    It’s so bizarre they make the camo grind all about landing headshots but give hardly any gameplay incentive for aiming for the head.

      I found the camo grind to be easier in Core this year.
      In Hardcore I’m so focused on lining up the headshot that I end up missing out on kills because the enemy just has to tap me anywhere on the body and I’m dead.
      Unless it’s a map like Stakeout, then headshots are easy in Hardcore. But the map rotation is so damn stingy with that map. It’d be nice if they brought back Stakeout 24/7

      @@TheRabidDeer Nope, there are quite a few guns that require 2 shots to kill to the head at certain ranges. Ace has covered a number of these in his gun guides.

    One downside: I've died many times because I stopped shooting after landing 2-3 headshots. Just so trained at this point that was a "kill" that I need to re-train my brain on that feature....

      It shouldn't be a feature because if you know in every sense that you got the kill and it doesn't happen, it's the games problem and that shit needs to be fixed. It's utterly pathetic if they get away with this. That's why I despise patching a game based on so called "Pro Players" is the dumbest thing in the world and utterly destroys games in the long run, it's one of the main reasons Overwatch failed spectacularly about halfway into it's life cycle. Too much comp focus utterly changing the whole design philosophy of games has sucked the life of many games I enjoyed.

      I have the same problem, I switched to hardcore around the new MW era. The only time I play core is for the party modes like zombies, gun game, or prop hunt

    CHF barrel needs to have it's downsides removed imo, the multiplier increase isn't worth harming recoil

      Increase the multiplier for headshot damage, keep the recoil penalty and add an idle sway penalty so holding a headglitch isn't strong but snapping to the head is rewarded

If they'd just make it do what it's supposed to do, we wouldn't need this video fr. Ace could have used his time on something better than having to explain why the devs are making headshots useless.

      I think that Treyarch doesn't want the effectiveness of the CHF barrel to stack with the rapid fire so they have introduced the recoil penalty for the CHF barrel, but the change in a lower general headshot multiplier comes later in the balancing.

      That or make the multipliers stronger so the recoil and range penalities are actually justified. Imo, it's fine that the base guns have weak headshot multipliers, but equipping the CHF barrel should make headshots significantly more effective. Like, only needing one or two headshots to connect to reduce shots to kill on the majority of guns.

    Ngl, the gunfights in BO6 is hella random and most of the time it feels like a coin-toss, sometime it gives me kill and sometime I just shoot marshmallow at enemies and they kill me.
    And this Headshot multiplier things makes it even worse cause you feel like you should get a kill after hitting someone with 2 Headshots yet you end up in the losing end.
    Off-topic but anyone else having tough time noticing enemies?
    Don't know what's the problem for me but sometimes some of the operators blends in so perfectly that it's tough to tell exactly where I got shot from. And because of supine prone, proned enemies are even tougher for me to notice, especially in Hardcare.

      I watched a short last night for bo6 and it literally showed enemies materialising after they got a kill with a bundle weapon. For example, the Blackcell weapons make people explode, if an enemy makes a teammate explode, that enemy becomes literally invisible for a around 2 seconds to the other guys. It's fucked

      i'm definitely also having issues registering players and sometimes I'll be on a kill streak and out of nowhere there's an enemy right in front of me that caps me on the spot. i'm unsure if it's due to something in game or if my vision just sucks- but it hasn't always been like this.

    Just remove the recoil penalty on the CHR barrel. High Caliber in old CODs didn’t have a recoil penalty and gave you 30-40% more headshot damage instead of the CHF 10-15% increase.
    And why do we balance so much crap around the “competitive” scene? These “pros” ban half the guns and attachments anyway.

      Treyarch has historically been the competition-friendly studio for CoD--they put more emphasis on balance and are willing to trade in accessibility and casual fun in order to have a happier hardcore and competition scene.

      @@HowManyToasters To be fair, I never said to increase the headshot damage. If we left the CHF where it is more guns would still take 2-3 headshots even with the barrel to help.
      In that case, I think a recoil penalty is overkill, unless they further increase the headshot damage in which case there should be a slight recoil and/or flinch penalty.

      I also feel like many of the automatic weapons in BO6 have pretty low initial recoil by default for hitting consecutive shots on an adjacent body part, so like if you're aiming and firing at the head first and you're likely to hit the head multiple times at close to medium range before the recoil kicks in. Probably another reason for them to target a general low headshot multiplier.

    For those who don't know, the Australian/OCE servers have not been working properly for almost a week. Specifically, it seems that there is massive server congestion, meaning >90% of games are offloaded on to Asian servers, resulting in 150ms+ ping matches. This is an issue that is affecting EVERYONE in the region; just sort the subreddit by new. Treyarch have been completely silent for this for a week. A video about this topic would go a long way toward resolving the issue.

      This also affects us on the Singapore servers as we get so clamped down by the lag compensation that tries to accommodate / adjust players who should be on Aussi servers that it also is practically unplayable for me as well when I have such players in the lobby.
      Could this also be 'deliberate', as it feels there are so few players are actually playing the game so they are desperately trying to fill lobbies?

      Flinch is probably necessary on snipers but is just annoying on every other gun. Obviously if flinch is removed on all guns except snipers then that's a massive nerf to snipers so they would probably need a buff to their ads time and then that would probably just make the game more fun for everyone.

      I think they have flinch balanced very well right now. No flinch at all would make snipers be incredibly overpowered. And if they only gave snipers flinch they’d be underpowered because it would make them feel so much worse than everything else in the game

      Every gameplay developer decision in CoD nowadays is about about helping little Timmy Nothumbs to have a less horrifying experience. Just look at how they absolutely ruined the snipers to prevent quickscopers from going toe to toe with the full-auto sprayers. What a joke this franchise has become.

Pro players can aim for the head just fine, it's just that in B06 they seemingly don't like it that only one(?) rifle benefits from the headshot multiplier, which is also so easily activated by the flinch. The professionals want consistency, hence the always-returning Gentlemen's Agreement to avoid outliers that skews the match unfairly. Previous CoD titles handled headshots better.

      It's EOMM not desync. Pay attention to the players that do this. Normally they go negative by the end of the game. It's the game's cheap way of balancing the lobby by giving the noobs free kills against the skilled players. Happens all the time

      BO6 is my first cod game in many years. I grew up playing COD starting with the original and played each game up until Ghosts came out.
      Shitty net code and packet loss in multi-player is nothing new. This is how all cod games have always been. Gotta have proper expectations with these games in order to have fun.
      The game is designed and made to be played as a casual arcade shooter, this game has never been oriented towards being a balanced competitive game.

      Probably because there are only some guns have the high caliber (or even high caliber II), and only some guns have the rapid fire as well (there are one or two gun exceptions iirc).

      I know COD isn't exactly realistic, but having 4 shots to the head for a kill just feels mega arcade
      On a side note, if you want to grind headshots quicker play hardcore

    This "competitive scene" argument is *so weak*.
    OG MW2 had a 1.4x headshot multiplier that still felt weak, when compared to other shooters like battlefield 3 and its 2x multiplier. Going for headshots is supposed to reward you, since it requires higher skill.
    In my actual opinion? This is due to omnimovement, mostly sliding. Sliding moves your model and puts your head right where your center of mass usually is when standing. Players who are used to aim there will get unintentional headshots on enemies who are sliding. So, in an effort to make headshots less punishing to those using sliding/omnimovement, they nerf headshots.

It's very common for above average players to have to carry a team full of Timmys... & if the Timmys are on the other team, they get extra bullet damage against the good players and take like half a mag to kill. Oh uh I mean "desync"...

    I find the combination of average to bad headshot multipliers, the new omni movement system, and the worthlessness of the CHF barrel all make a bad game design slog to slow down your dark matter progress. There's no way this was done unintentionally.

      Well, it is from the same dev team who made an SMG with the special ability of having increased headshot multiplier in exchange for slow RoF and slow projectiles, and then still gave it a damage and headshot multiplier that didn't change the shots-to-kill at all so you were left with a low-DPS gun with 0 upsides.
      Nevermind playtesting, they don't even do the most basic of maths when balancing.

    im a KB/M player and in this game it seems like the best way to alleviate the annoying camo grind is to just play hardcore. for the vast majority of guns its just a single tap to the head as opposed to having to track their head through recoil and flinch

    I agree that some if not a majority of the reasons for weak headshots is pro play. Treyarch has typically been the most in tune with the cwl/cdl of the different teams. The problem with that though, (and I say this as someone who loves competitive cod) is that most of the pros are 1: heavily biased 2: very rarely objective in their criticisms and 3: are currently in a weird identity crisis where there HAS to be two Submachine guns per team and there HAS to be very specific stats on the AR

    The only reason for useless headshot is to slown down the community on the camo grind and help player retention on the long run, that's it. Activision only cares about the data, they don't care about how it impacts the gameplay.

      @@alexmason5521 I'm all about thinking critically and I 100% agree with Ace reasoning regarding why Treyarch would make these choices for the headshot and what they should do to improve them. But when you know Activision is behind all the decisions made for the game, how they usually operate and how important player retention is for their shareholders, this is the best reason business wise on why they nerfed the headshots like that.
      Maybe in February/march, they will do something for the headshots when they see in their data that the community is well advanced in the camo grind

    I like what Cold War did to the flinch to mitigate the "luck" with headshot with eliminating real flinch (no movement in point of aim and only being a visual effect) in that scenario, if you want to get into heatshots, only your aiming and recoil control will judge the outcome of that gunfight, also it will aliviate the headglitching even more

    Here's my fix for this. I don't think they need to increase headshot damage in general just make the chf barrel better this way, people who actually have good aim and want to be rewarded for it. Throw the barrel on and it makes it worth it. And the others don't have to use it, and they can just play normal, but it shouldn't be so overpowered that when someone's using it you cant kill them hardly at all ya know

    One thing that gets missed in the discussions is that unlike the high caliber attachment from previous games, there’s an higher opportunity cost for CHF since it’s an attachment primarily competing against the long barrel which offers a far more consistent and important benefit in gunfights.

    I am a sniper user and I've gotten at least 10 Headshot hitmarkers with the LR 7.62. Granted they were wallbangs but I even had fmj on a few of those occasions and it was through like Nuketown garage door. Dude a sniper headshot should never be a warning shot

    As a member of the competitive scene, it feels like we've been ignored more than ever. The competitive maps & modes are a mess; Ranked is at its worst, most of the issues being incredibly simple fixes.
    Weak headshots are nice, but I doubt comp is the reason they exist. No flinch would be prefered.

      @@warwolf715 The real problem is flinch, which raises the receiver's point of aim, which results in accidental headshots.
      You can aim for the knee, but because your opponent hits shots into you, you end up getting a headshot. I'm sure you can understand how that's a problem if headshots are strong. Your opponent is punished for hitting shots into you.

    It is such an odd design choice. Headglitching being so strong has always been a problem with CoD, and the only downside to holding those angles was if you got hit you died fast. With headshot damage gone, it makes it so hard to contest these angles. Their intent may have been to make TTK more consistent, but this wasn't the way to do it.

    I hated the MCW’s 1 headshot reduction to TTK last year, even though it made sense for balance in public matches. That said, I would’ve been fine with 3 out of 4 headshots reducing ttk, and 2 with an attachment. This requiring all headshots, or them not mattering at all is a definite L for me, even as a sweaty ranked player. My personal preference would probably be all but 1 headshot as a default, and all but 2 with the attachment, with potentially different or less punitive downsides.

      they don't widen the skill gap at all, they do the opposite. lower damage headshots make it easier to deal max ttk for both parties and reduce inconsistency leading to an advantage to the better player who will more than likely shoot first. it's less likely for the better player to shoot first and die because the other guy hit a lucky flinch headshot

    The chf barrel is literally useless on all weapons except Tsarkov. Max health is 100. If you put the chf on the Tanto smg, its headshot damage from one bullet is above 50... but it still remains a 3 shot kill weapon even in point black range. So even when MATH says yes, Treyarch says no!

    the CHF barrel could also do what similar barrels did in vanguard: substantially reduce bodyshot damage, substantially improve headshot damage. Hit two headshots in a row or you get a poor TTK, for example.

    The head glitching/headshots not counting problem also adds to the numerous spawn issues & how easy it is to spawn trap whole lobbies. It’s almost impossible to break out of certain map spawns because an entire team will just sit & head glitch into the spawns & those getting spawn trapped have virtually no counter to that

    This might go against a lot of people but I’m fine with headshots being weak. And this is because I think the vast majority of headshots ever hit in call of duty have been complete accidents. For good or bad players, the natural instinct is to aim for center mass and this is overall the right choice. Flinch/recoil/just “accidentally” aiming at the head has probably caused way more headshots than deliberately aiming at the head.
    I think the CHF barrel needs a buff tho. Making the choice to use this attachment and making headshots a purposeful part of your play style is a completely different situation.

    In my opinion, I think I am fine with headshots being much less useful in the maximum damage range. In those cases, you have movement to help you outplay other players, plus it prevents those luck flinch headshots from reducing the ttk too much.
    However, in further damage ranges, where you might be fighting someone who is headglitching, these are the scenarios where I think headshots should be helping you. At further ranges, movement becomes much less of an impact on those gunfights as even if you do a quick slide, it is still only a small amount to move your aim to trace the enemy. Plus, when fighting at further ranges, the flinch will likely move you off target more often, as the enemy is a smaller target anyways. So at these further ranges, you should be able to reduce your shots required against a headglitching opponent as a method of countering the headglitch and rewarding accuracy.
    I do think in this case the damage ranges of the ARs would likely need to be adjusted with this philosophy, because as it stands with only 2 ranges in most cases, the minimum damage range is just too far for this change to really be reasonable for most gun-fights. We might need a middle damage range where we see this impacted more.
    I think for me personally, this is a good balance because of many reasons:
    - You don't have potential crazy fast ttk up close and it remains consistent even with omni-movement
    - Skill is still rewarded as movement is an option up close.
    - Headshots are still useful
    - It gives a strong option of countering headglitches
    - Up close movement is rewarded, further away better accuracy is rewarded, so different playstyles get rewarded in different ways and if someone is an all-around player, they have the ability to prove that at different ranges.
    With all of that said, the CHF barrel is a whole other balancing challenge. I agree that it should typically be making headshots a lot stronger than it does now, because it is generally not worth running.

    Previous COD games didn't penalize the headshot attachments nearly as hard, and the benefit was greater. I want the CHF buffed but I'm not sure what the solution would be to keep it from being the de-facto barrel given that every attachment this year is purely bonus, but maybe penalizing range and bullet velocity instead of recoil to make it a direct sacrifice vs. the other barrels that improve it.

    I don’t think that low headshot damage is a bad thing. If we are all honest headshots kills come from luck in a gunfight unless you have your crosshairs super high and going for headshots. Good players aim for the body and land their shots. Dying to someone who got a lucky headshot on you is dumb and lowers the skill gap. Having to hit your shots on target and not get lucky is better for the game. 2:00

      Fair take I think it should be increased to reward the people with the skill to actually hit the headshots it’s abit inconsistent that I shoot someone in the head and it does the same damage as if i shoot their toes and the barrel that increases the headshot damage is terrible because of the lack of recoil control it creates that’s just my take tho

      You HAVE to be a bot, i can't fathom that someone would suggest headshots aren't a skilled approach. Play literally any other game like idk, counter strike, where you're a bad play for aiming body. M4 is 2 headshots, 4 body. It just sucks if you're bad and can't land headshots lol

      @@warwolf715 that’s not how cod is played tho. With the fast paced action you don’t have time to aim for the head. And games like CSGO and Valorant are diffrent games compared to cod. If you aim for the head every gun fight your ultimately going to lose to the guy aiming for the chest and hitting his shots.

    As a potential for the chf barrel, if you buff the headshot damage maybe add in extra flinch so you're less likely to hit that lucky headshot

    I just got this game yesterday and now I see why it feels so off to go for headshots and why it feels like I kill enemies just as fast with leg shots as I do with headshots.
    My first CoD since Ghosts so I have a lot of catch up on haha

    With the SVD I often had that weird thing that I landed a one shot kill to the chest (even in slowmo you could clearly see that it was to the chest), then i flinched from getting shot and then it counted as a headshot. I can't explain what happened

    it hurts the most on mnk tbh, ive been playing cod for decades now on pc and have been going primarily for headshots in every title and its hard to break that habit
    i think reducing flinch/kick on automatic weapons specifically would make more sense along with increasing the headshot multiplier to 1.3x across the board

    So the thing I found with the ranger foregrip (ads focus) it was a lot easier for me to get headshots. I got 8 headshot kills last night with CHF, recoil springs and the focused ads.

    My solution to this problem:
    Make a separate damage zone for the head where only shooting the center point of the head will 1-shot kill. Hitting the very corner of the head will act more like a “graze” rather than deal significant damage.

    Wanted to say thanks for the Audio video earlier. I would never have thought turning off enhanced is better! I absolutely hear better direction turning it off. Makes no sense. I’m on ps5 pro using inzone Sony earbuds.

    I completely agree, like you mentioned yourself, legitimate balance reasons aside, at the end of the day, it simply FEELS wrong and unsatisfying.
    Btw, I would love to see a video on the Enforcer perk tree and how unsatisfying it feels compared to the other two, especially in tier 1. Alternatively, a video on the state of perks in general would be great!

    I think the lack of a huge headshot damage increase balances the game. Cheaters don't have a huge advantage and lower skill players have a chance against high skill players.

    They should just made flinch go in a random direction so it's not usually going to help you hit a headshot (or even upperbody). Make the flinch less intense overall but it could go left, right, up, down, or a mix in between

    I was crying just trying to do the Goblin's 100 headshots. I camped at either kitchens on stakeout with the CHF barrel for half of the kills, and the effective range for the goblin's headshot multiplier to be any bit of meaningful was just out of range. It was absolute hell trying to do it, and when I finally finished it, I have never felt at more peace to n00btube for the two challenges. The goblin sucks so much ass. Maybe fixing the headshot multiplier would improve quite a bit of the gun.

    I think that many of the automatic weapons in BO6 also have pretty low initial recoil by default for hitting consecutive shots on an adjacent body part, so like if you're aiming and firing at the head first and you're likely to hit the head multiple times at close to medium range before the recoil kicks in. Probably another reason for them to target a general low headshot multiplier.

    Also the hit box for head shots is very inconsistent like sometimes they don't count unless it's to the upper head so if you shoot in the jaw it won't count as a headshot don't know if anyone else has seen this problem but it's as though you have to shoot specifically in the upper head for kills to register as a headshot sometimes

    I agree it feels weird that headshots don’t improve TTK, but I do enjoy that it places more importance on positioning and reduces the luck of flinching into a headshot. Maybe a way to reward a headshot kill is a bonus to score streaks?

    Anyone else kinda miss the tactical mode from infinite warfare? Health values weren’t changed at all but the headshots from weapons were hyper lethal. Really rewarded good aim

    I think instead of reducing accuracy, the CHF barrel should reduce mobility. Reduce sprint to fire, slide to fire, dive to fire, and ADS speed for a meaningful increase in headshot damage.

    I just got BO6 after they put the cross gen bundle on sale and instantly noticed how headshots were so weak. I made the personal decision to grind camos on hardcore. That's usually what ive done with weaker gun classes in the past anyways.

    I've been grinding headshots on and off in MP because I'm spending most of my time going for the zombies camos lately, and man.... It is so frustrating having situations where I get a body hit marker and two headshot hit markers and still don't kill the guy, let alone get a headshot kill to progress the challenge. Hardcore it is, I guess.

    They overcompensated, the only problem with headshots in the previous game was essentially the mcw with its 1 headshot to change ttk, just the mcw.

    Biggest benefits I saw from chf barrell or rapid fire was the added recoil. Think you touched on it but it's helped my luck with headshots due to bounce. Strange way to do it but it worked for me

    I think the ttk consistency is great! Plus it counters those times where you shoot first and die due to the enemy’s flinch causing them to headshot you! I think 2-3 headshots giving one less to kill is a great spot

    I do agree that with the omnimovement having the more consistent time to kill is nice, along with the fact that headshots seem to often come from accident more than intent. Even as a slightly above average player (1.7-2kd) I find most of the time my headshots aren't purposeful, I am just trying to hit center mass chest area and attempting to control the guns recoil gives me a free headshot. I do agree with the point of the camo grind being headshots when they aren't meaningful is dumb. I wouldn't mind seeing the CHF barrel improved to where in most scenarios in max damage range with an SMG or AR you only need to hit 1 headshot in the max damage range to improve TTK, but in no situation should it reduce your shots to kill by 2.

    I've personally stopped grinding for camos this year and probably won't go after it again.
    I did it for the last 3 or 4 years and got high ranked, and all that fun stuff. But it just became an addiction and not fun. So I've stopped all camo grinds from this year on, and I no longer spend money

    SMGs not having headshot potential by default actually makes sense. But everything else? It's a bit harsh. I get the idea but it's not without notable flaws.

      My opinion;
      Keep SMG headshot damage the same, increase AR headshot back to 1.5-2x dmg. There, fixed, now I can counter those annoying SAUG players with a headshot lol
