    Hey Yan, been following your music for a while & just noticed you upload this amazing content & tutorials on RUclips!
    Ive been DJing for a year and I'm getting interested in producing, your videos might be the ones to make me start. Is there anything you recommend for starters?
    Thanks in advance! keep it coming

      Depends on what you need. I recommend you to read the Ableton Manual (Very useful for everything to start) [not only for beginners]. Advice yourself on Music production with Theory like what does every knob does or every audio effect.

    You have a very deliberate, efficient work-flow..... I guess that comes from using sampled material that you already know very well.
    Q. A lot of your EQ, dry/wet etc. seems to be according to very specific values (rarely round numbers.... 1.46 kHz 32% etc.) that you key straight in to the devices (rather than 'dial' in by ear) and from there only tend to tweak in very small amounts...... Are these personal go-to values that you come back to over and over or are they related to certain established mixing theory?
    ......I know mainstream mix engineers (rock, pop etc.) swear by a very rigid view of where everything ought to sit in the frequency spectrum, but I've always been very cautious of becoming formulaic.
    Cheers!

    • @YanCook
      @YanCook  Год назад +3

      The way I type in values with keyboard is an old habit and it's the fastest way to do it because of muscle memory))
      Also I know pretty well what most of the parameters do and sometimes I have some notes when I'm recording a video like this.
      So no mixing theory, just habits and experience 🙃

    Great video as always!
    I'm using a lot of your advices and after 5 years I came back to music production! SO THANK YOU!
    I've got one question.
    Let's suppose to arrange this track and finish it. After that, can we consider it ready to send as a demo, or it always needs a final mixing work? (I mean more specific).

    • @YanCook
      @YanCook  Год назад +3

      Well, you need to decide on that, when you think the track is finished))
      If your track gets signed by a label, they might ask for a pre-master and their engineer will master the track, but mixing is your job, it's a part of production.

    • @PeppeVeeDj
      @PeppeVeeDj Год назад

      @@YanCook Do you usually do everything during the creation process (like in all of your videos), or after all (arrangement, etc.) you come back to mixing?

    • @YanCook
      @YanCook  Год назад +1

      @@PeppeVeeDj Yeah, I do mixing during creative process and I can come back to it after the the arengement for some final touches.

    Hi Yan and thanks, i have a problem, when I right click on the utility gain, and click on show automation, I don't have the same configuration as you, I don't have the red dotted line that should be displayed, I can't do the automation in the piano roll, i have Ableton 11 Standard

    • @YanCook

      I do, some:
      Valhalla DSP reverbs, T-Racks EQ, Comp, Limiter and Meter for mastering, Vulf Compressor for low end, Pigments 4, Neold Warble and some Max4Live modules.
