Enjoyed the vlog Jos. Afternoon tea is always interesting to see in other parts of the world.

As you can tell I love an afternoon tea/high tea and enjoy seeing how different countries do them. So many more places I’ve booked so hopefully you’ll enjoy some other countries.

Looks like a lovely high tea! I haven’t been to Bistro since I was a child (think it might have been called something else then….) and I’ve had very few high teas in NZ…. Not for lack of availability! I think the best high tea I’ve ever had, was Tiffin at the Raffles in Singapore!
Another lovely video - you popped into my head randomly the other while I was having a wander around Farro, as they had Truffle flavoured crisps out as a sample haha. As a general non Truffle liner, they were actually very good - quite a subtle flavour in comparison to lots of the meals I’ve had where the truffle flavour has been too strong.

The staff were lovely but I did pick a sunny weekend to go, so it was really busy. It was lovely to be in the park setting compared to right in the city centre. A few friends of mine love the Mandarin Oriental Afternoon tea in Singapore. I love Singapore and have been to Raffles a few times over the years. I found it useful when I was at Sabato and could try some of the items to taste like the crisps. The fried egg flavour was particularly strange. I do love truffle and quite like the strong taste and aroma but I agree it's quite intense and can overpower dishes if not done well. Unfortunately I missed truffle season in NZ this year 🤦‍♀️

Did the high tea concept start with the desire to miss dinner? The hot and cold mixture seems alien to me but if dinner is not happening it sort of makes sense. Thank you for the video which I liked. The park looked pretty big. Love from Bournemouth UK.

I think the desire for afternoon tea came about when people in high society looked to have a social snack between lunch and dinner. I’ve always loved the concept of afternoon tea or high tea since I was young. I love sharing the experience with others and a it’s a nice opportunity to get together with friends and family.

@@josatkin you're right about the origins of afternoon tea. It was a bridge as you say. The high tea incorporates hot items which afternoon tea doesn't. High tea probs for people skipping evening dinner. Sensible. I enjoy your videos. Love from Bournemouth UK.
