    As someone who got into 5.45 back in the Sandy Hook aftermath because it was the only caliber that could be expected to be on the shelf when all the other cool calibers were stripped bare. I feel your pain. I have managed to stockpile a fair amount of it one or two of those Monarch 30 round boxes then the 20 round boxes at a time. I also have a fair amount of Hornady Black which is my Social and long range match round. I have seen it go,as high as $60/ box. Now this is due to Hornady 5.45 being batched processed. And once the batch sells out of the big distributors is when you start seeing the price increase for a couple of years until they do a new batch. I was also using the 5.45 to compete in AK 2-gun matches in order to collect data about my rifle and my gear. I have done testing on the Tela and can confirm that the 5.45 is corrosive. But as long as you are cleaning your rifle correctly that is not an issue. The testing I did on a non zeroed rifle ( Optic was zeroed for Hornady, Irons for Barnaul) is promising. My next step is to order more and zero my rifle with it and see what kind of groups I get with it. I seem to be one of the few 5.45 shooters who,recognized several years ago,that 5.45 could easily turn into the new .30-40 Government or 7.65 Luger which it now has. I am currently using a Zastava M-90 for my 2-Gun competitions and it has gone through several multiple hundred round matches that have been called the hardest of their kind. I would like to get back to using the 5.45 which is why I am testing the Tela.

    Going price in 2001 for Wolf 7.62x39 was $80 / 1000, so that'll be $1.60 per 20 rd box. I'm shocked at todays prices. 😲 The wife used to give me grief when I'd buy 1/2 a case here and there; and the occasional case took some begging and reasoning that I wasn't wasting money on ammo.

    Hey Johnny, since you are getting brass cased boxer primed ammo, you might want to think about getting into reloading - or at least become good friends with someone who does. A buddy of mine and I got into 300 blackout years ago when ammo was scarce due to the lack of manufacturers making the stuff. Anyway, as a post SHTF skill to have is the ability to reload ammo. So in short, start protecting that spent brass, save it up and learn reloading.

    Import bans and beyond the pale prices are nothing short of gun control by default.
    Sad times also better understood as evil times for sure... I got in late... when Obama was selected I bought my first rifle...a mini30 and remember cases at the gun show for $280... I remember individual boxes going from the lowest I ever seen from $4 to the high side at $6 at gun shows...
    ... Prices today are beyond the pale (again that's intentional)... I remember buying some fancy Barnal boxes that were labeled Hunting Ammo and had a cowboy on the front wearing his cowboy hat... Basically a western motif, pretty neat.... I still have one if I remember right...
    ... I wish PSA would drop the whole endless promises of MuH cLoNeS thing and concentrate on giving us what we want and more importantly what we need... 28 cent around 7.62x39 and maybe free shipping to boot... 🤷‍♂️
    Thanks for sharing n' God bless brother

    • @winkleried
      @winkleried 9 месяцев назад +3

      Due to several factors you are not going to see that price point from PSA/AAC. The big one is Domestic production overhead. The other big one is PSA is trying to reinvent the wheel by producing a type of ammunition that hasn’t been domestically manufactured in generations and there is no institutional engineering experience left. Also one of thier reps mentioned at SHOT that they are still doing R&D on the loads and they also used the term “economics” as a deciding factor on starting production.

    • @Soli_Deo_Gloria_.
      @Soli_Deo_Gloria_. 9 месяцев назад +3

      I appreciate your insight... and from the sounds of it then PSA will not be manufacturing AK'S as robustly much in the near future in my best estimation, because cases are only going to continue to rise in cost and people just can't afford it... Unless they are of the civil stature that are inclined to fox hunts...I mean 450 if your lucky 500 is standard and I'm starting to see 550+ now... soon 60 - 70 - 80 cents a round for 7.62x39 is where it's going... At those prices one might as well step into 308...
      Thanks again, have a good day n' God bless

      @@Soli_Deo_Gloria_. I have mentioned since around the time of the Sandy Hook aftermath that the Era of cheap AK rifles and ammunition was coming to an end and they would become the niche boutique rifles. PSA is still going to crank them out and folks will purchase them as safe queen and speculation investment rifles. Same goes for thier ammunition. We are slowly headed back to the days before the Chinese imports where 7.62x39 was $60/box and imported in small lots from Finland.
