1. I love when you do videos benni! I love you both so much and it's so fun getting to know you better too! 2. I never would have thought to use oil paints for weathering! That's brilliant!
Lovely work! Nerf blasters are easy to disassemble (even easier if you don't want them to function afterwards!) so they can be broken down to smaller components if that makes painting simpler.
Ahhhhhhh I've been waiting for this vid to drop once I saw your before and after picture! Mass Effect is my favorite and I cannot wait to give this a go for my Mass Effect cosplay. Thank you for making this video! Time to hunt for supplies!
Nerf customized here. If you want to ensure operations after painting you should break down the gun and remove the internal mechanics first, then reassemble it for paining. You may also want to paint the slide separate from the main gun. If you apply a good layer of clear coat it should hold up well to use.
I finally got to show this to my husband, and we both found it very useful! Especially the shading. Thank you again. And thank you for the puppy cameo at the end, too!
Hi there. Benny you did a fabulous job. I love this channel. Since the convention I wanted to go to was cancelled I am looking for anything to divert my attention away from this virus. That paint job was off the chain. You have a unique touch when it comes to making it look real. Nice job. Please stay safe and give the puppies a hug for me. Love ya all. Take care and God bless.
I'm a simple person. I see Mass Effect I click. But yeah the paint job came out so good looking. Also I swear that looks like Volpin Prop's Valkyrie at 3:42. Prop makers helping Prop makers. Made me smile. But seriously if you guys ever made anything from this game trilogy I would freak out. :)
Even though I don't have an airbrush (still getting the hang of regular painting with acrylics) I learn so much from your painting videos! Thank you, and would love to see more of these ^_^
The sidestrike/talonstrike is a great blaster to paint. well done! 6:24 frogtape makes a difference there, the cheaper tape doesnt peel of nicely and it leaves gross marks. THAT LOOKS GREAT
That's what I love on this channel : I've painted figurines for a decade, but I'm too lazy to apply most techniques I've learned. And yet, here I find some new awesome techniques : 1) just put paint on your fingers, and "drybrush" your edges around! 2) shadow your hollows/cavities, and quickly finger-drybrush away the excess on edges! It's... it's genius. It's lazy, yet ultra efficient, precise, versatile and crafty. I love this channel.
This vid from 3 years ago has inspired me to grab some nerf guns and mod/paint them to look badass like this! You did an amazing job and cant wait to explore this channel further
I love this so much I could cry. Mass Effect is my favorite game series. If my daughter had been a boy we were going to name her Shepard. Loved it. You guys should build some N7 armor
Seriously badass, Benny! Good to see you are staying busy. And yes, I need to get busy painting some nerf guns. Got half a bazillion of them in a box waiting until I have some "free time." Unfortunately, I'm still considered "essential personnel" so I am still working.
I use Testor's model paints when repainting Nerf guns, and I've never had any problems getting the paint to stick. You'd be amazed at how nice Nerf blasters turn into weapons from Steampunk, post-apocalypse, space opera, and hard SF milieu when properly painted.
@@KamuiCosplay Since they come in small pots of only a couple of fluid ounces/milliliters, they may get a little expensive for larger projects, and I'm not sure how well they work with airbrushes (I use paintbrushes and a lot of patience -_^), but I believe they offer paints specifically made for airbrush use. You can order them directly from testors.com or you should be able to find them at any decent model or hobby shop. {giggle} Listen to me--I sound like a commercial! ^_^ Evil Ted Smith ruclips.net/channel/UCLTxoOYUpGKDSexgjTG1D1A swears by Tomiya paints, too--I've never used them myself, but he gets good results with them, so I'll have to try them myself once I get serious about cosplay. Anyway, I'm happy to share what little I know, and thank you and Svetlana for all the great videos so far! ^_^
@@koushiro86 Both. Since I paint with a brush, I have to apply two or three layers to hide my brush marks, but I've seen folks that use airbrushes get really good results in one or two coats depending on the color of the paint versus the color of the plastic. Since it's made for plastic models, Testor's enamels cling really well to the plastic used in Nerf blasters, though.
Ehrenvideo!!!! Props gehen raus an doch, der mich dazu inspiriert hat meine Nerf und meine Modelle (Trumpeter Stuka Ju87 B2) so anzumalen und habe mir sogar die gleiche Airbrush von Timbertech gekauft. Danke

Brilliant upload, good fun! Question - Will a Corgi (9:13) playing at my feet make my project turn out better? Or, will any cute puppy work? ;) Keep doing what you do!
From extensive RUclips research, I have concluded that having a cute pet around does help. It does not seem to make a difference if it is a dog or cat or bird, but apparently robots do not make useful pets (no matter how many times you sing "Build the Robots" by Dr. Steel.)
Nicely done sir, altough for me as a nerf modder functionality is key. I also paint all my blasters disassembled which is why it takes me so much longer 😂. But it was awesome to see a your techniques and style. And now i definitely need an airbrush. You sold me on that. Just what to get....🤔
@@KamuiCosplay yeah definitely. But i have to keep this one in mind for pure prop builds i make. But first of, lets sort out an airbrush. Any advice on what i need as a pure beginner in that area? I have nothing 😂
Sehr tolles Video und danke für die Tipps 🤗 Bin gerade dabei einen Mandolorian Helm zu drucken und den dann anschließend zu Airbrushen. Viele Grüße aus Bremen 👍🏻
I painted two of them. One in destiny style and one in borderlands (Hypirion) style. But the Borderlands gun is not 100% working anymore it has some issues with rotating the magazine. But it was awesome and I loved the work.
This paint-job came out awesome! BUT, not all of us have a compressor and spraygun, so I was thinking maybe you could make a video on spraying with cans from the hardware store.
Soo... many... airbrush paints... *drooling intensifies*
Haha I did the same
I watched him carefully explain his entire process, and yet I'm still convinced Benni is wizard.
Amazing paint work, Benni!
Thanks! That means a lot coming from you! ❤️
Your Vallejo selection is commendable. Makes me blush.

@@KamuiCosplay you mean lazy?
@@Omabatfartsbruh TIME-SAVING. 😒
I only got a day to do my Nerf gun up...can't afford to break it apart over several days. Glad I saw this route.
Benny is great! I'm so glad he's making more videos by himself. You guys are such a perfectly matched team for cosplay
I finally got to show this to my husband, and we both found it very useful! Especially the shading. Thank you again. And thank you for the puppy cameo at the end, too!
Prop suggestion: Make the animal crossing new horizons tools

Make the doom eternal weapons to accompany them

Such a shame it's not so functional after! Imagine rocking this thing in an actual nerf fight!!!

Yes! Please do this more often! I loved this.
Benni you are a treasure thanks for the video. It’ll definitely help when I start to work on my Borderlands cosplay
You could cosplay James Holden from The Expanse, ssssso well. But I digress. Awesome paint up! Got me quite inspired
Fantastic job on this! Looks incredible. You've got a great presenting style Benni.

Your cuts remind me so much of Monty Python. Fantastic.
This was awesome the finish was spot on.
More of your man, he's so charming

If you want the paint to stay even better you can sand the whole blaster and use a Vinyl dye on it
