You can easily get those couches for your house today. They make all kinds of fabulous couches like that for night clubs and strip clubs and stuff. You can try contacting different clubs and asking who supplies their couches and lounge chairs. And get the hookup. My cousin Rachel was a really successful stripper. She was hand picked by kid rock to be a cage girl for one of his tours. She knew all the owners of all the clubs in our home City as well as many in other major cities from Miami to Vegas. She always has a bad ass house or apartment and fabulous furniture including couches like these made for a club. Hers comes in pieces so she uses half the original in her apartment to save space But you can't tell it's only part of a larger piece and it looks kick ass in a half moon shape. It's in a deep emerald green with a dramatic high back. Then her coffee table is retro from the 1970s and is mirrored like ike and Tina's walls and ceilings that sort of distressed foggy mirror effect and it's got crystal edges and several rows of shelves from top to bottom. It comes in 5 pieces and makes a zig zag Chevron shape. She uses 3 and makes a single Chevron for the coffee table which then fits perfectly inside the half moon shape of the couch and the other 2 are used on opposite ends of the couch as end tables. But anyways I'm rambling now. But if you like these couches you can get them through clubs. Sometimes you can get good deals on pre used ones from a club that's in like new condition and get them cheaper than if you paid the supplier. Just a little fyi. A lot of club owners are more than happy to make a profit on stuff if they're replacing it with new stuff.

When I was in my late teens, we use to hang out with their sons occasionally in this home. This is when Ike was incarcerated. My friend went to college with one of them and they were good friends. When he told her that he was their son, she didn't believe him so he proved it by inviting us to his home. There were pictures of Ike and Tina in the living room. That bar area was set up like a mini recording room just like it was in the movie. Little did we know how significant this home was. I wish we had taken some pictures!!!

That “felty” velvet burnout wallpaper was *very* popular in the 60s and 70s. Lots of people had it. Sometimes the paper background was a metallic gold or silver, as reflective wallpaper was very chic at the time. The velvet, however, was usually in some shade of red.

They definitely ruined it. Yes, they made it pretty, but when they gutted the interior, they took out important elements of the mid-century architecture and decor. That central bar with the aquarium and the rock waterfall were hallmarks of that era. The most shocking thing was how they took out so much of that beautiful stonework, both inside and outside. They wanted to look at masonry and a concrete curb instead. Another heartbreaker, was that they destroyed the beautiful marble fireplace. I think they covered it with masonry instead, can't remember, it just looked very bland. Essentially, they took out all the glamour that was lent to the place with the swank bar, waterfall, stone work and mirrored ceiling and made it just another typical LA home. I know the home was in bad shape in some areas, but if they could have just fixed the damage and left the rest alone, there are people who would have paid more for it the way it was. I hope there's a special place in Hell for people who go in and destroy these beautiful mid century homes. It would cost a small fortune to try and put it back the way it was. As for the kitchen, they ripped out the wall refrigerators, too, one of the most unique features of the era. New ones cost around $4,000. People that love old appliances spend years trying to track those kind of things down, and pay big money for them. The old red flocked velvet wallpaper is coming back in style nowadays. It's really a shame someone who would have appreciated all those old things didn't get to buy it.

@1:44 I can't help but think of that false rape scene from the movie. It never happened, but it was so graphic in its detail....

I heard that it never happened, too. It is a sad example of what film producers will do to sell a movie. Even though that sort of thing has happened before, I'm still appalled at how they will literally rewrite history to add sex or drama, even when it involves someone's reputation. That kind of stuff is what gives Hollywood a bad name.

Robert Braun every violent scene in the movie is what really happened , even the rape scene, all of it is what ike actually did to her in real life .

Virginia Neil That's not true. Have you read her book? That rape scene was completely made up. Tina didn't even record Nutbush at home it was recorded at Ike's Bolic Sound studio in Inglewood. The movie is only loosely based on Tina's loosely based on Tina's book. Tina had no control over the script so the writers had creative freedom to fabricate scenes. Tina has never watched the movie because she didn't like the script, and she said she wished it had more truth.

With respect that house should be torn down. All memories aren't good memories. This the 3rd video I've seen of this house. The 1st one was a tour and the contractors where allowing people to take things like tiles, lps, ike and Tina Turner review letter heads, voided checks and stuff. It gives me very bad vibes.

In vain, I tried to get past the tabloid comments about Ike and Tina on these threads to the more relevant question as to the economic benefits for residents of View Park. Could it be that all taxes gathered from residents come back to them in spades? Does Beverly Hills, for example, maintain that well manicured look without its bountiful tax base from residents? Anyone? I would think wealthy black Americans would have that in mind when buying outside the community. Ever notice how wealthy Asian communities maintain that "healthy" look? Could it be that Asian tax dollars float about their community at least 10 times before leaving it?
