Great video. Just installed this on my A5. I had such a tough time removing the glove box. I had one extra screw behind the cd changer that no one else online seems to have. Apart from that it was pretty easy thanks to this video. The screen is fantastic, super fast and defo takes off 5yrs from the age of the car. Would recommend

I ordered mine as well I got the 8ram 12.3 screen and running on android 12 …I all ready had installed the 4ram android unit mounted like the factory one ..can’t wait to install the 12.3 screen..looks nice ..great job on the video 🤘🏽🫵🏽🤘🏽

Hello james, did you get the air bag switch to work? Ive installed it and now my airbag light stays on, on the dash. There is a airbag plug on the old trim but not on the new, what can be done here, thanks.
@@cihados having the same issues, but mine has a connector on the back of the frame, but I'm unsure why there's a y splitter for the hazard/airbag when there's only 1 input.
@@StuartLaw81 i figured it out. You have to take the plug out of the old trim and connect it to the new one and then hide it behind with all the other cables. Your airbag light on the dash would proberbly be on, so you have to clear it with carly or some other adapter.
@@cihados I've done that, tried it I did manager to clear the error (without using the adapter cable), but it flagged up an issue with the airbag still when using my obd scanner. So it's certainly not right yet. Thanks for the suggestion though.
@@cihados did you ever manage to connect anything other than a phone via Bluetooth? I can't connect my carista obd scanner to the cars Bluetooth as the settings look like they've been gutted and replaced with a sub standard default app.

Question, how did you connect the airbag when you removed the trim? As on the Audi A4, there is an airbag connection part of the hazard lights. However, there’s no airbag connection on the new trim piece.

This is pretty cool. But idk about this over systems that use the stock screen. This looks nice at first, especially having a bigger screen, but it’s also really big, sticks out a lot, won’t have shade from sunlight both for readability and lifespan, and makes it more obvious to others what you’re doing. Plus it’s about $200USD more expensive. It’s a tough call cause there’s not many options and this has better integration with the stock system, and it’s so flashy that it might help sell the car down the line. Just bought a 2015 Q5 myself before knowing you can’t just upgrade the stereo/screen with a normal aftermarket one like most cars. So if you have basic radio/CD and that’s it, you’re stuck with it except these few specialty systems.
@5:43 you show audio inputs by the quad lock. I can’t seem to find any audio input other than the mic Jack. Where does the input even come from on the car to plug it into this harness?

Great video, My local Audi dealer just did a navigation update on my wife 2011 A5. The problem is the Nav now has a "unable to read data" message. They want to replace my MMI unit for $4K. My question to you is, does your unit use the Audi software for the Nav or the apple and or android software?
When I complete my install, the factory buttons don't work. The top right and bottom right buttons near the navigation knob in the center console are blinking red every couple of seconds. Yours are doing the same thing @7:59-8:05 - can you tell me what this means and how to fix it?
Got a 2017 a5 convertible. Interior looks exactly the same as yours, however on the website 2017 isn't covered by the 10.25inch screen. Is that because the wiring is different or will it still work? Cheers
I purchased this Android screen about twenty months ago from Nathan at The Fitting Bay, it was a professional and pleasant service from Nathan but the screen itself was nothing but problematic, as I will explain. For the first screen, there were two fitted overall, my Samsung S22 was paired to the screen, and it was working, but on the way home, it disconnected from the internet so that idea was no good so with speaking to Nathan decided to use a sim card at a cost to me and that disconnected also . I informed the fitting bay of the issue, so I returned, and a new screen was fitted, it was paired to my S22, and that problem was sorted, but the beginning of more. The screen freezes at least once a day so I permanently carry a paper clip to reset the unit. if, for some reason, I have to pair my phone again, it is impossible for me or anyone else I know can pair it so back again to the fitting bay, about 1.5 hrs each way and Nathan, after a lot of trying, gets it paired even going to the extent of driving away from the workshop to the road to see if that helps. When I start my Audi I select apps and then select ZLINK and if it doesn't freeze a notice appears saying, unlock your phone, as I am driving I unlock my phone and I have music, maps and phone, that's all I use it for. Another problem is if I am talking on the phone and I select reverse that's the end of the phone call. As you can see I am not happy with this screen which cost me about $1200.00 , as soon as I find a replacement I will do that and cop the financial loss and put this one in the bin.
When you said you didn't connect the camera might be a stupid question but does it still work and beep normally when you shift into reverse? No matter which mode you're in ?
@@ryanmtb8630 I ordered it and they sent it to the wrong place and never even told me it was delivered and then denied doing anything wrong and never sent out a replacement for me so I got a refund and ordered from somewhere else. I'd stay away from this one specifically
Do you have instructions or a video on how to separate the black OEM face from the silver bezel? To be able to fit the bezel over the aftermarket face plate that the screen connects to. Great video, thank you for the help.
@@chrys00 So is mine. I find turning off loudness and using the pop or a custom EQ with smart bass enabled seems to work the best. ALl the eq's are way too heavy on the high frequencies. Not sure how it sounded before the screen upgrade as I bought my car with it already installed.

Hi, I have just installed a very similar screen to this. I have an Audi A4 B8.5 Avant 2012, it does has Audi multimedia. I am having an issue with the audio. I cannot hear any audio from the device through the speakers. When I go to the original source, it says AMI is not connected. Any ideas? Many thanks
@@TO-sf3dx I did solve the issue yes. I wouldn’t have been able to on my own. I spoke to the seller I purchased the device off, and he instructed me to cut one yellow wire out the back of the main plug to the screen. This solved the issue and magically AUX was visible and I could select it, audio works perfectly
@@Mezziz when I unplugged the head unit (screen) to put back the trim and reconnected the cables the problem was resolved so my guess is a loose connection possibly.

Would I need a wire harness to hook this up? I bought the same one and the factory harness is not the same, so im just sitting on a new screen I can’t use. I have a 2009 Audi s5. For this to work I think the factory radio has to be malti player for the plugs to fit. Can I buy aftermarket harness set to make this thing work?
For anyone who has an 2011 or earlier A4 B8, I can say that the silver bezel doesn't match the one in the video nor is the one in the video a direct replacement. Also you will likely have to change the CANBUS protocol from 3G+ to 3G if the MMI controls go dead 20 seconds after switching to the android interface from the OEM interface.
My friend was it easy for you to take off the silver trim so to install it to the other part?basically how you took it off with heater?with something sharp carefully?
Can you have side by side app display? This is a feature I would love to have in the sq5. Currently have airlift system and would love to have the visuals on the display without using the handset.

Hmm I really love this screen and I’ll probably put one in the S4 but for daily use carplay on the OEM screen is more than enough, it’s the only thing I use in that car apart from car settings etc
Did the full install, been working like a charm for 5 months. Randomly the mmi knob died, so unplugged cables and replugged them. Got it working but now the screen is a blue whitish tint. Any ideas?
This is available for Left hand drive vehicles too right ? Or does that not matter. Also, does the steering wheel controls still work ? What’s your honest opinion of how it compares to RSNAV system ?
Available for both friend. Steering wheel controls still work! And I’ve not used the system from those guys so I can’t compare sorry! But I’m super happy with our system we’ve installed a bunch of them now and people love it
Hi, I’ve just purchased one of these systems for my Audi A5 2009 model I watched your video which was brilliant I followed everything in your video but I can’t get any sound through CarPlay but sound comes through on the standard radio system. I have the Ami common the glove box which I e plugged that in. Can you advise on what I have to do or I’m doing wrong.

Hi, have the same mod for my audi a5. I also bought an aftermarket backup camera which doesn't work with the android unit. It has power and we used cvbs cable (so basically it should work). I even tried it with a usb dvr. Do you have an idea what's wrong or any suggestions?

Does this upgrade get rid of the hair pulling boot up time for the mmi bluetooth... Because the car is using the same hard drive...Or does this connect to the touch device's own built-in bluetooth module?
@@TheFittingBay it isn't lagging... Just a b8.5 flaw of using a hard drive instead of ssd like these newer models. A little silence is also good at times. If I were to get an mmi system update, wonder how this would affect it. Have you vagcom with this unit?
@@conversationovercoffee mmi update won’t change the unit or performance of the unit at all. It has its own OS. But it also allows the original Audi equipment to be displayed by piggy back cable for video input from OEM screen. So you can do whatever you like with the OEM system and whatever you like with the new system and they won’t affect each other. The only prerequisite is that you order for the correct vehicle type - Audi MMI 3G/3G+ or concert / symphony.

I just bought a 2020 audi a4 avante quattro black edition in nardo grey. My car comes with touch screen as standard but is their a way I can watch RUclips videos or use my tv apps to watch movies/videos ???

Is the wireless CarPlay fast? My experience with the wireless adaptors is that it’s too slow to use for phone calls. And this uses the mic built in to the Audi for phone calls?

it looks awesome!!. this is just nitpicking but i dont like how the screen just sticks out for theft reasons of course. would be nice to see if they a mode where the screen hides when the car turns off.
They are designed to work in extreme temps hot and cold so i don't see you having any issues, the screen is a high quality capacitive so you wont have any issues there either.

I just installed the latest Android 12 model, you don't have to remove the glove box (audi b8.5) can bus taps into the hvac connector

Will this work on my 2012 Audi A4 with the Concert MMI? Also how does it display things such as fan speed and vent control for heating and AC?

@@joesephmontago795 It does overlay onto the screen with your fan/ac controls when you change them for me in my A5. I have a similar screen.

How is the audio quality? Is there a decrease in audio quality when playing music? Also when using CarPlay compared to the original radio?
It’s great have had 0 issues and no major change in sound except radio quality can be poor in bad reception

You might have to activate AMI through the green screen which you'll have to enable it with an obd11

Would I need a wire harness to hook this up? I bought the same one and the factory harness is not the same, so im just sitting on a new screen I can’t use. I have a 2009 Audi s5. For this to work I think the factory radio has to be malti player for the plugs to fit. Can I buy aftermarket harness set to make this thing work?

Yes you can use voice commands and the mic is built in and there is also an external input for mic

For anyone who has an 2011 or earlier A4 B8, I can say that the silver bezel doesn't match the one in the video nor is the one in the video a direct replacement. Also you will likely have to change the CANBUS protocol from 3G+ to 3G if the MMI controls go dead 20 seconds after switching to the android interface from the OEM interface.
My friend was it easy for you to take off the silver trim so to install it to the other part?basically how you took it off with heater?with something sharp carefully?
Can you have side by side app display? This is a feature I would love to have in the sq5. Currently have airlift system and would love to have the visuals on the display without using the handset.

Genuine Bluetooth / mic is it’s own module so you can still use it with this screen..
I think the oem style nav looks better. It just looks like a tablet now. Like in the B9 a4. What do you think is the better system to use daily? This one or the one on your S4?
Hmm I really love this screen and I’ll probably put one in the S4 but for daily use carplay on the OEM screen is more than enough, it’s the only thing I use in that car apart from car settings etc

Did the full install, been working like a charm for 5 months. Randomly the mmi knob died, so unplugged cables and replugged them. Got it working but now the screen is a blue whitish tint. Any ideas?

Available for both friend. Steering wheel controls still work! And I’ve not used the system from those guys so I can’t compare sorry! But I’m super happy with our system we’ve installed a bunch of them now and people love it

Hi, I’ve just purchased one of these systems for my Audi A5 2009 model I watched your video which was brilliant I followed everything in your video but I can’t get any sound through CarPlay but sound comes through on the standard radio system. I have the Ami common the glove box which I e plugged that in. Can you advise on what I have to do or I’m doing wrong.

Hi, have the same mod for my audi a5. I also bought an aftermarket backup camera which doesn't work with the android unit. It has power and we used cvbs cable (so basically it should work). I even tried it with a usb dvr.
Do you have an idea what's wrong or any suggestions?

I recently bought a Xtrons 10 for my 2010 A5 but had to purchase a AMI cable to hear sound but no clear directions from them on how to connect.
Amazing.. would love to see also how to connect the rear camera cause i have it in my car (looking to keep the defaut settings i mean when i put the gear on reverse it will be on directly).. also if this systeme do exist for left driven cars (euro).. one last thing plz, about those extra wiring is it possible to connect a dashboard cam to record in front while driving or park?
Does this upgrade get rid of the hair pulling boot up time for the mmi bluetooth... Because the car is using the same hard drive...Or does this connect to the touch device's own built-in bluetooth module?
It has its own Bluetooth module. Start up isn’t instant but I’m sure it’s faster than your system if it’s starting to lag
@@TheFittingBay it isn't lagging... Just a b8.5 flaw of using a hard drive instead of ssd like these newer models. A little silence is also good at times. If I were to get an mmi system update, wonder how this would affect it. Have you vagcom with this unit?
@@conversationovercoffee mmi update won’t change the unit or performance of the unit at all. It has its own OS. But it also allows the original Audi equipment to be displayed by piggy back cable for video input from OEM screen. So you can do whatever you like with the OEM system and whatever you like with the new system and they won’t affect each other. The only prerequisite is that you order for the correct vehicle type - Audi MMI 3G/3G+ or concert / symphony.

What do you mean by using the audi bluetooth for mic? I have a similar screen and having issue with the mic. Think I'm being a bit stupid... haha. Do you connect your phone to both your audi MMI bluetooth AND the new screen's bluetooth or just the new screen?

Park brake might be something unplugged or just go for a drive and airbag needs to be kept plugged in to prevent dash error

it looks awesome!!. this is just nitpicking but i dont like how the screen just sticks out for theft reasons of course. would be nice to see if they a mode where the screen hides when the car turns off.
How does this screen do in direct sunlight? I have an A5 convertible that I am thinking of putting this in.
They are designed to work in extreme temps hot and cold so i don't see you having any issues, the screen is a high quality capacitive so you wont have any issues there either.
