I like the idea that anger is just another side of loving kindness. We get angry with other people when we want to control them for, we think, their own good, but they resist or don't understand. We need to turn this wrong attitude into one just of wanting the best for others without our having to exert control.
What you are describing reminds me of non-attachment. We would probably benefit the most from loving-kindness without clinging to a certain outcome, especially when that outcome is, like you mention, outside of one's control. To have the wisdom of the latter - the extent of our control in the present moment - would be another skill worth developing. If I understand Buddhism correctly, the pathological desires (tanha) that lead to unnecessary, if not all, suffering (dukkha) can be characterized by the following 3 poisons: * Delusion (ignorance, confusion) * Attachment (greed, lust) * Aversion (Anger, hate, disgust) Reassuringly, the more wholesome desires (chanda) that can free us from some, if not all, suffering can be characterized by the following 3 antidotes: * Non-Delusion (Wisdom) * Non-Attachment (Generosity) * Non-Aversion (Loving-Kindness) For a long time, I severely misunderstood the 3rd noble truth. I thought his holiness was advocating for the complete absence of desire. However, now I believe that, during this lifetime at least, this is impossible. The best thing we can do while we are bound to all the impermanent conditions of our reality is to curate our desires to the best of our abilities.
You are not alone. Angry impermanent. So lets we diligenly practice love and compassion to ourself and all sentient being. If we full love and compassion then we peace mind, calm and patient. Have bless day .
Thank you Rinpoche! Even as a christian I very much love and cheerish Buddhism. I pray for Your long life and preservationnof Dharma in this degenerate time!
@@medicalanimal1479 Maybe his nature was good before age 4. His father beat him up regularly, as I heard. That probably had a distorted effect on him, which contributed to his personality.
I have realized that a lot of my anger, resentment, anger, fear guilt, and sadness is love and compassion for myself at the core because they are there to push me to so better and because I am not being my true potential.
This is why we have to be so careful these days when everyone wants to "cancel" someone just for having different feelings or opinions than theirs. It's often not as extreme as people fear. But, even in the case of outright, more extreme hatred, if it is met with more hatred and extremism, it can't help, and we are seeing that. I am so grateful for this message and the perspective shift. I'm sad so many people claim they want to help change the world to a more compassionate place, yet they are still saying and doing things to others that encourage the opposite. Things are so intense and reactive these days, we definitely all need this wisdom. I pray we absorb it well for the betterment of humanity (myself included!) 💖

This is really wonderful ...I have been feeling anger with politicians and scientists in my country at the coronavirus times and I see how it is because there is loving kindness there in it .. Already feel transformation....and understand that they ...the politicians and scientists believe their thoughts so they cannot help what they do ....
Controlling our emotions is probably the hardest thing, specially when we're angry, jealous or needy. I hope I get to find the loving compassion within these negative emotions.
Such calm and compassion in your voice dear rinpoche🙏🏻 going through the worst I've ever been and a breakup at the verge of marriage.. Two weeks into the breakup, I attribute most of my sanity that's left to the calmness I receive from your directions🙏🏻
Watching this video knowing that Mingyur RINPOCHE took off to the Himalayas as a wandering Yogi recently, inspires me beyond words and reminds me of the importance to increase practice, EMAHO! May he be protected and free from all obstacles!
I hope my friend and teacher and student Justins anger can transform to loving kindness, he probably wont wanna watch this video, but ill meditate on it, wishing him well, may he be fully healed!
Thank you so much for sharing this. It's truly a gift and blessing to me ❤ It helped me transform my pain into something soothing and so I can focus better on better thoughts about my situation
Have a different relationship with your thoughts as love and hate is complementary and one cannot exist without the other. Hold them together and accept them and be at peace!
Thank you for sharing another inspirational message.Just today I ask myself the question .What do I really want within my heart? The answer was joy, peace of mind, health.Uncondition love dispels all defendants.
I am tired of all this bad peoples that are stressing and making me sick, Thanks for your video, I try to calm myself, but probably the only way to find happines is to be far away from peoples
We spend all our time lost in thought. Recognizing anger in the mind and body in a state of mindful awareness inherently shortens the half life of said anger. In other words don’t add fuel to the anger and hatred fire. You have to think of reasons why you’re angry to remain angry. You have to think of reasons why you hate to continue hatred. Simply acknowledge the feelings of anger and hatred as another appearance in consciousness and you will find it dissipates.
Hatred, you dont have to do nothing about it. Dont even comment is it good or bad, just observe it. Watch it with kindness and patience, it will transform into compassion, because awareness is like a transforming force. Turns shite to gold.
He talks about hatred for others and hatred for self, then gives a really good example and explanation of turning hatred for self into loving kindness, by recognising that at the base of it, hatred for self might be an expression of a need to be better. So, the need to be better is what on the surface seems like self hatred. Can anyone give a similar example or explanation of how to turn feelings of hatred for others into loving kindness? What aspect of loving kindness could be at the base of hatred for others? Especially feelings of hatred towards other people who have harmed or wronged you.
Nice video. I really appreciate the message you are trying to get across. I wish we were all capable of understanding each other at a conceptual level rather than just through linguistics and body language though. That sure would clear up a lot of miscommunication!
He wantd to say that - The deep rooted cause of everything is Love and kindness .Every action actually you are doing is the manifestation of love and compassion...Anger/hate is the manifestation of love and compassion .
