originals tend to become the benchmark, covers are always compared with what they copy, but here there's a softness which the song deserves but the original fails to deliver. You nailed this one gals ! Thank you.
When Elton recorded this song many effects were used in vocals, guitars, keyboards, sync, you name it. It was never meant to be an acoustic endeavor. But here you see and HEAR ultra talent people ready and able to take it on with nothing but two dry acoustic guitars and two unassisted, and un-autotuned vocals! Folks, you are witnessing real young grassroots American talent here. Greg Guitars llc
Toni is an amazing guitar player! But I have to admit, I love it when she sings backing vocals. I feel that puts you all in the Simon & Garfunkel lane.
im 72 and a guitar player love seeing young people in music i have given away dozens of guitars to help people learn most young people cant put there phone down long enough to make there lives better
Just makes me smile. 1974 - 75, Estes Park, CO. Her name was Penny. They called her Rocket. I was the new kid in town. This was her jam. Thanks ladies.
not only the smiles and voices ... the colors ... the couch, shirts, guitars, hairs and skins together with the frames so elegantly blends ilove reina and toni
1:55 "In fact it's cold as hell...." What a great metaphor, written by one of the world's greatest song writers, covered by Reina and Toni, music's new present and bright future......shine on us in all these days of fake talent!
Elton only ever wrote the music; Bernie Taupin wrote the lyrics. Elton was still a session musician at that time, put an ad in a trade paper looking for a lyricist. Bernie answered, teamed up with Elton and the rest is history as the saying goes!
Finally some singers singing without that horrible tremolo but flat as it has to be, at least this kind of music. And very well harmonized. Thanks. Well done!
But some singers just naturally have a voice like that. It is called vibrato. I know because my voice has it and it's not as easy to control as one might think! ...❤❤❤❤...love these young women and their wonderful renditions of great songs.
This version helps... Understanding chords and harmony, blended with rhythmic choices are so beautifully presented. One thing many of us might enjoy is, at the end of your Sunday Morning videos, if you could give us a bit of background on why a particular song was chosen and why key and tempo choices were made. Your interpretations are as good as it gets. Thanks for sharing!
I would be really interested in the process you follow to provide us with these gems. How long in advance do you start working on a song? Do you each start separately and then bring to together? I'm curious.
A. Duncan An opposing view: let the music speak for them. Any discussion would be out of place. It would detract. When they are on the mountain top, why insist they come down to the valley?
Moose Music I‘m courious as well!!! Often when I hear them sing one of their beautiful interpretation of a song like this it leads me a way to try to sing and play it too. Just because they show me that it IS possible!
MERCI to share ...superb version It makes me so happy to hear an old and so beautiful when I was livin in London in the 74...Toni and Rosa you re superb ...keep on thanks ....
This song deserves to be played in a van whilst traveling Alaska. Where else might it better breathe and live? Perfectly performed. First take? Let’s say yes, for sure.
Again...just what I need on Sunday afternoon...a few beers, brilliant sun and two beautiful ladies with such a great skills and voice...I'm blessed. Thank you for sharing.

This song has has not yet been bumped from my desert Island disc. I wish more would cover it!, but darned glad the first version in a while was by this couple of great beings...Well done!
My god is this a beautiful song, and their voices top it off. This song was made almost 4 decades before my birth and his music still amazes me, what an amazing man that he currently is. Rocket Man is and always be one of my favorite songs and movies. These women made my day.
Toni brings the excitment and Reina brings something more laid-back. Original version from Elton is fantastic but this is absolutely brilliant and well-balanced (vocals, atmosphere, the joy it spreads, the guitars sound, and what a great chorus).
An Elton John Search brought me to your channel once. Today i find myself surrounded by friends, despite living thousands of miles away. Very real friends, nonetheless. Thank you for being you.
Dear Reina and Toni, I'm a big fan, I love your version of this song so I have copied the way Toni plays her part and I really enjoy the chord progression, my buddy will be playing Reina's part. Thankyou so much, please keep brining happiness to the world. peace and love from down under
As a guitar player for 40 years, my admiration of Toni’s skills goes without saying. Reinas beautiful voice makes this song fresh again. Keep up the great work girls. Love from Canada
You two ladies should stick together because you enhance each other so much. Toni plays wonderfully well and with great style, making it all look so easy, which it is not. Your voices are both excellent and blend so well. Thanks for posting your amazing songs and good luck in all you do. Keep smiling and DANCE while you can!!!
And I think it’s going to be a long long time before someone else can do justice to Elton John song rocket man the way you gals just did. Thank you so much for sharing 🙂
"AWESOME, AWESOME JOB!" ... 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 ... and that's how it's done y'all 👍👍😎 (... that's a hard song to play and sing to make it sound great... and you two COMPLETELY NAILED IT...) I have to ask this ... is there no end to y'all's talent ? No? Then the World is blessed 👍👍😎
Elton is always a challenge for us guitar players, because of his composition style. Good job you guy's! A beautiful arrangement! :) And huge kudos to Davey Johnstone for doing it for 48 years!!
It's not just because of his composition style. It's also because he's a piano player. And most of the best piano keys (Bb, F, Eb) are the worst keys for guitar.
It is SO nice to see and hear Toni get a more showcased moment to see her beautiful smile, her joy, his skill - and don't forget... It's difficult to sing harmony and back up vocals. This was a treat.
I have said it before and I will say it again. Is there nothing these two cannot do that turns to pure gold once it's completed? The most complex and angelic harmonies ever! Great arrangement.
I really love your version of this song! Well done. One small suggestion ... have the harmony girl hold the note longer at the 1:10 mark of the video. Rocket maaaaaaaaaaaaaaan. Just a friendly suggestion.
Amazing color palate in this video. Was this carefully thought out?? Great version of Rocket Man... The intimate duo version. I'm always impressed by your arrangements! Thanks!!!
I cant say enough good things about these two. Two guitars two voices and they make a sound like that. Its a message to all the "muscian" punching code into computers, learn your craft
Total conceptual understanding taken to the next higher level. They always perform a better rendition than the original. How do they make that happen! Makes one wonder if they even realize they're doing that.
The fact that these two came together is proof that there is good in this world. I’ve never regretted watching one of their videos.
Amen, my friend. These two make me sentimental and misty eyed.
Exactly. Peace guys.
So true! I can forget for a bit that the world is in chaos and turmoil. Such a blessing and joy to watch. :)
No Doubt!!! Hope they play Mcgabes here in so cal USA soon!!!

Good wishes to you, internet stranger.

Tony on the guitar is a thing of beauty.
For sure!
And those vocals!
They both have the same name? New here.
The way Toni lights up on the chorus... so beautiful.

I absolutely adore these two gals. They can brighten up a cloudy day; turn rain to sunshine. Keep it up ladies. The world loves ya! 🇺🇸🤗🎶🎵

Incredible version. You two never cease to amaze me.

Greetings from Israel. Very hot here too...Being a big fan of Sir Elton, your cover is the best I've heared in a long long time! Cheers!
I've heard this song a million times. And heard Reina and Toni do a thousand cover songs.
And yet this still makes me misty.....
She have the Groove ... !!!
Your shirts and guitars go with the decor. :) Earth tones--ironic given the song!
re-listening this maybe the 100th time now, just realised that it would be cool if this was a 360 video
Thank you for your existence in our lives. Music is the essence of life. Gratitude for calming us down in such dark times that they will pass soon.
