GET PAID TO DO CAR PHOTOGRAPHY.

- A continuation from a video I posted the other week about going out and making money from walking into your local cafe's. Jeff the owner of the cafe "Le Clec" asked me to photograph his car, I filmed exactly how I went out and photographed his car then breakdown the costs behind it.
REMEMBER The most important part to take away from this is that you have to go out and make these connections before getting paid to do car photography or any photography for that matter. The only way that is going to get you paid is by your own hard work... So stop reading this and get out and shoot.

YO! I've found a link here to people that think $700 is too much to charge for an entire photoshoot :ih0.redbubble.net/image.672500657.7180/flat,800x800,075,f.u1.jpg

How many photos do you promise/ or say you'll get, because just charging per hour you could take 1 good photo then fuck around the rest of the hour. Just curious thx!

Appreciate you being open with pricing, thanks! Great shots
No problem
@Mickey Zombish you're a hater.. you're probably just talking smack since you can't get such a good paying gig.
Ripple effect bro, I did some work for Boss Burger shooting their food, the manager really liked me and offered me a part time job to help me get by and now I’m shooting his small clothing brand and new food business he’s starting now as well, not to mention his mates now getting me to do their custom sneaker photos and conventions! It’s all about making a connection!
Maxykee that’s bad ass

I don't blame him to charge that much money. every craftsman decides how much his craft is worth. If you want buy it. If you don't want it's OK. *Great job* dude. thanks for being transparent......
'i'm picking up my son', best one liner in history of man kind hahah
People saying "770 is tii mich", bro that "picking up my son" thing is worth a grand jahshshajajajaja u rock
Dude, at first i thought $700 was ridiculous...but then those shots at the end that you showed us blew my socks. I would have happily given $700 for those shots. Well done and thank you for all the tips. Video was very well done!
Moral of this video: "Jeff is a cool dude. Be like Jeff."
Michael Miller, Exactly.
The way you explain your shot and shot mechanics and apertures and the ideas and vision behind the way you actually end up with a shot is wild. Please PLEASE PLEASE keep doing it, like explaining the aperture f/4 and the city backdrop part.
I really really like the transparency man!
If it’s one thing I have trouble with, it’s pricing. I also charge $100/ hour but just for the shoot (no travel time) and that fee includes all edited photos full res. But you’re far ahead of me on editing skills, I’m still learning. So I don’t think you charge too much.
But it is great to know you’re open and honest with us. Thank you!
$700 is not a lot of money for a photo shoot, not only are you paying for the time it takes to do the photo shoot but you're also paying for the knowledge that the person has. It takes a long time and years of practice to know what to do and how to do it well. Anyone can take a photo but not everyone can take great photos, the time you spent over the years in learning your craft is huge and needs to be recouped one photo at a time. Its the same in any business, recouping the R&D is just good business.
Easy sub here from me!
Love how you're actually showing us the shoot, talking about why the pictures are taken in the way they are, you're open about pricing etc. Way too many photographers here on RUclips talk about it, but never show the "hands-on" part, so cheers for that :) keep it up with these vids
Appreciate it bro 😁🙏
“So stop reading this and get out and shoot”

Great shots! I will have you know, I took your advice - I went out randomly asking boutiques if they needed a photographer for their marketing photos. Booked 3 jobs! Thanks for the advice - keep uploading!!!
brittany wheeler That’s wonderful! I’d really be curious to see how you went from there !
@@JA-hg6ee I booked them fairly quickly then 2 of them called and canceled and the third never called me back. The issue seems to be I don't have a big portfolio. Please put out more car photography content. It’s great ! 👍🏽
Prices are different all around the world.
700 for a car shoot in Estonia is a lot and probably only accessible for larger companies and even they try to haggle it to half price.
But Let's put it in perspective.
1. How much is average rent for a 2 room apartment ~40m2?
2. What is the average salary?
3. What is a price for a cup of coffee?
In Estonia the price for the shoot would be around 100-300€
Sure it could be more and there are guys doing it for 50€.
But doing the math if the photography will be done through a company not in cash.
Full day shoot.
Day rent for camera, lenses etc gear. 100€ - even if you own it the you had to pay for it, gear wears over time and something might break so you need some reserve.
you want 10€ per hour for services and the shoot planing etc will take you roughly 8h
With the salary taxes in Estonia it will be ~140€
SUM 240€ (+20% VAT if you are a subject to VAT) making a total of 288€
in perspective the average rent in Estonia is ~400€
Salary is ~1000 (usually 6-8€/h net) and coffee is about 2€ per cup.
So 700€ would be a bit much :)
Even the 280€ makes most people doubt and the 50€ guys have a market.
For selling the car you don't really need a superb quality as the rest are already rubbish and a 20% bump in quality will make you stand out.
I'm happy that you got paid instead of asked to trade for a month's worth of coffee. Too many people out there will think they can ask their cousin to shoot for free on an iphone.
This is one photo/video channel that I really respect for the hustle. Keep it up man!
This dude is a legend, I’ve been trying to get into photography but I don’t know how much to charge or how to even get people to book me, thank you for being completely transparent even with the prices, much love from California and I wish you the best
genuine af, this is the real grind people are afraid to confront, no other way to start unless you get lucky.

You're going to love the camera bro!
🤯🤯 your camera A7R3 is sooooo LEGEND!!
North Borders should I get the a7riii or A7iii
Shiiit i clearly don't charge enough for my car shots
nah 770 for 20 pics is way too fuckin much. They're dope pics but in MD you could get similar or better for like 300
Acti I agree $100 per hour for clicking a few pictures and editing is overrated.
@@smhmyhead666 you realize he has camera equipment worth over 2k, has to find the locations to shoot the cars in, his laptop to edit is probably worth over 2k too, then he has to pay for both light room and Photoshop yearly which is like 300 dollars. He then has to probably overlay photos to make them look best it can and then process to edit it till the client is happy with the end result. Photography is not about clicking a few pictures and editing, its fucking hard and $700 for a shot like that with the equipment he has is in reality not that bad. Ive seen people charging like 5000 dollars for a wedding with like 100-150 photos.
@@smhmyhead666 well it's not that simple - now he can click his photos and edit them easily but before he had to learn and practice. The immense work he's put into acquiring these skills is what you pay, not purely the hours of the shoot.
@@smhmyhead666 thats the same as saying an incredible painting should only cost £50 because thats what painting a fence costs. He isnt just clicking the shutter with the car in frame.
Out of a list of videos I figured that yours looked the most authentic and real. I was right... think you for turning a fantasy into money. I wish you lots of prosperity in whatever you create.
dude, first video I've watched of yours as it came up in my suggested videos. Love your style, especially the intro "how the f**k are ya?", so good!
A video at this level of detail is what I have been missing on RUclips.
i was like damnn 100 bucks an hr is steep, but then you whipped out the final photos. DAMNNNNNNNNNN worth it
That mobile phone trick is pretty good! I like to do light painting and usually set up the tripod, camera, focus and after that, I discover that I don´t like this angel or location at all. Thanks for the tip!
Dope video man! I'm just wondering who pays 770$ for some pictures of his car 😂 not that they are not dope and the price is what it costs too, but I mean.. I barely have 770$ for a car lmao

Love your "no bullshit" style mate. Too many youtubers are way too focused on being PG that they end up with nearly the same personality lol
You are one my favourite content creators!!! Not only you inspire us to go out and find clients but you also talk about how much we should charge. Super helpful for a begginer

good timing, im about to shoot a lambo this week and idk what prices to charge since im not used to charging that much because im only 16

How u gonna drive to the locations?😂😅
The average price of an amateur photographer per edited picture(after photoshop) is $20-30 per picture I myself charge $17 just to undercut a bit. People also charge by the hour. Good luck bro! Have fun

All the elements of this video was amazing, vlog sorta style, educational, comedy, business, results....loved it
Thank you so much for being transparent about how you charge and your process from beginning to end. That's super valuable to someone in my position and it isn't something most people are prepared to do. It is appreciated, bro. Keep it up!
I actually like that shot in front of the city, where you think you should have placed it the other way around, because you're beautifully playing with the colors there, going from the red wall on the left, over the red taillights, the gradient from red to blue on the side of the car and having the blue light on the right of the pic. Nice work!
Most underrated photographer on youtube, also entertaining and talented as hell, keep up the great work.
Thanks for this, being open about pricing is a big thing so this I appreciate. It's helped me consider my pricing! Awesome shots of that BMW. Mad NFS vibes with those colours :)
Awesome video. Really appreciate the transparency in your pricing, helpful for someone like myself looking into possibly doing freelance work. Dope photos and keep up the good work!
The hustle is real my dude, thank you for your content, i love the red/blue vibes in the photos
Loved the video! By the way the best clients for cars are the ones who own rental places. I might of made my first client last week. Did the same thing you did with the cafe video! Anyways im still a noob so im here learning from you. Great stuff!
I'm glad you got paid for this. Your photos are decent for an amateur but I would have been pretty disappointed if I got delivered those photos. You could have worked more with lighting and compositing of shots. Even with a single light, you could "paint" light on the car while using a slow shutter speed. I feel like many of your photos could have been improved through use of lights besides the ambient light. There's other techniques you can apply as well.Any way, good video. I hope keep on learning and growing!
Awesome value packed video! Thanks bro !!!
I enjoy the information on your videos, and especially the walkarounds to get some immediate gigs.
A little note to new photographers - don't lie to get by security with someone else's expensive car, unless you have killer business insurance.
Your hustling skills at the parking is the biggest takeaway from this video, haha. Great stuff. Subbed! Keep it up!

Great photos and it's very useful to know the charging fees!
Thank you for the tips. I really liked the water shot were you get the reflection! 😍
Very creative.
The best part of the story is that he paid for that photos haha
cheers bro!
My friend's dad has a GT3RS, did a photoshoot and BAM I take pics of Laferrari, 918s, Hurucans. Connections are everything
For ya'll saying that 770$ is a lot for these dope photos, it is not entirely the photos that you are paying for, it is the skills and techniques honed by this guy for years in order to perfect these shots. Yeah you can buy an entry level dslr for 770$ but it will take a lot of time to get to this level, and some people wouldn't even bother or have the time learning photography and stuff.
No shit almost spat my water all over my work Laptop when the "at least an hour ahah" popped up.
Side note about your MM vs Shutter Speed however, Sony's having IBIS can achieve 1x1 Shutter/Focal Length however, anyone with a none-IBIS body and none-stabilised Lens unless they're very steady will get camera shake if shooting hand held.
I thought Ibis doesn't work in stills except while you're making a video
@@ashutoshtiwary9605 IBIS works in both Video and Stills. You can also manually set the Focal Length of IBIS for Manual Lenses.
