse in the other categories I just mentioned then that’s really going to be the deciding factor. I tried giving Tesla a chance and rented a new top spec model x and it was laughable in how bad the quality was, and much more road and tire noise intrusion.
Back to the jag. Even though presently it’s value is not doing well at all, in 20-30 years the collectibility of the i pace may increase the value by a lot, especially it being jaguars first EV. It’s my daily driver so if I have that mindset it can’t be my only vehicle. In that case I may also decide to get the ocean and keep the I pace garaged. It would be a lot more money going out monthly but I can probably scrape by if I went that route. Ugh it’s hard, decisions, decisions. 😂
Solar panels on cars, specially SUV's and Estates that have long roofs are way too rare and underrated in my opinion.
If the car is in the sun getting super hot then the solar panels are getting power so then they can power the AC to cool the car.
Or if it's an electric/hybrid car and you maybe only have 5mile or less commute to work then it can replenish some if not all of that power while you're at work that way you have to charge less often, so one less thing to think about.
I heard they break and only 60% of the panels work delivered.
They don’t produce more energy than they cost to make
Damn 1500 miles a year. About 4 miles a day. Definitely useful for going to the store and back.
The only positive review I've seen of this car

@@mickeymang6 My thoughts too. Just like having motors to move the air vents that you control digitally on the screen. So many points of failure for what?
I’m impressed! I like that it’s not built in America, but I would have to wait a few years for them to work out the bugs. 👍🏻
Pretty sure Magna Steyr made my BMW Z4. Also Toyota Supra and a couple Jaguars.

Best overall Fisker Ocean review so far!. Is the brake regent aggressive (like a Tesla X for example) and is it adjustable?

I test drove the Ocean recently and there are different levels of regen braking. I chose the option with the least possible regen braking and I didn’t feel it at all, which is great in my opinion. When I test drove the model Y the regen braking was super distracting imo
Been waiting to see you review the Ocean...this vehicle is amazing 👏

Doug forgot to show what's there instead of the glove box - it's another tray you can pull out. They call it the "Taco Tray".
If you look at the panel of buttons on the drivers door for all the windows and mirrors, there is a button on the top right next to the window lock button and it looks like it has an arrow pointing to where the cargo area windows would be, maybe that is the button to control those cool cargo area windows?
I'm pretty sure that button is to fold in the outside mirrors. However, it doesn't look quite like other folding mirror buttons I've seen..
A+ this car is amazing, 1000X better than 99% of electric cars. I truly hope Fisker Survives because they are revolutionary and are changing the game

Having the "California" mode open up all the windows can have different meanings depending on the city of California Fisker is referring to
I am curious to the quality of the components being used, like in the suspension, driveline, brakes etc. Also if there are no dealerships per say, where to you get them fixed or repaired at?, or even order parts for them? If anyone knows just post here?

They seem to gave really put a lot of thought into the car. I like the recess they added for the middle back seat.
Regarding the handling, i believe torque vectoring hasn't been enabled yet which should improve things. Due in an OTA update next year.
i'm a fan of electric cars that dont make an attempt to sound like actual cars and go for a spaceship sound instead. that will always be cooler to me

The Jeep XJ had optional pop open back side windows on the 2 door, the 4 door XJ may have been similar. I would have put those on my XJ, but I cut a hole in the roof for ventilation, & that worked.
