The killer was in jail for the murder of his wife (under another false name) after he abandoned their daughter years latter at a trailer park. With one of the girls being his child it's assumed that the woman was a past girlfriend and those were her two children. He had a habit of killing his children and his girlfriends/wives with each new identity.

UPDATE: Three of the Bear Brook murder victims have been identified as 24-year-old Marlyse Honeychurch and her two daughters, 7-year-old Marie Vaughn and 11-month-old Sarah McWaters, who had been fathered by different men. All three disappeared from their La Puente, CA home on Thanksgiving 1978 after Honeychurch had an argument with her mother. She left California with her daughters and boyfriend Terrence Peder Rasmussen, whom Marlyse's family only met once. They relocated to Manchester, NH, where they both adopted aliases (Honeychurch as "Elizabeth Evans" and Rasmussen as "Robert Evans"). The last mention of Elizabeth Evans occurred in May 1980, when Robert was arrested for theft of electricity. Rasmussen is believed to have murdered Honeychurch and her daughters between 1979 and 1981, as he left NH in late 1981 with his girlfriend Denise Beaudin (who has been missing since). DNA testing has revealed that the fourth, unrelated murder victim was a daughter of Rasmussen, though her and her mother's identities remain unknown. Rasmussen died in prison in 2010, serving 15 years to life for the 2002 murder of his wife Eunsoon Jun, and remains the prime suspect in the Bear Brook murders.

@@DrDolan2000 there is a good doc about this, I can't recall the name or even what streaming service it's on but it probably wouldn't be too difficult to find if you google the names- I think I watched it maybe a year or two ago.
The one about the teens in Mexico is just so sad. The fact that they could be alive or they could be dying is just... It just gives me the heeby jeebies
And it gets worse. Months later fottage taken from a security camera (monitored by the mexican army) in one of the main avenues of the city revealed the image of the students being held and transferred by local police in official vehicles, but when the camera turns to catch the vehicles plates the image conveniently failed. So that's it, the last image we got was them being held by the police. Both the Federal Police and the Army knew about it but no one responded.
It's obvious they are dead, what's scary is that it was the government's doing.

astrwolf I mean...other than the story itself and the fact that Agnes supposedly married? The thing with the 12th Century is that it was a weird twilight zone era of difficult to get accurate accounts.
SOMETHING had to have inspired the legends, right? Some of the theories are pretty interesting (i'm partial to the displaced Flemish orphans/Chlorosis theory myself), perhaps the story has been embellished over time, but...the original story does appear in books from around that time period.

#8 hits close to home for me. My mom was friends with Shelley-Anne Bascu, one of the women who went missing on the highway of tears. It was neat seeing it in this video, since it’s mainly overlooked (a lot of the women are indigenous and their cases have been “ignored” because of the fact)

+Patrick Gabriel it's possible, but the fact that almost all the bodies were call girls that advertised on Craigslist gives them all a suspicious common link.
+Cyril I mean, you'd be surprised. At least, that's what I think. Even if it was linked, one can only assume it would have been one/several guy(s) murdering the girls and putting them at that beach for, let's just say, reliable dumping area. That isn't to say that it's interesting how something like that went unsolved.
Cyril I think group murders are more common considering large quantities of murders. Sure, you always hear about stories of "that one crazy famous murderer" that every town has but usually the idea is that they've murdered, say, 5 in their "career". I can only imagine so many dead bodies in one area being the work of either a group or a very very careful and patient murderer.

I honestly don't know why police don't just keep the discoveries quiet, then watch the area for a year to see who either drops another body or comes back to look. I get that they want to see if any citizens have any info that might help, but once they let it out that they know, they lose the advantage.

In regards to story 6, the code could have been encrypted using a one-time pad, making it literally impossible to solve, explaining why no cryptographer could crack it. A one time pad is also a very simple technique, so having fairly low intelligence isn't going to rule it out

In 1989 I was kidnapped while hitchhiking on the highway between Edmonton & Calgary, by a man who said he had killed many women. I escaped by mere luck. RCMP just blew me off even though I had the guy's license plate & his description. I believe the cops didn't care because I am Indigenous. Turns out several women went missing along that highway during that time.

You do know they did find the bodies of the students (#3) they were in a mass grave next to another mass grave of protesting students that had been missing months before this protest. I think the were less than 20 miles from where they went missing. The also believe they were killed that day they went missing as well.

The green children was solved a long time ago their father was a very abusive sheepherder who also used a lot of chemicals in the processing of the wool they were green from working with these chemicals their father eventually abandoned them in the woods where they managed to survive for a while the town's residents even knew the name of their father he skipped town after they were found their mother had died and I guess he just couldn't cope the surviving daughter because the son died soon after being found lost her green color within a week or two and grew up to be a normal woman
I have an update about the Bear Brook murders. The identity of the killer has been solved. His name was Terry Peder Rasmussen and he went on a cross country killing spree all throughout the 1970s to the early 2000’s when he was finally caught. He had many false names and aliases which is why identifying him was so difficult. He died in prison in 2010, but the bodies of the victims he killed and dismembered found in the barrels are still unknown.

I grew up in Bear brook less than a half mile from the location of where one of those barrels were found in Allenstown, NH! We used to hear about this all the time. Mr. Nightmare just letting you know if you look it up, it made WMUR news that the mystery is SOLVED

If I were to wager what that rock says, it has a depiction of the person who made it on the left, there are various maps denoting the location of things, like there are hills or mountains with a line going through them, and a little person for scale, showing where the trail is and its dimensions leading to where the village is, and then there's a depiction of the village with people in it.
This is common of our glyphs. It's to give the person traveling some instructions on where to go from there. My people are further west but not by much. The Great Lakes aren't far away.
Usually trees would be bent as well, saplings can be twisted to grow in various directions, so for centuries, a knotted tree that leans in the direction of a village or settlement would guide people. It was an easy way to maintain direction while in the forest without actively changing the environment.
This was and is that generally done with canoe paddles as well. If you knew someone was following you, you'd leave your paddle with the oar facing the direction at like an intersection of trails, so they'd pick it up and follow you there.
All of this stuff was generally pragmatic in nature, we have very elaborate and rich arts, but when you were leaving a mark somewhere, it was generally to communicate some form of information.
Directions and information about the nearby village was a main one. Also what fish and game was in the area, how people hunt there, if there's a powerful Midew in the area (medicine (wo)man), nearby sacred sites, all pretty pragmatic information.
Art for decoration sake is extensively practiced with dozens of techniques, from dying and weaving mats and baskets to intricately beading designs on clothing etc. Petroglyphs tended to function sort of like informational road signs lol.

Me and my ex bf actually unknowingly drove past some of those bodies hiding in the thick brush on Gilgo beach whn we were staying at his grandparents who lived in Long island back in 2008 before they were discovered...at the time I didn't know why I got such an unnerving and eerie feeling when we drove down that particular rd but once I found out I damn near crapped myself😮😮😨😨

The story about the Sodder family children and the fire is pretty interesting and disturbing. The fire wasn't an accident and there was some reference to the father having crossed someone who then threatened him. The whole story is just sad and weird.
