    My GF3 and my experience with PSA has been pretty flawless. I recently tried Pioneer's trainer, and experienced a collapsed recoil assembly, light primer strikes on every mag, and stuck casings, and four attempts to resolve it. They relented in trading the trainer for a 5.56, but sent it to the wrong FFL. I really want these companies to succeed. I want more people joining the hobby from every budget. The more shooters, the more 2A support, the greater the brotherhood of the Kalashnikov. Great video, brother!

    I'm an AR guy whose AK curious, thanks to Klay and Robski. I watched the whole video to hear Klay say that most Americans are running brass 5.56. Only AK guys have a bunch of steel cased ammo. Yes it should run steel. No I don't care that it doesn't. Yes I want 1.

If you can go to the store and handle one and you will see the difference in how they are built. Put steel mags I. Them and you will be in love.

    gunsmith opinion, the reason why there's failures with steel case is because the thermal expansion vs unlocking time is cutting it close, meaning the steel case hasn't fully retraced from the heat cycle of you know, going bang, so when the bolt carrier to begins the unlocking procedure, it rips the rim off because the casing still is "expanded". Brass is more malleable, and has a shorter heat cycle or whatever. A way to fix this is either polishing the chamber, or you know, not having such a short gas system to begin with.

    • @KCWeapon
      @KCWeapon 2 месяца назад

      Polishing the chamber was my first thought as well. I would be curious to see what it looks like right out of the box.

    • @EverydayAmerican
      @EverydayAmerican 2 месяца назад +3

      I've heard this line of thinking quite a bit but, I think case design plays a bigger role. Rounds with a tapered case, like both x39 rounds, will always outperform a straight cased round, like the 5.56, when talking about extracting and exiting the breach. It's the reason steel cased 5.56 doesn't play well in both ARs and AKs when the two have completely different cycle times.

    • @KCWeapon
      @KCWeapon 2 месяца назад

      @@EverydayAmerican I have has similar stuck steel cased 556 in an AR15 in the past but I for sure see what you mean and it makes perfect sense.

    • @slappp6163
      @slappp6163 2 месяца назад

      @@EverydayAmerican Now normally you would be entirely correct, but the taper of the casing doesn't really matter all too much. The tapered casing helps with feeding and seating inside the chamber, not so much on extraction. Gun physics is weird, but, as a whole, steel case has more friction on the system over brass. That's why you see steel case with the slick green lacquer coating on the rounds themselves, it's not a cosmetic choice!

    In the past I have polished the chamber with flitz metal polish and a cleaning kit mop and cordless drill to remove concentric rings left when they bore the chamber this was the only way I got ars to run steel with out stuck cases look at the chamber if machine marks are present it will never run steel look at the case you will notice carbon on it that is what gets stuck in the machine marks hope this helps😊

    PSA has definitely stepped up their game. They are the most innovative firearms company in the country at this time.

    • @armorers_wrench
      @armorers_wrench 2 месяца назад

      Are you out of your mind!? In what way has PSA ever innovated on anything? The fact of the matter is that PSA is a company that has fooled the entire community with their marketing claiming they are trying to arm as many people as possible. Well, what are they arming people with? Garbage that doesn't work right? Look at all the youtubers who were sent guns BY PSA for the sole purpose of reviewing the gun and yet the gun still doesn't work! That's important--cherry picked guns by the company sent to influencers don't even work. So, how do you think the gun sent to Billy Bob in Kentucky works? It doesn't. He'll end up sending it back at least once, probably twice.
      Even the "sabre" line of guns has been plagued with issues despite it being their "duty grade" line. You won't get issues like that with a BCM or a SOLGW Simple Jack.
      PSA is just a group of guys trying to get rich by cutting every corner possible. People let all their mistakes slide because they have some edgy political goal but the fact of the matter is every gun company other than HK is trying to arm as many people as possible---that's what their business is. Save your money for a gun that works.

    I bought several PSA mags when I picked up one of their 101’s recently. Both the mags & the 101 have run extremely well. I’m at about 600 rounds through it so far & everything looks good; parts are wearing in normally.
    As far as steel case goes: I don’t buy steel 5.56, only x39. In my experience most of it is trash, especially now. So even if it were available all my 5.56 guns would get brass anyway. I’ve had perfectly gassed, soft shooting AR’s rip the rims off steel case. Not to mention if you shoot suppressed how much dirtier it is.
    I say leave the steel case to the x39 & 5.45 guns, feed the 5.56 guns ammo made of the material it was intended to be made from.

      I'd purchased a 5.56 Zas M85-NP back in 2016 too. Nice thing its got the magwell adapter to run any AR15 magazine. Still rock solid with some rather heavy usage since 2016...
      -Worked well right outta tha box, but Ive since polished everything of any significance that makes the gun run. The bolt cam area on the carrier itself looked like the machinist was runnin a dull end mill from 1950 to do so. Pretty chowdery looking, seeing every pass made w/a bunch cutting lines left in the metal. Smooth as butter now w/some attention given to it...
      -Added a 'U.S MachineGun Co' folding brace adapter w/GearHeadWorks tailhook....
      -Enough meat/metal on the rear sight plate & folding dust cover area to drill, tap, then epoxy a small pic-rail section to that area for red dot addition. No issues with that since 2016 either...
      -Recently added/fabricated a pretty slick left hand side, firing hand thumb activated safety Im super happy with, as thats the one issue I have with AK platforms, its janky-azz safety...
      Glad you'd mentioned the Zas M85

    For as much as mic muffling might not have been intended, it created a pretty cool effect.

    Now i agree with "if it wont run steel, it doesnt deserve the brass", i say that about calibers that were made in primarily steel case(7.62/5.45). Most 223/5.56 is gonna be brass case. Every round of steel case 223 i ever bought was subsequently magdumped into trash through an ar. Never stocked up on steel because the accuracy was always horrible(the exception being barnaul ammo in a ks47)

    GREAT ALTERNATE KRINK...comes with 1.5mm receiver, Bulged front trunnion AND Chrome Lined Barrel...the Yugo M85 / ZPAP85 5.56.. Recommend you do a comparison.
    These can be had for cheap compared to Russian, are VERY well made and overbuilt and are essenitally almost the same price range as the PSAs. #Zastava quality is much higher than American ones for sure

    When I bought my WBP there were reports of stuck cases and eventually mine had two. I changed out to a KNS Because it was way to over gassed and haven’t had an issue 500 rounds later. I’m guessing the PSA will have the same issue, plus polishing the chamber would help but I didn’t have to do that on mine

    So if you watch Admin's video, at 20:52 you can see the bolt bounce, and the hammer then release by the trigger pushing the bolt back into battery and firing. I wonder if this is contributing to the failure to run steel case. I'd recommend running the video at 1/4 speed, it makes it easier to see.

    So many brand new guns ive had will arrive from the factory with some kind of debris or something stuck in the chamber causing several times where you have stuck shells or something weird happen so ive just had to to start spinning a wire brush in the chamber of any gun i purchase to guarantee smooth release

    I don’t own a psa ak but I’ve been doing a lot of research on them and it seems after gen1 556 and had extractor timing issues(snaking boltface) they fixed it but forgot to polish the feed ramps and and chamber. From what I’ve seen people have taken this to a gun smith or in one rare case psa polished it them self and sent it back. That seems to be the answer

    Honestly PSA has always made it right with newer releases of guns and issues... Had an issue with the first gen AKV and within a week i had a new one and 10k rounds later and no issues since.
    5.56/7.62 is so expensive nowadays... 40cents a round is crazy.

    16:38 Maybe the extractor skips over the rim on those hotter rounds because 1: maybe the extractor spring is weak and 2: Maybe the added back pressure pushes the bolt back so fast it skips over the rim. could also be magazine related like you said.

    Hit that chamber with an ultra high grit silicone polishing bit. Not to the point of putting a match finish in the chamber (that would decrease lubricity): just enough to flatten high spots and make those fresh flats extremely slick (which will increase lubricity). That should _relieve_ surface tension enough to allow it to run steel without being wet. Note I said silicone - specifically soft silicone, you just want to gently buff the surface of the metal - not change the chamber geometry.

    After werewolf had all the problems with the Steelcase ammo he took a bore brush on a drill and Polished the chamber and didn't have another problem. I guess that's why they say clean your guns before they shoot them. Perhaps their tolerance is just too tight polishing it helps out obviously

    My guess with the problems of ripped casing is due too much bolt speed from the bolt, I guarantee you put the adjustiible piston it'll run fine, or take the booster off

    Consider polishing the chamber a bit. Brass and steel/zinc cases have dissimilar expansion/contraction rates, that can cause issues as well as lubricity differences.

  • @masta51

    Get a good polisher and run it through. I don't know if it was the camera shadowing or the angle but it looks like a machining mark right around the feed ramp.
