      Def OP. Agreed on a HARP sweep. But this games def bugged out n needs some tuning. Is anyone else having a prob with the game loading? I getting black screens every 2-3 games n having to reset. Hit detection seems to be off too...

    Something Ace missed is you can switch to a recon class at ANY POINT during a round of snd and know where all the enemies on the map are. It completely breaks snd.

      You can also pick a recon class while in killcam to get it and then switch to something else, getting the majority of the advantage of recon for free

    The issue with recon snowballs when you're reminded that the spawns are a mess and the more recent CoD games are notorious for revenge spawns.

      @@Jvid752 It's not SBMM based but there are definitely revenge spawns. I've gotten far too many revenge kills by immediately popping up behind the person that killed me, even on larger maps.

    Really loved that they brought back high alert.. again... I really enjoy when I sweep my aim through a sight line. And somebody who I couldn't actually see gets a big bright notification on their screen to let them know I "saw" them. It's great honestly.

    The issue with the Ghost and Cold Blooded suggestions is that it makes using your own Recon the only counter to other Recons.

    Not only is the “wall hack” part OP but the blue perks people typically run to get the Recon combat specialist ability are good like Foward Intel, Ghost, and Ninja.

      Even 1 pulse off spawn that isn’t counter-able as a blob instead of silhouette and then another pulse at 1 second that is countered by ghost but is also a silhouette.

    It is a BIG problem. Cuz if you're someone that pushes and flanks and plays aggressive this is a strong deterrent. A lot of times this encourages players to hang back and not push. And its sad.
    Cuz too often you're pushing and near the enemy spawn and its basically taking away all elements of surprise you have.
    It needs a rework. And this is coming from someone who uses 4 blue perks.
    Its too much.

    regarding the walls portion of recon: you can hold off on picking your class or switch your loadout for a decent period of time after spawning and you’ll get the wall hack.
    this is broken in search and destroy because you’ll be able to get intel such as 2 went B, 2 went mid, and 2 went A as opposed to just seeing them in spawn. I really hope to see this addressed and nerfed

    I love the idea of adding a counter to Recon; I think the biggest issue is simply the fact that there's currently no direct counter to it (except for rage quitting lol)
    I do also think that buffing the activation speed of Enforcer (Quick Fix) and giving Strategist some kind of buff could also entice players to choose a different specialist. It's just too easy to pick Recon in its current state, ESPECIALLY on HC Faceoff where it's easily the most broken and where Strategist is almost completely useless

      Quick Fix is borderline op as of right now, imo. It doesn't need the movement speed and the heal's delay is its only balancing part.

      @@SlCKNESS_ Honestly atm, I'd prefer to run a stim in Core since it heals faster and then use Strategist for getting streaks faster + camo challenges for launchers. Maybe I'm just too used to how fast quick fix was in MWIII, but since BO6 is so fast paced I feel like it makes sense to speed things up and not slow things down

      I would honestly disable the specialties on HC, in standard Recon isn’t broken imo. The only real situation where it would be blatantly overpowered is if someone spawns on you, and I consider that “revenge” for pushing spawns. If you’re on your side of the map it shouldn’t be a problem for you.

    Imo wallhacks should never be a feature in any FPS game. It was cheesy in xDefiant with the ultimate ability, its cheesy in this game. Giving players a wallhack even for a few seconds off spawn is just that, wall hacks, cheats. They should remove that portion of the perk bonus entirely and replace it with a mini map ping off spawn that detects enemies within a certain radius of you, countered by the ghost perk. And Cold Blooded should counter high alert like it has in every game high alert has been in. Wild how they are making these elementary mistakes still.

      I think the snapshot grenade in previous CoDs were cool, in fact the only time I think I liked a wallhack: it was counterable, you knew when you were spotted, and you had to give up a tactical to use it. I also think real time pings is stupid and should not be a thing either.

      I think it’s fine for an ultimate ability, just make it so that using ghost makes you not highlighted. Nobody had this big of a problem with this in black ops three.

    If you wait at the start of the game to pick your class 2 seconds, the perk will ping everyone so you know which way to go. Works in SnD too

    Absolutely agree!!! I was just saying this. I like to play suppressed smg pressed up near spawn. When I watch kill cams my streak is always ended because someone saw me through the wall.

    I think my preferred solution is having the other specialties counter 1 aspect of recon:
    -Enforcer could counter the wallhack part so they can play more agressively around corners (if it's too powerful of a counter, have it be a counter in a certain range);
    -Strategist could counter the High Alert part so it holds true to its name if someone has brains enough to flank the enemy team;
    If they make the wallhack a snapshot like suggested in the video, then I think no changes are needed to Enforcer.

    I like the "brief personal harp" idea because it still protects you from all the janky ass spawns in this game, but without the absurd wall hacks

    Needs to be removed entirely imo. Make Forward Intel the Recon ability and make High Alert a perk again. No amount of nerfing the wall hack would be enough for me

      I don't want it removed but the ability to counter it at the cost of another perk or a nerf of some sort.
      The only people it really effects is spawn killers and campers. Who annoys the hell out of most people. They don't play the objective and it often using what ever is meta. This lets you counter and kill such people which I'm all for.

    Sure, Blue perks are super strong right now, but this seems to make Ghost feel pretty weak as a perk. Even though you're not visible by UAVs and might be running a suppressor, you can see with Vigilance on that you're still spotted on the minimap something like half the time.

    When you don’t have it on the smaller maps you really feel it. You’re at a total disadvantage because with people respawning so fast, you’re constantly visible to someone.
    On the flip side I’ve got a lot of head shots just killing people hiding behind walls with it.

    Honestly i think it's a good perk to fight against spawn camping. Please make a counter for it but I think spawns need to be fixed first.

      Can't fix spawns in a game where movement allows you to cross a map in sub 10 seconds. It'll constantly be flipping and that's just how cod is now

      @@michaelespeland Bro they can't. The movement forces spawn flips. It can't keep up with so many players in enemy spawns constantly so it's putting them all over the map in random places. We can't have dedicated team spawns anymore cause it takes players too fast to get from one side to the other. In older cods if you were in the enemy spawn killing them, there's most likely going to be one who ends up killing you, and then it took you time to get all the way back there. You couldn't just rush blindly in 5 seconds

    Maybe it’s too much, but an interesting way to work the vision pulse would be to allow players to choose whether they use it within a second or two of spawning, but if they do use it, it gives away their own position on the map.

    The best way to fix this is to do one of two things.
    1. Make it a UAV sweep
    2. Make it where it doesn't do the full body of the player, but instead do the over head diamond

    Tehnically speaking, Recon is Not a wall hack. It's a spin-off of Piercing Vision from Vanguard. It only activates for a few seconds after you die. It should be countered with something like Cold Blooded. Everything should have a counter! But removed? Nah! Every year, we get a new COD. And every year the whining starts! 😢 Don't like it? Don't play! It's that simple!

      The problem with recon is that it doesn't really suit the game. The maps are generally small and players often spawn near each other. Therefore, recon gives players too much of an unfair advantage. I agree that it either needs to go, or needs to be able to be countered.
      Best solution would be to bring back snapshot grenades instead. They do a quick recon, but they player is required to remember to use them first, so it's not automatic.

      A wall hack is a cheater program that pin points and tracks enemy players for entire match. Calling this a hack is hyperbolic. The only problem with Recon is there's no counter perk. Don't worry, it will be nerfed soon. Spawns on small maps are always an issue. I don't whine about it. I play to have fun

    After some thought I think the best change is make it so the recon only shows people over 50 meters away or something. Basically taking away the ability to wallbang someone off spawn

    Cold blooded used to counter high alert back in bo3. Good idea about ghost countering the wall hack and cb countering the high alert portions of the combat specialty

    Another rework idea: what if it had a MINIMUM range? So, it would only wallhack starting 10m or 20m out or something like that, so you wouldn't realistically be able to get those immediate wallbangs. Even that I think would remove a major issue with it without changing anything else too severely. TBH with how fast paced and up-close the game is, I find the High Alert component fairly useless outside of super niche scenarios, so I do think it's fair to leave it with some solid strength on the wallhack. You are right that it has gone too far in its current state though.

    If they're not gonna nerf it, I think the wallhack should be a scorestreak or a field upgrade like we had on BO3 & BO4 with the Vision Pulse specialist.
    Also on certain maps like Subsonic, this allows you to hit a wallbang headshot with snipers as soon as the match starts lol

    Pretty much only use this while playing hardcore moshpit, it's very helpful to try and avoid an immediate death on spawn. I do think either making it a snapshot or cutting down the timer would make it a lot more fair

    Great counter would be to have a 4th option. Weve got red, green and blue. A gold option of perks could have a gold specialty. Adding this would do two things: more content in perks which i dont think has ever been done and to counter the specialty. It also open up the opportunity for one existing speciality to counter another existing specialty.

    I like it. With COD spawn logic, getting spawn trapped on a map like skyline should never happen in the first place, but it does, and Recon helps....sometimes.

    Hi Ace. Love the video as always and you make great points on this. As someone who uses this specialty I personally love it but I’ll admit it is ‘broken’; however, it is almost a crutch for when your team is being spawn trapped. I have never experienced a Call of Duty game with gameplay like this ie. every game is a massacre and one team being spawn trapped. Unfortunately I feel like my team is always the one being spawn trapped and it is impossible to get out or even get a kill without this initial wall hack. The recon specialty saves my k/d a bit for when I’m spawn trapped and can even help the team break out of it. Thank you Ace as always. Just felt like I needed to add this perspective to this take

      a broken perk is not the answer for making bad maps though. If they made better maps and removed sbmm, you wouldnt be in that situation nearly as often, thus the perk would not be needed then.

    Black ops is meant to be a more unrealistic and have op perks and guns. Mw is meant for more realistic gameplay if you don’t like bo6 go back to mw3 lol it’s a great game I’m having a blast👍🏼

    I’m an old COD guy. 54! I think this game has finally done me in. Between the movement and the hopping all over the place I just can’t keep up with all these kids. I feel like there’s $1 million on the line every time I play. There is zero fun for me. Ahhhh.. keep watching videos in hopes they slow shit down or come up with that old man game mode. lol .. I liked Invasion.. pretty chill and fun…

      Im only 23 and im right there with you. My R.A. is catching up to me and I guess my hearing and vision aren't as good as they used to be. I just simply can't see or hear or react like everyone else. I just spawn and fall over. $70 to play respawn simulator. And I was so excited for the motion sensor feature they added but there's no point in using anything other than controller aim assist.

    i don't have a problem with it. it's not unfair unless you're playing on face off maps or babylon and also get a bad spawn (but that's a spawn problem not a recon problem). I just think there should be soft (not hard) counters to this. The other specialties are extremely powerful as well, you feel powerful in this game.
    Also if we're complaining about free "real time tracking", why not complain about assassin? the assassin marker tracks the enemy in real time jut like a harp, on the sole condition that player is on a 3 kill streak. Let things be powerful

    With how fast the ttk is in cod, high alert basically just gives you enough time to think "Damn I'm about to die from this direction." In regular core modes. In objective modes like search, or something like WZ, then it might have a little more usefulness, but it's not normally anything to write home about. You are not going to consistently 180 someone that already has you in their sights and expect to win that fight.

    if you read the description of Ghost, it says you cant be detected by RECON, but i dont know if it is working or not.

      I agree. Kind of. The only time it works against you is if you're spawn trapping. Which I'm all for. Hate spawn trappers.
      However it is very op at the moment. Especially with no counter to it. Id have done it so it only worked within a set distance. Or through one wall or floor etc

Movement in cod now is way too fast for spawns to keep up with and I routinely have that one movement demon flanker on the other team constantly running around me and killing me from behind seconds after I spawn or catching me off guard cause I'm not expecting a gunfight 1 nanosecond after spawning in. This kind of thing wouldn't be a problem if you didn't spawn directly near an enemy, which rarely happened in old cods

      @@theweekndxo7438 Honestly, this ability could be base kit in the game and I wouldn't care. It would force people to slow down instead of rushing across the map and flipping spawns constantly. It literally takes only one G-fuelled sweat to ruin the game for their entire team. Next time you're mad at the spawns pay attention to your team. There's always a guy going like 24-27 who never stops rushing, causing the spawns to constantly flip.
      Recon protects me from this. It's the only reason I almost never go negative in this game.

    Don't think it'd a problem at all. The illuminated enemies are really hard to actually focus at to shoot and stops people being total rodents around yoir spawn. Great perk I think. Doesn't bother me when people kill me with it.

    I would like to keep high alert and get the harp. I like using recon and it's really affective with a TAC insertion. The biggest issue I see with it is when you respawn and there is an enemy close to you, it's hard to get the kill because the trail is always off a little and the visual removes your ability to see them only their trail.

    Absolutely astounding decision to put this in the game. The blue perks by themselves are already the best class of perks in the game there’s no need for an extra bonus to them. I would abuse the hell out of this if the game would let me play without packet burst and latency turning it into stop motion animation

    I’ll probably be in the minority in this but I prefer your first solution. It was one of the "selling points" in the multiplayer reveal and removing it completely seems meh. I prefer a nerf more than a complete removal.

    Considering how Black Ops 6 multiplayer is going to be, I don't mind this perk since it's basically a counter against movement Kings. I mean, if you're going to have people literally diving, sliding, and basically hitting corners like they're going for a league shot, at least the game can do is give us a general idea of where they're going to be, so we can possibly shoot them before they just completely murder us.

      @@MISTAKEWASMADE4live I'll give you an example on Face Off on the map Stakeout, if you have 5 seconds of knowing where an enemy is that gives you more than enough time to camp around a corner and wait for a player to pass by or set a trap knowing they're around that corner. so to answer your question there's a lot you can do in five seconds. Remove the wall hack.

    TL;DR mad pro is upset that a crutch perk exists. Because in case I need to remind everyone: You only have a small amount of perks you are allowed to select if you want the recon perk, and while you can give yourself another perk via wildcard, in doing so you give something substantial up (Overkill, the ability to put 3 more attachments on your primary, etc)

    Leveling my snipers, this recon specialty has been a god send. Acquiring information through this specialty , controlling what information you send out (through the blue perks), and having a silencer equipped feels good to use. I don't know if it's allowed me to get more points in domination compared to the green specialty. I haven't used the red specialty so I don't know if red specialty gets more kills than blue specialty though.
    I think it's fine, but the duration of the wall hack could be reduced by half a second to a second.

    I think it’s worth mentioning that the wall hacks as it currently stands IS in-fact overpowered on the larger maps as well IF you are playing free-for-all considering that spawns are all over the place and by all metrics, the mp maps are still small maps. I can’t even play FFA without using it because everyone has an advantage on me. I’m getting pre aimed by people who just spawned. What’s even worse about this is that I just prestiged and therefore I do not have the ability to use that combat specialty because I do not have 3 blue perks unlocked yet. It needs to be completely removed and I’m ok with it being changed to VERY brief harp icons on spawn.

    me using ghost ninja and flanking way around the map just to have my teammate kill somebody and they wallhack me, turn around and freely shoot me while i'm still visible through walls
    this got past testing. they accepted this.
    they literally don't want you doing anything other than slide canceling dive adsing spraying your SMG/AR towards the middle of the map and nothing else

    The three perks I use happen to be blue and I get this and I don't even like having the ability to see through walls. I find it distracting, personally. The high alert bit is just a neat bonus. I would actually prefer it if they removed the walling bit.

    It just needs some adjustment, specifically the adjustment where the user only gets a snapshot. It's a good teaching tool for how the spawns work since they often catch people at their spawn. Without it, I probably would have stopped playing the game.
    I think they should make a rock paper scissors type of thing. Blue beats green because blue is undetectable to util. Green beats red because red doesn't have access to the util that green does. Red beats blue because red is at its best in a straight up gunfight.

    I actually use this special ability to avoid being spawnkilled and spawn trapped on bigger maps, but hadnt used it yet on a smaller map. There were a few times where I felt that it was a bit broken, but to be honest I was using it as a crutch to save me from bad spawns where an enemy is looking at me or right around the corner from me as soon as I spawn. I could see this being an earnable ability, where you trigger it automatically after a certain amount of score, and also as an additional utility during uav sweeps.I wouldnt be mad at all though if treyarch went back to the drawing board entirely on this one I do agree it is on the edge at least of being an inherently broken ability. It also shouldnt last 2 seconds, maybe 1-1.5 .

    the mini harp idea is cool an all until you remember we spent years fighting to get the mini map red dots back just for most people to never look at a mini map and typically cry "HaCkEr" the second they die to someone using their mini map info effectively. The casual players wont like that one very much unfortunately as they'll likely feel they don't have any benefits at all.

    I think the Recon Specialty should be reworked as follows: The Cold Blooded perk should counter the High Alert aspect of the Recon Specialty, the "wall hack" on respawn part of the ability should have a shorter range (somewhere between 10m and 20m) and should be able to be countered by Ghost, and finally they should add the Bird's Eye perk from MWII where the mini map is zoomed out and during that brief "wall hack" period after respawn you get a radar ping on your mini map that isn't able to be countered by Ghost.

    I think a simple ping thru walls would be more than enough. Have it pop up on your screen and mini map as the normal red dots. And maybe flip which perks counter each ability cuz that might make ghost more of a crutch than it already is. But that isn't nearly as important as reworking the wall hack.

    Treyarch very well may have intentionally made the design decision that the perk Specialist bonuses would'nt have any direct counter perk options simply due to the nature in which they're acquired. I.E you must 1. Sacrifice the flexibility and well rounded class setups that can be created by using various perks from multiple perk tiers. And 2. Not having a direct perk counter with the mindset that by choosing to use only perks from One specific tier you're essentially dedicating &doubling down on a certain playstyle, not to mention doing so also comes with it's own limitations by only having one type of perk tier.

    I think we can all agree that joining a game and being thrown into a spawnkill cycle is the opposite of fun.
    When we could loop out scorestreaks and trap the other side into such beautiful controlled death then it was worse.
    The wallhack makes that harder and removal of looping scorestreaks also directly effects how often that situation occurs.
    I am not supporting the wallhack perk bonus. I've played CoD for decades now and this actually has an impact, at least from my experience. I don't like it when I'm attacking but use it myself like a crutch when I join a game and it's a game where half the team has already left due to being owned. Selfishly, I'd say limit it to like 15 meters and if your team is losing. Don't get it if you're on the leading side.

    Replace the wall hack ability with something like a 5 second personal UAV that is countered by Ghost and add a lethal equipment delay. The maps are big enough that a personal UAV would require the player to open the map to view everyone's position while also allowing it to be countered and prevents spamming nades cross map on respawn. And because it only lasts 5 seconds, you get only one ping sweep so its basically just a snapshot in time of everyone's position but requires the player to do something. To give the specialty some strength back, the high alert ability could stay uncountered. Would also give balance to other specialties since basically no one is running them given how powerful Recon is.

    I called this being an issue back in the beta. I think there should be "death streaks" like the old days and the wall hack part should be a death streak. Simple way to keep it but balanced still
