What is your GO TO lens? The ONE lens you CANT live without?
i am poor so i only have one lens :(
50mm I can’t stay away.
ALL OF THEM
85mm f1.8
27-240! Sony.
First half of the video:-
Why you need a telephoto lens- 5%
It's cold out here- 95%
Candy Boy i honestly forgot that was the point of the video until i read this comment
More like .01%
Peter made more friends in one video than I ever did in my entire High School life
I know how you feel. Travel. Go to Medellin Colombia and you will make so many friends! parque lleros
That’s sad. Never too late though.
I have no friends :(
I feel bad for you bro 🥺🤣
Sad Live
This man flipping a $1800 lens in his hands like its a baguette
NielsxV lmao
😂😂😂😂
hahaha killed me
that's what i thought lol
He gotz de monayy 💵
Peter shows $1800 70-200 i just slowly stare at my 18-55 kit lens.
Me looking at my 70-300mm lens 😎
Same here hahahaha!
lol.. i guess even making the most out of a kit lens takes a lot of honing the craft.. i haven't been able to justify getting a 800$ Sigma 150-600 for a long time now..
You guys having cameras and lenses???
Here in my poor country thinking this lens here cost almost 4 k dollars and the average salary is arround 800 ... thats like 5 months saving all the money you earn with out expend a cent 😥
What a morning! It was great to meet you out there but next time you've gotta come in to. The lake got its first snow today.. you would have loved it!!
Matthew Littlewood hey matt, dope vid. You mind checking out my channel?
👍
That dive was legendary dude! Ontario resident as well, friggin' eh! haha cheers!
Hey Matthew, went to check out your instagram and only found LBGQ weddings. Is that yours?
you are a hero diving in so cold water! By the way, yr time lapse and sound background are superb!
Welcome to my backyard. We also skip autumn and go straight to winter.
snowcat Scrolling through the comments as i wait for the video to buffer and the last person I expected to see was one of my favorite motovloggers! Sick to see you here man!
snowcat lol, this was cool seeing snow at here, love the motovlogs as always!
Whaaaatttt I didn’t expect to see you here snowcat lol
Eeeyyyyy the Cat!!
snowcat Peter lives in Canada 😬
Hey Peter
Just wanted to let you know that your videos have reignited the photography flame in me that had died some 15 yrs ago. This time around I’m doing it for myself and for fun. !!!! Cheers from Ottawa.
thats awesome peter!
I'm going through the same! His Channel is such a revival for some of us dead photographers!!!
Same here
I have recently done the same. That's awesome stuff 🤘
I feel like making a response video called "WHY EVERYONE NEEDS A WINTER JACKET"
Welcome to Alberta. This is where I live and vlog. Canadian rockies in Alberta are just incredible
Amazing man
“You can paddle too”
Peter: “... I’m good.”
An icon
Peter doing work hahahah! Joke of the year! Haha
Pete is a LEGEND! 😂😂
Matthew Vaccaro 😂😂😂
Nikko Bryn i agree 😂
White male privilege even has levels of priority in it haha
Matti's so comfortable on that canoo because he's got that viking DNA
Not sure what you were thinking with that comment
rabbaberjasulta á sólríkum degi ahahah like everything went wrong with that comment
Considering his name's Finnish that's not given, but last name Haapoja points to western Finland, so it's conceivable. Canoo though, yeah no. We have traditional row boats in Finland.
Me to, I'm from Norway
Canooooooo
Pete, I wanna say thank you for trying your best to capture the beauty so that people can watch or look at it from the comfort of our homes. I appreciate that quality your work has. Thank you for sharing so much. ✌️
that slo-mo of matti paddling 👌 way to con him into doing all the paddling
What's the music?
I enjoy every second of your tutorials, especially those cinematic shoots
That dude had 2.1k followers back then, now he's up to 50k.
He owes you a beer mate.
Pete's like one of the few couple of hundred people on the planet who can pay with exposure and it be worth it.
now he’s at 4.25 million -
munstercookies Whats his channel?
@@liamm347 Matt's at 64.9k followers on Instagram. munstercookies misunderstood and said he was at 4.25mil because he was talking about Peter McKinnon's subscriber count on RUclips.
Matt's Instagram is in this video if you were still curious.
That’s the power of an endorsement.
Watching your videos makes me feel alive Peter. Thank you so much!!
Dude!! When you were in 200mm, it looked like you had a CGI background, so I really love that compression.
Also, I’m visiting Calgary, AB in January to study abroad in UCalgary, and I’m now really stoked to visit the place, especially your favorite place, which for what I’ve seen, it’s so AMAZING! Can’t wait to arrive and experience the beauty. ❤️🔥🇨🇦
I've watched about 10 of your videos and tbh I Love your vibe, you're energy is very captivating and I enjoy watching your videos thus far and they make me enjoy loving photography as my hobby even more. Keep up the good work brother
So much positive energy 🤩. Lots of love, Peter ! ❤️
I am constantly amazed by your work!! It’s so phenomenal 😍
Love that Matti is fully equipped for a rain storm and Peter has spring time vibes in the mountains 😂 I’m so sorry though dude it was probably *_freezing_*
Cool Katie ...how do you do that bold font "freezing" ? ...so cool 👌👌
Metaldetection tube world wide put the word in between * on both side like this * cool * but they must touch
Both asterisks must touch the *word*
ahahah Matti is a survivalist!
@@Watttttttt123 *great* thanks for the tip
Love ur videos such an inspiration struggled many years with PTSD and watching you gives me the hope to get back out there, Thank You :-)
Hi Pete, thank you for the videos
Peter is in 0 degree weather crouched under a rock and his composition and coloring is still A1. Explain.
Grace Kelly 0° Celsius lol. And coloring is done in post.
Ben Troxell yep haha
OthreeO3 hm true
you can make a good composition and coloring with less expensive gear you don't need a 1DMK2 and that specific lens(probably 24-70mm) to get a shot like that
A 1 out of 10 who remembers this from a movie?😂😂😅
Bought a new 2019 Hyundai
Didn't come with any chipmunks. Want a refund.
Shoulda got an i8
Yo P! Your videos are inspirational AF! I just got started in photography/videography this year and your definitely paving the way for new and old heads to have fun and make money and friends in the game!
Peter, you always make the best videos. They're always incredible quality, always entertaining and always informative.
Appreciate you man!
The lens that nobody thinks they want.. or need.. until they use it and pull this face 😲
500mm? :D
What, every photographer i know wants that lens. Who doesn't? It's legendairy
I have the original 70-200 F/2.8 L "Non IS" - still a sweet lens!
You’re not talking about 70-200mm 2.8, don’t you?
Just remember no zoom will ever be the quality of a fixed prime. Yes it is a hell of a lens but put it up against a fixed 300 and then compare the quality.
Are you the Canadian board of tourism's secret WEAPON, Peter?
This does feel like he might be
Generic_nerd Right? Thank Frikkin God it's so gohdamn cool & gorgeous that we don't even care!
lol
I felt the same😄😄
Yes I feel the same 😀
Man ... u make your videos look so seamless and so inspiring that I cant stop thinking about upgrading some of my tools! awesome stories every time buddy!
You are really unmatched in your genre. Thank you Peter!
Real info you need starts around 9:00, the rest is about how cold it is there
Thank you!
This is exactly what I needed to watch this morning, thank you 🙏🏻
The beginning cinematic is amazing good job man! You have inspired me to start getting into cameras right now I’m saving up to buy a camera! Thank for the inspiration
Awesome video as always! I so much appreciate!!
Just so you know, it's because of you that my mom and I decided to go on a impromptu photography trip to Canada to visit this lake, and it was in the more wintery time there so everything was completely frozen over and blizzardy. It was still an incredible amount of fun, and we got some pretty awesome shots, so thank you very much for giving me the inspiration to do something "crazy". ❤️
this is one of the most beautiful videos I’ve ever watched.
just bought one! Thanks for the advice. Love ur videos! Never stop.
I woke up having a notification of a new video of yours. Man thank you for bringing me with you to that amazing scenery. It was truly amazing.
This is the best editing I’ve ever seen.
What a beautiful location. I really should get out more and explore this beautiful planet.
Yet another AWESOME video, thanks for this! Loved surprise of the opening, totally going to use that 👍🏻
Amazing photos..... and the hard work you put into it.... thank you!
For cryin out loud Pete! Give the man a link! Don't make me type it in manually... haha..
instagram.com/littlewood.photography/ If I may..
Hahahahahaha!
UGHH That blue water always seems SO clean I WANT TO DRINK IT
This is a really beautifully shot video man! Thanks for sharing!
I just have to say I just subscribed to your channel and I’m new to photography and you take some amazing video sequences and amazing photos. It’s very inspirational and I’m grateful I found your channel. Keep up the great work.
I use the f2.8 70-200 at work. I like it, but kinda heavy. So bought myself an f4 version. The lightness and sharpness made me fall in love immediately.
@artistandcamera3245 With the f4, how do you keep it sharp and do you miss the bokeh from the 2.8?
Would be great to see a behind the scene of you making a vlog. Can you hire a friend to shoot and edit it. From his perspective and not yours? That’d be very interesting
I agree!
Wow, this is one of my favorite vlogs of yours! Great work!
this is my favorite video of yours, always see it on my recommended
Peter at first: Why everyone needs a macro lens
After that: Why everyone needs a prime lens
Now: Why everyone needs a telephoto lens
Future: wHY eVeRyONE nEeDs eVerY LeNS
(Just kidding guys I love Peter no toxic comments please 😂)
As someone who wants all the lenses I agree 100% with pete and chris hau about needing all the lenses
Hahaha true. I'm glad it's not like he's contradicting himself or anything, simply explaining how to get the best out of each type of lens.
OthreeO3 Two weeks? you filthy capitalist pig, lots of people would have work for months to get it. I don't even dream of an almost working 70-200 f4...
+NGC1433 Well you can get a 70-210 f4 for a lot less, I got mine in really good condition for about 40 dollars.
CockatooDude Where? I need that!
You know its going down when those black bars slide in!!!!!
So Stunning.. best footage I came across in a long time!
Great energy! Looking forward to exploring along side ye.
i love the way you explain things buddy! 🔥
9:58 definitely loved that one
I'm Egyptian and one of my dreams is to visit a forest like this.. We obviously don't have this type if landscape here. Shame on borders and visas that prevent me from exploring the world 😞
Why can’t you apply for a visa?
Nada Majdy you guys have ancient history and the pyramids!
I've traveled a lot and learned that every place has something special and unique to offer, including your own back yard. That said, I hope you do get the chance to travel and see the sights one day!
Don't blame borders and visas. World would probably be a shitshow if no such things existed although I'd like to see it in action!
wow i feel sorry, as im here sitting in norway swimming in 5 degree water with friends :)
Amazing video loved the water coming up and the tips with the long lens!
hats off to you 🙏🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 . amazing amazing amazing video ..specially the B-rolls❤️❤️❤️😍
damn, that side by side by side comparison was so helpful. my telephoto goes to a 280mm full frame equivalent and I def want to shoot at that range more after watching this
Yes
crop camera with telephoto lens is heaven
I bet! I'm gonna give it a go
Will you drink a Philippine-Province brewed coffee if ever I send you one? Lol. Keep up them great videos man!
5 years and this is still my favourite video on RUclips!
So true, one of Peter's best videos.
As usual!! Great video and content. Love all your work. God bless you Pete. :)

Definitely not the same photographer...
Actually, you probably didn't even mean to post a link... youtube just thinks it's a link because of the period. But that links to some dudes website based in NJ

Every second
hahah the intro of the vid is priceless thanks bruvvvvvv i appreciate your info and tutorials mayne youre a photographers hero!
yet another legendary video... ur amazing pete
Canon 70-200 f/2.8 lens is one of the sharpest lens I've ever seen.
Yove never seen the Leica 90-280 i guess lol
and the most expensive!
@@oceanadex no there are some that cost WAY more then the 70-200. Check out the Prime fast L telephotos from Canon. If you really want sticker shock check out Zeiss lenses for Hasselblad cameras.
I thought Jesus would walk on water LOL 😂
He dive!
Just subscribed. Great videos with really good tips on photography, Lightroom & life in general. Thanks guys. Mark 🇬🇧
Wow. That place is beautiful!! The color of the water is unreal
Always making me want to move to Canada!
Håvard Høgestøl it's amazing here
6:58 "I love making friends" - It's the Canadian thing to do !
That was over the top in so many ways! Thanks.
Hell yeah Peter. That lake really is breathtaking! Great video as always.
Thank you for making these amazing video, You inspire me so much. Thank you peter. I hope you see this, I want to make videos as great as yours, you teach me so much about video styles and editing. Thank you
Also question: What is a good mic for a beginner like me? And possibly a good beginner camera, since I use a T3i? Thanks
Good luck man i really hope u achieve what u dream for !!!
Go for the canon 80d thats what peter uses for vlogs at times, and its super amazing and not super pricy
and a rode video mic pro is ur friend
Don't think you can't make decent video just because of your camera & lack of mic. Here's a video I made using that EXACT setup (T3i camera & absolutely nothing else)
ruclips.net/video/xL5hhXD8KWY/видео.html
Yeah I was looking at the 80D, it looks good. The Rode mic looks great too. Thanks :)
Is there something specific that your current T3i can't do or does not good enough?
Cheaper alternatives to the suggested 80D that have equal video functionality are the Canon T7i or M50.
Do you have any prime lenses for shallower depth of field? If not check out the $100 Canon 50mm STM. On an APSC camera like yours it gives a very similar effect as the Canon 85mm on a FF cameras Peter uses (have a look at Peters video "THE KING OF B ROLL" on how such a lens could be used in your videos)
I don't have much experience with external mics as I often lay music over my entire video just like you do with many of your. So I can't recommend a specific one. For me a big reason for this is that the sound recorded in camera is often unsatisfactory. So if you plan on recording more sounds especially voice a better mic will certainly make a difference. I would suggest getting a mic before getting a new cam because the look of your videos is nearly the same no matter the camera. Not so with sound.
Yeah I don't know, my video just doesn't look as crisp as I would want it to. I also would like to get at least 60 fps in 1080p. But yeah I should probably look for a lens and mic first. Thanks for the tips bro :)
7:03 I didn't know that Peter is klingon
Actually watching this today and when i see your post on ig definitely wanna see that first!
You are great! Now I have to watch all of your videos!!
You’re like “Wait I forgot to give you a hug”!! 😂 Dam Canadians 😂
I literally felt my blood run cold when he jumped into the lake! That’s never happened before.
Love the video and how amazed you were in Canada...but - then you MUST visit Switzerland!
Great content Pete!
I just love the way of how u ended the video
awesome right?
Papa pig
God I love the compression on the 200mm..
Try a 300, 400, or 600. The 200 is not what any wildlife or sports photog would consider a long lens.
@@silbay even 300 isn't tbh
Peter bro....your energy is vast!! super dope!!
I love you with your reviews. Awesome!
Who remembers this place from the photo in one of his photoshop tutorial?
They added a new coating to the lens and it changes the color of your images from the previous canon tele glass.
Your videos truly make my day...great work
You guys did a phenomenal job , thanks
Wilderness channel when is that one coming :D
haha I like that he says how cold he is, then proceeds to put his hands in the freezing water. Your sacrifices do not go unnoticed my friend 😂
Great shots man!
Hey Peter, where did you get that awesome hoodie? Love the videos man! Keep them coming!
The VERY SMARTEST and COOLEST way to enter a glacial lake! 6:06 Now I want to go here!
11:17 visiting Canda is on my bucket list. I was hoping to do it this year but then Corona happened... When (in your opinion) is the best time of year to visit Canada?
GoPro Cowgirl Summer is the best
You are great Man. Subscribed, straight away.
Wow ! The view is phenomenal. Forget the lens review, lol.
Just the view and the water is just mind blowing!
