pioneer arms still have minor issues but they are on the right track and im happy as hell
I’m 53, have carried and owned loads of AKs, I’ve never had the thought of “I’m shooting the same cost of with this amount of ammo as I paid for the gun!”😂

The only reason this particular AK exists is because most of Pioneer's previous examples were dogshit. Good on them for fixing it but they should have forged their parts from the start.
Most of the people that trash talk it are basing it on comments they heard on the interwebs about old pioneer guns that had cast front trunnion. Of course, your logic, that was polish quality" too. Pioneer has been doing forged trunnions for several years now. People still trash talk the AR based on stuff that happened 60 years ago in vietnam and has been fixed for 55 years. 2000 rounds is not impressive in general but for a gun that doesn't get shot much ... maybe ...
Did you not watch the video? It failed before 500rds. They had to replace parts to make it work again. Hence it failed

Ive never seen a rifle struggle to accept mags so much before. Makes me appreciate the rifles I own now.
Its operator error, couple swipes of a file and the Sofia Bulgarians are the best fitting and operate perfect. Kind of hilarious watching him try to force the ones in 🤦🏾♂️

I’m glad this rifle faired well, we need more solid budget options. Firing pin breakage is kinda concerning tho.
Beryl pin failed faster than the factory pin. Easier option is to replace the bolt itself which is a cheap option.
Yes I bought a wbp bolt carrier and bolt. I also bought a few spare wbp spring loaded firing pins. Someone posted a video saying it all will fit. @@masta51

I'd like to see a video discussing what mags worked and those that didn't do so well and why.
Seems like polish mags ran, Bulgarian mags had a hard time fitting, and converted 5.45 mags had issues feeding

Nice to see a budget option make it so far. Firing pin is a non-issue for me. Had to replace my WASR’s after about 2000~ rounds. (Over the course of a year or so.) Although I didn’t have the retaining pin issue. Would’ve been curious to see some go/no go gauges throughout the test. Good vid overall. Always enjoy seeing Tony and Cody in the vids. 🤙
Shit...... i wouldn't mind having one. That was a hell of a test and it passed with flying colors! I mean if it lasts long enough to make the shooter tired of shooting it, i think it done its job

I have one in 5.56 with over 2k rounds and i can confirm the beryl firing pin will break before the factory firing pin. Had to polish the gun in a few places to get it smoother and more reliable, even took a bit of material off the throat of the barrel in order to feed properly. Every other mag it has a feeding issue, stovepipe and such. The extractor was trash on mine so i changed it to a beryl extractor and that helped tremendously. I truly think these guns arent the best when it comes to quality control, you might get a good one, you might get a bad one. Fun range toy for cheap. But i wouldnt fully trust my life to it.
Guess what you guys survived! Pioneer putting in the work. I call this a win. People still hating it because they deny the truth. This was constant full auto fire. Any ak would have something break doing that.

I have built out 2 AK kits using Pioneer receivers and they work just fine.
Might help to slow down no need to feel rushed because thats when you make mistakes.
The gun held up better than most. I have broken firing pins at shoots so thats a common thing. I have never broken a Russian or Chinese firing pin tho'.
Would a Russian or Chinese firing pin fit in another country's gun? Would one of their bolts fit in another country's bolt carrier/gun?
What firing pins did you use as replacements for the pioneer aks? And do you know where to buy them?

And this is sustained full auto fire until failure, which is an absurd level of operation. What would it do under a more standard schedule of fire? Or you could even look up and recreate some historic long gun battle and see what it could do in a “fire fight”.

I’m late to the party but knew you were doing this. I was hoping this would run for awhile. It’s amazing what you can get for your money nowadays in terms of cheap rifles. Just wish the cost of ammo would come down 😢
I picked up a Pioneer Arms under folder in 7.62 new, a 22 model year number about a year ago. It’s been fun. It’s surprisingly accurate. I think I paid a total of $600 for it. I grabbed it while I was waiting on my Zastava m70 to come in. I have about 1200 rounds through it. Just random range trips, no crazy stuff like this. It been a nice shooter and the head space hasn’t moved at all according to my go-no go gauges. I may grab some extra firing pins though lol. I change the black polymer Handguards out for some new blond wood polish furniture and it looks great. It seems so far that the build quality is decent. I think they are pretty solid especially at the price point.

The pin holding my underfolder screw also fell out on mine, and it's got way less rounds through it. The gun runs fine, I just imagine if you buy one of these guns, expect small issues to pop up. Be prepared to do some DUI fixes. I just got a nail and pushed it through, and bent the end to replace the pin.

@@Gregory-qu1ct I’m finally thinking about buying one. I bought 3 M70’s recently. Did a short video on RUclips recently on the Zastava ZPAP M70 in cerakote battleworn finish. I have owned Mitchell Arms M77’s since the 1990’s in the standard version and M77 finned heavy barrel versions and have loved them with now dead tritium flip up night sights. Awesome guns.

I had to take and remove a little material from the top left mag lip to give enough clearance for the ejector on my brown bulgy mag from gun mag warehouse but works great now

Sent this series of videos to an acquaintance who has had bad experience with Pioneer. He's still not a believer but it's proof that QC is a thing and sometimes the AK gods smile upon us when we least expect it.

Also the difference in volume is calculated as 2*pi*(difference in radius)*length of barrel = 2*3.14*(0.050+0.11)*16 - 2*3.14*0.11*16 = 4.019 cubic inches.
Guns not made for full auto, in real battle your not dumping that many at once

Hell I got banned twice for “misinformation”. Once for arguing my experience with my cast hellpup.
2nd account for posting pics and headspace proof. I made it to 2k rounds of proof before they banned me the 2nd time. I also broke a pin at 3k and replaced it with a beryl pin. Stopped counting at 6k rounds on the 556 folder. I have all price ranges and makes. Love being surprised by a “cheap” gun more than meh with a “expensive” gun…

I want to see the base of the firing pin where the hammer makes contact with the firing pin.
It looked fine.
The barrel is button cut and maybe nitride, in the past they used CHF CL but sold the tooling maybe us made barrels no idea, in the past everything was cast apart from the bolt and they used the barrel as a bucking bar but maybe they fixed that and cast front frunions are OK. But I think the barrel is a little thicker as it's an AKM style not a 74/100.
I feel the best 5.56 ak on the market is the zastava as 18" even thicker yugi barrel CHF CL, would be nice if FB radom made 5.56 and 300blk barrels, also cuhir but they are not even chrome lining their 5.56 and I think it's the same with WBP
I love the 74 but without 7N6 the ammo is bad, I prefer 7.62x39 but I can see that getting very expensive.
I have a nice long barreled 5.56 vepr I converted but If I had to buy an AK today it would be a zastava
