As a padres fan, it made me so happy Hader blew the lead yesterday. Maybe if he was willing to throw more than 1 inning, he would have had more experience coming into games like that

    • @jesusoftheapes

He was willing . He was a starting pitcher in his youth . The guy was put into the closer situation because of how great he is in that situation . No closer . Not even Devin Williams does well with extra work before a close. It is historically the worst spot any closer can be put into . It is not his fault as much as it was the Tigers playing better than the Houston boys. It was that simple . Sometimes it is not a blown game as much as a team win . These guys are getting hit more this season than ever before. good pitching is being hit more in 2024 than any season I can remember .

Quick shoutout to the boys for making the big decision to make Talkin Baseball the Trev/Jake/BBD show and letting Jim go do what he is best at. This show has really benefitted from it and Jimmy is killing it with his three things, morning show, and the increased breakdown frequency.

I cannot believe the Tigers beat the Astros. I’ve been cheering them on and they made like Jack and cutdown the beanstalk. As a young man, Vin Scully met Connie Mack, meaning that he was two degrees of separation from nearly every player in MLB history from 1886 until 2016. He rarely (if ever) made definitive judgments of the sort Kurkjian does making his morning coffee, and his name-dropping was always woven into some larger story or point, not just opining from on high, despite occupying the loftiest of perches.

Tigers has a great pitching strategy of using good relievers rather than starting pitchers. With starters, opponents can adjust to their pitching style in 2nd & 3rd rotation of batting. With relievers, batters can’t adjust since it’s a new reliever each time. Plus Tigers has great defense. This is how Tigers snuck into the playoffs and they’re hot. Tigers were the one team you had to avoid in postseason.

Can we just talk about how maybe the three Al central teams have a harder schedule than others despite the White sox? 3 still in the playoffs and twins were still competitive until the end of season.

The Astros were never up 2 runs in this game. Parker Meadows homered, 1-0 DET. Then the Jobe inning happens and the Astros score 2 runs

Braves were just too banged up to get past a really good Padres team, so I am not too saddened by the series loss. Very happy for the Royals and rooting for them to beat the Yanks

Braves just barely got in with their wheelchair.
At least you made the second game close.
