Lately I find myself fascinated by this enigmatic, enchanting person. What a commanding presence! She had that certain je ne sais quoi. I can't imagine how anyone could challenge her in even the most minimal fashion. Thank you for posting. Can't believe I'm just now seeing this amazing glimpse into her personal life.
She lived on Roxbury Drive in Beverly Hills, the same street that Lucille Ball, Jack Benny, and other stars lived on. I'm fascinated by the movie star homes from the Golden Age of Hollywood.
This was just her Tuscan style home in BH...she also had a farm in Ohio and did actual farming. She was such a versatile actress and person with so many interests. Loved Endora-she was an icon of self-expression. Agnes was a gem💐💗
If I was the new owner, I would NEVER have changed anything in the house, as Agnes and I seem to have a lot of the same tastes. And also out of respect for her memory!! 💜
I've been a fan of hers since I saw her in a Humphrey Bogart movie when I was a teenager. Dark Passage. If you get a chance, watch it. This was a treat to see her home. She had CLASS which is sorely lacking nowadays.
There was something just so fascinating about Agnes Moorehead. I enjoy watching her in anything, even that highly unglamorous Twilight Zone episode wherein she doesn’t speak at all.
Her home is beautiful and tasteful. The library shows that she was very intelligent. A classy lady. And a great actress. I liked her in Citizen Kane, The Magnificent Ambersons, Bewitched, and in Hush, Hush, Sweet Charlotte.
Saw her reading a couple of books in pictures of her, so I read them myself.. they were great!! Agnes had great taste in books, homes, decor, clothing!! Just 💜 her dearly and miss her dearly too!!!!! (for you Agnes, 💜⚘️)
The house in the 60s was probably worth 200,000 dollars Elizabeth Montgomery paid abiout 200 grand for hers and lived there until she died...the smart actresses paid cash and didn't move around blowing their money on property taxes etc like they do now.
her Father was a Presbyterian minister and thought his daughters needed a education, She said, He had no problem with her becoming a Actress, he just wanted her to get her degree first
Nice to remember the character on TV, but she was a very fine actress/artist. Her wonderful film roles and performances, never mind all her stage work. A truce artist for sure.
Will firstly state I am a huge fan of her work. This is a nicely put together tribute. Only thing that detracts from pure enjoyment is the fact most of the photos are "staged" shots. Would love to see a compilation of all the candid shots. MHO. Nicely done though. Thank you for sharing.
What an incredible house. Beautiful! I'd get lost in a house that size though! lol I didn't see her in a lot but loved her in Disney's Pollyanna, she was perfect in that and I remember her in a famous episode of the Twilight Zone and of course, "Bewitched"! A great actress from the Golden Age of Hollywood! Bet her spirit still haunts that house! Thanks for sharing~
I kind of doubt it, she was a Presbyterian ministers daughter and devout Christian, her spirit crossed into heaven, when she was done with it, the house was likely a very restful place
I'm surprised that no one has mentioned the house was previously owned by Sigmund Romberg. The gracious & charming Ms. Moorehead discussed it in a Dick Cavett interview once.
Roxbury Drive was home to many famous stars. In the first few blocks lived Agnes Moorehead, Polly Bergen, Rosemary Clooney, Peter Falk, Jack Benny, Lucille Ball, and Jimmy Stewart. Several of those homes have been torn down, glad her house was spared!
Lucky her house is still standing........as many of the homes have been torn down to build "McMansions". Her home does not appear to have met the same destruction as the others nearby. Roxbury Drive is hardly recognizable from these "Glory days". The City Council just voted to tear down Bob Hope's home (2018). Clifton Webb's home was also torn down (to make way for a "McMansion") for all this new Hollywood trash. Jimmy Stewart's home nearby has been torn down to make way for a new one and this list goes on and on with no respect for the history of the past as it pertains to the beautiful homes build by the Hollywood stars during this period. Great artisan's in many cases from Europe provided the expert workmanship and detail with the best of materials when these homes were built. Now many homes are either completely torn down or renovated from any recognition of the home's original look. Ginger Rogers home is now being renovated and hopefully respect will be taken to maintain the home as it looked originally without the Home Depot touches. The greatest losses were the homes Mary Pickford's "Pickfair" and "Falcon Lair" the home of Rudolph Valentino. Both homes were torn down. Most of the homes still standing have been so altered as to be unrecognizable. Wooden windows replaced with aluminum double paned glass from the local Home Depot and so forth!
@@alanweinstein8625 Many of the older historic residential areas in the Los Angeles area have had lovely older homes of moderate and adequate size torn down so that huge new homes can be built on the site of either one of these homes or in many cases on several lots that once had several smaller but adequate homes that reflected the time period primarily from the 1920's through the 1950's. Even in Beverly Hills many of the homes of famous older stars from the Golden Era of Hollywood have been torn down so new "McMansions" can be built. The home of Jimmy Stewart and many other famous stars (which were very lovely themselves) have been torn down for these huge modern monstrosities to be built. Same with the the lovely homes of Rudolph Valentino and even Douglas Fairbanks, Sr. and Mary Pickford. Their home was once called the "White House" of the West Coast, yet the original house was torn down, the lot subdivided and a "McMansion" or "MacMansions" built on the site. Even the home of Bob Hope in the Toluca Lake area of Los Angeles is now being considered for a "tear-down" so the property can be used for a shopping center and large condos to be built on the site of his historic property with lovely grounds and a beautiful well kept home. Many other famous homes of historic value have already been torn down for these "McMansions" to be built. The Los Angeles Conservancy has tried to same many of them, and have been successful in many cases, but in others not so successful as in the case of the fames "Ambassador Hotel", home of the Cocoanut Grove and once one of the most famous Hotels in the World. It was also the site of many of the first ceremonies of the Academy Award. Now the most expensive school in the United States has been built on the site, which is primarily used for the children of Illegal immigrants. Los Angeles has many schools already and this new expensive one wasn't even needed, as these children could have attended other existing schools. The City Council of Los Angeles shows very little interest maintaining the architecture of the City from past years as so many historic buildings (many built by noted architects of the past) have been needlessly torn down, even including the famous "Brown Derby" Restaurant which was across the street from the Ambassador Hotel. Many lovely well built older homes (many of the Arts and Crafts style) have been destroyed for these huge overly designed modern new homes, nicknamed "McManions". In the process, many of the residential areas have lost the older charm once so common in the Los Angeles area whereby these modern monstrosities can be built.
Los Angeles is notorious about it. Many of the great homes of Los Angeles have been torn down. It is hard to believe that the Rudolph Valentino Estate (Falcon Lair) and the Douglas Fairbanks, Sr./Mary Pickford (Pickfair) homes were torn down. Even the John Paul Getty home that was used in the movie "Sunset Boulevard" with Gloria Swanson was torn down some time back. Sadly, I think it is now just a parking lot for an ugly Office building in an otherwise still well maintained neighborhood. You would have thought they would have at least saved that house as the area is still primarily residential and because of its' association with the Getty family, and later used in "Sunset Boulevard", one of the greatest films to come out of the Golden Age of Hollywood. If the homes had no value, or were just beyond help, I could understand it, but that is not the case with most if not all of the one's that have been destroyed thus far. The City as a whole doesn't seem to care or appreciate their value.@@alanweinstein8625

This Woman had class and was well versed in the English language, I believe her parents were English born. Wonder who she left the home to, no children.
She left her home and her belongings in it to her lawyer. Read the book "I Love The Illusion : The Life and Career of Agnes Moorehead by Charles Tranberg. Excellent book, in the top 10 in 2006. 💜
She must've done alright for herself financially if she was able to live like that. She had very good taste except for the animal skin rugs. Those are illegal and you'd get cancelled if caught with those nowadays.
I wound up with my late Aunts ermine coat, from about 1949, still quite nice, I had no idea what to do with it so I use it for a winter cover up on my sofa, my 2 dachshunds loved it LOL
Lots of masonic stuff here. She's a Scandinavian royal witch. Think that role was accidental? idts. Dgmw, love her acting, but jussayin' this woman had real (royal) power.

Ghost do often visit places they felt comfortable in when they were alive.. so maybe.
She looked alone in that huge place.
What, was she doing a photo inventory for her insurance company?
Her mother died at the age of 106 in 1990
Her mother was only 16 when Agnes was born.
Why is every picture slightly out of focus?
Wish the photos were in color.
This was neat, but I was hoping to see her home after 'hollywood'. He farm which she loved.
Where is it?
the now photos mean nothing to us. You have to compare the then and now photos side by side.
She was a great actress and comedian, but not crazy about her home interior design.
it was a design from many years ago, very nice in its day
She must've done alright for herself financially if she was able to live like that. She had very good taste except for the animal skin rugs. Those are illegal and you'd get cancelled if caught with those nowadays.
Ilikeendora
Great actress. I wonder if she shot that tiger.
Yeh very good
Great actress. Her 60s wigs look like:wigs, alas.
Back when it was OK to decorate with animal skins. A lot of square footage.
I wound up with my late Aunts ermine coat, from about 1949, still quite nice, I had no idea what to do with it so I use it for a winter cover up on my sofa, my 2 dachshunds loved it LOL
@@califdad4 that's greatness 😄
@@happykat8552 thanks, my wiener dogs thought so too!
@@califdad4 you made me laugh
Sorry...that music could drive a crazy person insane ❗
It's Mozart. Classy music. Maybe you prefer Rap or Katy Perry. Now that's junk.
@@SymphonyBrahms lol......actually I'd prefer country from the 70's......
Pretty much ruined now the latest owners tried to make it contemporary now it’s 2020 and looks really bad
That’s nice but pictures are out of focus.
This music Horrendous to listen too 😬 Geez I wanted to see the video but not anymore, I feel an headache coming on...... 😄😄
"Frank, I'm getting one of my sick headaches." Take some Asprin. LOL.
Lots of masonic stuff here. She's a Scandinavian royal witch. Think that role was accidental? idts. Dgmw, love her acting, but jussayin' this woman had real (royal) power.
Yup
I grew up with this stuff.. no witchy, witchy, just a look. & yes we belong to the Masonic lodge. 🤠🖖
she was a ministers daughter and devout Christian, she was nothing of the kind you describe
Are Anglo-Irish people now called Scandinavian?
Get counselling. You need it.
Such inappropriate music - for a video about Agnes Moorehead, of all people!
It's Mozart. A classy lady like her liked classical music. The photos show her with a harp that she probably played.
I liked Her until I saw the Tiger Rug and the way She posed on it.
Yeah babe...ok
A man.
Her pride in her dead endangered species rugs just kills any interest that I had in her.
I love Agnes moorehead but haveing ANIMAL furs no way .
Would all you leftist, left coast snowflakes just grow up! Humans have been killing, eating and using animal hides since we left the trees. Be sure you don't wear any leather shoes or use a leather bag.
it was a different time, and a well known designer did this some of this for her. Furs were still selling like hot cakes in the 1980's
If you've eaten a burger or fried chicken, or if you've ever worn leather shoes in your lifetime, you're a hypocrite.
That was a different time. I don't hold it against her.
@@chorton38305 Why bring politics into this discussion? You're a nut.
