I’ve been to Costco in Portland Oregon. It is set up the same as this. Just a big warehouse with products on pallets like in a warehouse logistics centre. It is ideal for people who live out of town and only come in once a month to stock up on groceries and provisions. They can fill up their pickup/ute and haul it off home. In New Zealand 🇳🇿 we’ve had bulk buy places like Uncle Bills, Cracker Jack and Reduced to clear, even the Warehouse (to a degree) for a while now, but nothing really like Costco. Moore Wilson’s in Wellington was close I think, just not as large in the variety.

This was divine, Jos! I remember watching one of your afternoon teas last year and being so impressed with your filming. Thank you for the close-ups; it really makes a difference. One of my favourites is the duck confit sandwich at Le Marche du Quartier. Give it a go next time you're at Borough. Delish!

I took my Mum here last week for her birthday and we had an amazing afternoon. The staff were really welcoming and couldn’t do enough for us. It sounds as though you caught them on an off day. There were numerous staff in the restaurant during our visit and we were also offered a refill of sandwiches. I’m sorry your experience wasn’t great x

Hello Jos! The place looks beautiful and I liked very much the decor of the rooms (except the wallpaper in the "Blenheim" suite, sorry! 😁) The afternoon tea did not impress me at all. It seemed a bit plain to me, the sandwiches were nothing special and there were no proper, rich cakes. I am glad you are having a nice time in New Zealand. Cheers! 😍😍

Gosh, I would never be able to make a choice.

We were at Fortnum and Mason high tea last week as part of our London tour. The afternoon turned out horribly. My family and I turned up on the fixed appointment and were shown to our table. We were left alone after that. We waved to staff and they ignored us. After a long moment, we felt unwelcome and thought of leaving. My wife got up from her seat and walked straight to a staff and insisted that they served us like the other customers. Another white family came and sat next to us. They served them tea and sandwiches instantly! Why the different treatment? We are from S E Asia.

Hello Jos. like you, would have loved a white microwave, having looked for months none to be had so it had to be a silver black was not for me. Gosh they do seem to pile the items so high. The brownies did look quite good lol!

Wondering how the hotel is supporting 9 bars/ restaurants. It doesn't seem that big. Most hotels struggle to get their restaurants to break even. It's not even in a location where you would have a lot of evening/ night time foot traffic.

Are women just simps for pretty looking pastries and sandwiches? I can't think of a single straight male who'd joyfully pay £30 for afternoon tea never mind £90.

Hello from Bournemouth UK. Thank you for the video which was interesting as always. As a British afternoon tea lover I find high teas a little odd but a lovely change. The venue looked clean and the food looked great. Can I ask what the medical alert on your wrist is for? Reason being if it's something like diabetes that's fascinating for the viewers. Regards.

We are on holiday in London. Yesterday, we went to Fortnum and Mason Afternoon High Tea. Our conclusion...horrible service. We were ignored and we felt unwelcome. This is a terrible experuence.

Nice to see you again enjoying afternoon teas! I have to say that I did not find this Afternoon tea" very appealing. Where were the scones? What happened to classic, European-style cakes? OK, rant over! The Portuguese tart looked very nice, if I remember correctly is a baked custard tart. Tiramisú is always a winner! Wishing you a lovely time in NZ. Cheers! PS: I had the chance to watch a very nice video made by a young Japanese lady about the famous Parisian tea room "Angelina". Have you been there? Their afternoon tea looks very nice and it is only 40 euros.

Wow... Costco NZ has a wonderful shellfish selection. One cool thing about Costco is they will always have a few local items like vegemite and Manuka honey in your case. That's pretty much the layout of Costco. Years ago, Costco used to sell coffins! So in the store, you'd see those cutouts of coffins literally on your way out(of the store) - it really was one-stop shop. 😂😂😂 Thanks for taking us along.
