Eli Wu's Impulse (A Custom AEG Smart Blaster)

- While down in San Diego a few weekends ago, I met up with my buddy Eli Wu to play at some SDNC games, and to take a look at his latest builds. Enter Impulse: Eli's own Automatic Electronic Blaster (AEG/AEB). This beast is custom-built from the ground up, with CNC'd aluminum and 3D-printed parts.
The nerf hobby hasn't had very many AEGs, with the Stampede and the SwarmFire being the only times the mothership tried out the concept. However, with the QWK Challenger Mk3 and the Colonel Wasp 76 coming from overseas, and Impulse in Eli's loadout, this category is seeing somewhat of a resurgence. I'm really excited for the future, and I can't wait to see what comes out next.
As stated in the video. The amount of time, effort, and money involved for Eli to make this blaster means that Impulse isn't for sale, nor is it ever likely to be.

Luke's face when Eli said OOD was fantastic. That blaster is AMAZING. The recoil must be fun to have.
Haha, I thought the same.
Not gonna be thinking so when it nails you in the leg
This blaster is proof that AEBs are viable competitive blasters, with accuracy of a springer, and firerate of a flywheeler.
Had the privilege of firing a few shots from this at a recent war up in LA. It is an absolute monster. Shoots hard, fast and accurate. I was expecting the kick but it still surprised me.
Are they planning on releasing this blaster?
@@mitchhifi9192 Definitely not. It's highly custom.
Hasbro: behold our new blaster- we have reshelled the Stryfe for the thousandth time!
Eli Wu: hold my engineering degree...
What a beast of a blaster! Hat’s off to Woo for having the skill to make this a reality. Much respect :-)
the love into the hobby that he had poured into the blaster is nothing short of amazing. hat's off to Eli for this! (I watched an older feature of him in Luke's channel. He had progressed really, really well!)
I've been waiting for this masterpiece since his sneak peeks of his AEG Caliburn. It looks sick!
That's absolutly beautiful, I can't imagine the work that went into making this. I would love to see these for sale.
Too bad unfortunately
All projected built models taken
if you want an aeg without the crazy amount of work to do a custom one monkee mods has a decent one that Im sure can be worked on an upgraded too
I know the focus is the blaster, but the idea of using a built in clamp to secure the bcar to the barrel is something I immediately loved, hoping we see more like that.
We really need a community injection molding solution. It would be amazing to see things like these in the market
I think that's not far away. Luke has an injection molding machine AND does licensing, and he's not the only one! Let's just say if a blaster should be exciting enough, there would be no problem in injection molding community design thing!
The Challenger is pretty close
12:14: "It's sort of like an answer to the question 'Can I actually do something like this?' It turns out the answer is 'yes'." - That's exactly what I love most about this hobby. Every design is an adventure into the unknown, pushing the limits of what is possible. Nice stuff!
Wow I'm just speechless All I know is I want this! The haptic feedback alone makes this very attractive for me!
Lmao you left the part where Jared hit me in the face 🤣🤣🤣 glad to have you with us, come back soon
This has gotta be one of the most tacticool blasters ever made
Super happy to finally see a full video on this blaster! I was expecting one on Eli's channel, but hey, whatever works!
Its a relief to know he doesn't plan to release the files for it. Seeing these even rarely in the wild would make it lose its charm. Like if you watched Firefly and suddenly everybody was using Vera.
This blaster is simply amasing. Eli Wu is a huge inspiration for all nerfers. i bow in respect.
Dude is straight beast. Mad respect. Go Eli!!! Can’t wait for the next video!
I love this, thank you for showing this off Luke! this combines all my favorite hobbies real steel guns, airsoft, and foam flinging
Thank you so much for showing us this AMAZING blaster (5 yrs. In the making) ... alot of Heart & Soul went into it's creation...much Appreciated.
I can't wait to see more AEGs. The stampede is my favorite blaster, but the biggest gripe is the performance cap. There's only so much you can squeeze out of that shell. Mortality did an amazing job with his designs and mods to the stampede, if you were curious how far you could take one.
Looking forward to the future, amazing blaster and video guys!
Had the pleasure of playing with Eli a few months ago and seeing this blaster in person!
This is amazing. It's late so I thought I would be skimming this video and watched every second!
What a super super super awesome blaster! I liked how it is all closed-loop and the blaster knows exactly what is happening within it, very useful. I also think the acronym AEG should be changed to AEB for the Nerf hobby, might make them seem a little less airsofty. Thanks so much for making this video Luke, very nice to see! 💜
I LOVE electric springers and i wish i had one of these. Nice work eli this thing is super cool.
OMG! That is so DOPE. I just got Monkee Mods Colonel wasp 76 which is basically a MP-40 style AEG and I love it. AEG is definitely the future of foam flinging.
I found you through Eli's Brushless Rayven (forgot the name). This is really cool to see how far he has come in the past few years, and interesting to see how your video and editing style have evolved. Fantastic video, 10/10
Absolutely wild, been waiting to see a walkthrough of this blaster for years now. SO COOL. I really hope that we eventually see a version of this idea for sale at some point! Maybe not quite as ridiculously tuned though ;)
Koolest Dart Blaster I have ever seen....it shoots so FAST , Eli you da' MAN .....
I've seen a few of these AEG's coming out of the oriental countries. When your a manufacturing giant access to CNC etc is easy, with so many people skilled in designing and manufacturing new or tweaked blasters. Need more grown-up blasters in your sport.ThankQ. TkEZ>UK
That is way more recoil than a .22
I love it and I want one so bad.
What a marvelous monster this thing is! Awesome work! *drool*
never thought id see a UH1 on a nerf gun before lmfaoo sick
Amazing engineering!
I am not afraid of modified blasters... but that thing.... it scares me. I don't even go on the field when Eli comes to LUNC events
I have to play against this every war can confirm it is sick
Lol
SDNC right? I have to play against Derrick or Heath at most events lol
Heavy and as loud as real steel nearly - so much for springer stealth 😉
this is the coolest thing ive ever seen in my life
I would love to see the plans/wiring/control schematic for this. Amazing work
SDNC represent. Eli the goat
I got to see his super prototype versions of it. It was so sick.
Good stuff incredibly impressive
OMG ITS SO PRETTY!
This hobby needs more aegs
It's a CLEAR advantage
Very stylish and smart. Great work! I kind of wish I could make one myself, but at the same time I don’t because of the apprehension I feel being so close to real steel. So conflicted. Lol
If this a “drop” loot weapon, it would be flavor red like borderlands. Unique and rare.
Truly fantastic job on engineering this '1-of' blaster.
I would expect that when airsoft manufacturers ever do get around adapting an air soft chassis for firing a half dart, they're going to be in the $650.00 and above range. However, I think the main hold up is that being on receiving end of a dart within 30' traveling at 300fps is indistinguishable from a paintball, and for me personally is more target practice or maybe 'zip-code-tag.'
I've got a couple blasters that hit above 275fps and they're like target practice/home-defense. 😎🤠😇🤓
I would to see AEG/AEB blaster make their presence known.
that blaster is beeeeeautiful
BEAUTIFUL
A foam flinging MDR? Thats so awesome.
The future is now.
This is a thing of beauty
Isn't the vulcan also an AEG? :)
I would love to see blasters like this one in ~90fps range. The recoil and trigger response must be so great!
yep, the vulcan and the stampede are AEGs
You can put a flywheel cage on a vulcan to hit 90 fps
quite an intimidating sound on firing
FINALLY! I have been waiting for this reveal for a while! By the way, Luke, did Eli ever mention what happened to the Hex blaster he made?
This is sick
AMAZING!!!
Honestly that thing hurts I’ve been hit by it on the other side of the field it’s a monster
Would Eli be willing to sell plans or even high res images of all the parts?
Waiting for it to show up on the OOD product list.
Very cool.
I get that they arent for sale. Fully understand.
Will the plans be available to DIY?
3:41 lol 😂
ITS ELIIIIII
also... ELI FILMING?
Is he gaming?
ITS TAHOVA
@@Sillybutts hes always gaming
@@wongyewxuan3880 ya yeet! *swings out the SBL*
FINALLY!!!! IT IS OUT!
This is so siiiiick! 😁
Eli …EXPLAINING?! (IYKYK)
Fun fact: There is dead space between the chamber and the rifling of real steel weapons for the same reason as the BCAR in the Impulse. That is, if the bullet contacts the rifling too soon the friction of the case will cause it to jam. It's the reason you can fire a .223 rem bullet out of a 5.56 NATO barrel but can't do it the other way around.
Only in the case of real steel, the pressure build up will destroy your rifle and possibly cause grave injury.
I need to meet this guy
I'd love to learn how to build one of my own.
I can totally understand not wanting to build a lot of these, but would he ever release the files for it? A skilled builder could definitely build one of these themselves, but the electronic portion is very complicated with how many sensors it has. I could probably do it, but I would have a harder time printing the nylon parts than building the electronics. I assume he's using some sort of arduino controller?
I love this blaster, I want it 😆 🤣
thats bad ass!
San Diego nerf is not messing around!
I love this Blaster it's a shame that they will never be for sale that is the only one that there is
What was the other blaster that Luke did a video on featuring Eli?
AEG master race
this thing is faster than a Storm 2.0!
...... ..... . . . .. . ....I... WANT ....... IT! Lol awesome video
I want one!!! Just take my money!!!
Few ideas that came to mind in order to make a more precise roller-powered electric blaster (I am an elite fan):
1) use four rollers instead of two in a cross-shape configuration, you would be able to drive the dart straight without the need for a barrel, which wastes some of the dart's speed to straighten the trajectory.
2) Use gears on the rollers to ensure synchronization of the rollers, that would help to drive the dart straight (two motors aren't perfectly identical, they will have differences in inertia, weight distribution, friction on the axle, ,... resulting in not exactly the same speed in the two rollers)
3) use helix grooves on rollers to induce spin on the dart by pushing it with an angle instead of straightly with the usual roller
I hope that will inspire some people.
Thanks for the video
Can you manually charge the bolt? This is important for me. Literally no full auto dart launchers have a spring-resetting charging handle. I would buy one if it were possible.
Yes you can, that’s how his bolt action setting looks
yeah, thats what bolt action is. u can manually cock the challenger mk3 too
I have held and am on the list for one for it. You can manually charge the bolt, you can even set it on bolt mode so that after every shot you have to charge. Now doing it with the K14 inside though, well, you definitely have to full send
@@N1sm0NIC Just gotta pull it like you mean it
WANT. period
Oh... oh this is.... sexy? Can I say that about a foam blaster? Just... wow.
How does it hold up against the Challenger?
If only I could see the internals....
Ga damn👍👍👍👍👍
I want this so bad
Are there files? I don’t have a 3d printer but just want to know
i want to something like this but with a longstrike shell
3:39 LOL
Kojima started developing blasters?
I'm assuming that this is based of the tar 21 but this nerf gun is actually heavier than the gun i assume is based on and is still heavier than some rifles if this is not based of the tar 21 and is based on the mdr it is around the exact same weight
The aesthetics are first and foremost molded around the mechanics. Further inspiration was taken from the X95, MDR, NGSW (the bullpup one), and RFB.
Wow is this blaster available to the community already?
No, it's highly custom and was probably super expensive to create
@@andrewzhu5394 oh i see… thanks
I must get 1 of these ,how?
I understand the reason not too sell, but what about instructions to build??
YES PLEASEEE
How much for this beast
Crazy blaster! I copied your video to some Chinese video website, with your original link in the description. I hope it's OK with you and Eli, RUclips is blcked in China.
Being tagged by a 305 fps anything gotta be *painful* xD
11:35 My question is how to I build one.
what optic is that on top?
I think it's a Vortex AMG UH-1. Not sure if it's a clone or a real one.
@@ethansiew61 clone AMG UH-1. We rich but we ain't THAT rich (we ain't even rich at all LMAO)
It's so loud, definitely a private property use blaster.
