@@longnguyen80 You'll be surprised what sayings are universal and what are not. For example, I recently noticed 'okay/ok' is popular in many countries of many different languages. It just seems so American and made up word (which it is) but at the same time, it is a VERY useful word so it makes sense it would be adopted in other languages/countries.
Then there are times where I think a saying or word is common elsewhere but it's strictly American.

A two or three bookshelves, or small cube cubbies on top of that counter behind your desk will make great use of the vertical space. Just make sure to secure it to the wall if it's a freestanding unit so it doesn't fall in an earthquake. Display items or stuff you use less often can go higher up. Congratulations on the nice new home!

Those move-in costs are insane! 😱 Also, I think you could get some clear storage boxes that can be stacked on top of each other to organise your camera gear in. That way you can potentially stack the boxes against the far corner of the wall and then have more counter space for other stuff.
Honestly although the upfront cost is big, ultimately this still seems like a great deal to me! Monthly rent is about $1170 CAD, and where I live in Canada (not Vancouver or Toronto), a one bedroom apartment is now going for like $1600 CAD. And my city is not walkable and we don't have any of the amenities you could expect in Tokyo! Granted, our apartments tend to be larger, but there are nice features in this unit that we wouldn't get.

Kichijoji is super nice. As tourists a few years back, we had dinner there, after going to the nearby Ghibli Museum. Nice parks, great shopping/eating area. Different vibe to other parts of Tokyo

when it comes to shelving in decor you can never fail if you go with the "rule of three", for example, a stack of books, an arrangement of plants and a vase. Rule of three= creates harmonious symmetry, declutters a space
