    Whenever AAC ever gets around to making 5.45 like they've been claiming, I've got to imagine that will bring down the price on this Tela stuff, even if the AAC is more expensive. Hell, just having a stateside manufacturer of 5.45 bulk ammo will be amazing by itself.

    • @blue_ridge_shooting7668
      @blue_ridge_shooting7668 3 месяца назад +12

      Hopefully it does bring the price of 5.45 down but I strongly suspect that the AAC ammo will have issues when it's first released.
      There is absolutely no institutional knowledge of how to manufacture that cartridge in the United States. AAC is in uncharted waters.

Otherwise if you take a 22lr case and slide that into the primer hole, cut it flush, and then size it for large rifle, you can use boxer large rifle primers. Back in 90s, there was a lot of issues with non-corrosive 7.62X54R. We discovered the rust in the barrel, gas system & receiver was actually from steel dust in the case and pieces of the bimetal jacket getting sheared off. Even though there were rust spots, the ammo actually wasn't corrosive when doing the bare steel test.
    In other cases, the 7.62X54R was actually corrosive. Perhaps repackaged surplus. There just wasn't dots of rust, but everything covered in rust. They also failed the bare steel test.

    Klay! I long ago figured out the absolute *best* way to clean corrosive out of a 74. Pressure washer! Hooked up with cold hose water. Inside and out. Just do it on a towel in the driveway and not the yard, as that’s a good way to get mud in your gun and destroy your grass. Then dry it out with an air compressor with a high pressure blower tip. It’ll make it look brand new

    My local FFL has had one of those Molot 74RPKs for 5+ years now. Hasn't been able to move it. I'm assuming because of ammo and they're asking around 5k for it.

    I got the 1,000 round bulk 7.62x39 from Tela about a month ago and im wondering if when you mentioned about it being corrosive has anything to do with there being little pieces of idk what on the paper plate when i pour the ammo on there straight out of the paper. If so would someone please let me know if i need to rinse the ammo before loading my mags. Also the ammo has been doing surprisingly good at 50-100 yards. I have a Zastava M70 ZPAP and it's my first time using steel cased ammunition in any rifle.

    I remember seeing AK quality enforcement posting something from Buffman on whether or not this stuff was actually non corrosive. I think there was some 7.62x39 Tela that was corrosive . Also seeing some other people claim the same thing...... can you do a video update on if youre seeing any corrosion? EDIT. NVM i literally just saw your pinned comment

    More than a year ago I saw pics of boxes for AAC 5.45x39 at their booth at Shot Show 2023. What happened? I'm one of those dudes that isn't shooting and 5.45 now, and I have a few thousand rounds of Golden Tiger. I've considered grabbing 500 rounds of this though. If I win the lottery this week, I may just buy it all.

      AAC said at Shot Show they're still doing load development on the 5.45. I got the impression it should be available sometime this year

    I still got a few thousand rounds of Ukrainian 5.45 that came in during covid and a can of 7n6. Hard to bring myself to shoot it like you said. Also, for me, if it's gonna be corrosive it better have some steel core.

    My local gun shop is selling Wolf 5.45 for $10 a box of twenty. Said they have near 15k rounds total 🤷🏼‍♂️ I’d capitalize on it personally if I didn’t have to go out and buy a gun just to shoot it. Not willing to get into a dying caliber 😕

    Question about your Molot RPK.
    How does the bipod go on/off the barrel? Does the front sight block have to come off to remove the bipod?
    I have a Molot Vepr in 54R, side folding skeleton stock, and a 21" barrel. Wanting to get a factory bipod for it but before spending the $ need to know how it goes on.
    Thanks and thanks for the Tela ammo review.

    Rather not pay .70 a round for ammo that will rust my expensive 5.45 rifles if I don’t clean them immediately after a range day. It’s too bad, one company getting this stuff and they can’t or won’t ensure the ammo is actually correctly mark.

    What do you mean by “key holing” and “trigger slap”?

    • @KLAYCO47
      @KLAYCO47  3 месяца назад +3

      It means the round starts to turn sideways (destabilize) in flight and strikes the target sideways. Creating what looks like a "keyhole", instead of a perfectly round hole. Trigger slap means when the trigger resets. It resets very hard and slaps your finger.
