Great trucks long gone but never forgotten by us oldens
Great video. I still think even today that the S21 is still the most beautiful cab ever made. It follows the shape of the foden badge perfectly.
One of the Foden brothers branched out and manufactured his own trucks ‘ERF’ , but that’s another story , thanks for the videos 👍🏻😎
@@mzee5533 Edwin Richard Foden ‘ERF’ started out in 1933 👍🏻
Greatest trucks ever made
Unless you had to drive one of them.
@@gegwen7440 Yeah I bet I have only been in them with family members driving but I bet it’s hard work nice trucks though.
@@HarryStephenson Hated them myself with a vengeance and may (?) have driven one that appeared on the vid.
Once the foreign vehicles arrived (Scania / Volvo / ETC) no driver if they were honest would ever get behind the wheel of those plastic pigs again given a choice.
@@gegwen7440 Fair enough the Swedish makes like Volvo and Scania did completely beat the British makes.
I own a 2 stroke s21 ex hoveringham gravels , a foden s39 and a alpha there all amazing pieces of history
3.38 :- I recall as a child of having some models of these trucks made by Matchbox Toys.
Can you please do ERF trucks I would love to see the history on them.
On our list ;)
Just watched your ERF video - you've done a nice job there!
@@RailwayBobbie thx. The first pic of trucks are mine. In many of these trucks are this on the road.
@@RailwayBobbie have you got a link
@@rjhtrucking5429 Yes, it's on Fadil Ali's channel.
Your narration has improved! Way less exaggerated Nicely done! we have grown close to that same rate as you guys love the content!
I recall that Friderici in Morges had Foden trucks for their Middle East service.
Several years ago I was talking to an old truck driver who used to drive Foden eight wheeler 'Mickey Mouse' cabbed trucks for Hoveringham out of their Asham quarry site near Frome, Somerset. Although they looked impressive he said they were dead uncomfortable due to the drivers' seat being fixed to the back, rather than the floor of the cab.
Still see some of these trucks in my country.
Will you ever be able to do the history of Federal Motor Trucks?
They were one of the, if not the first truck manufacturers, makes sense. Plz?
Paccar should be ashamed for closing the Foden Brand, destroyed a British institute
I agree!.😤😡
In Portugal Foden was renamed as PODEN because in portuguese The word “fodem” means in english “they f##k”
Fodas!
A positive move. The letter change roughly means "They can..."😁👍
Interesting that you showed a Foden truck during WWII with two Wehrmacht soldiers posing in front of it.
Fitting daf cabs in 2000 was the demise of foden lorries in my opinion. Paccar should have left things the way they were . Two great wagon manufacturers gone forever ERF and foden 🚛🚛🚛🚛🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
great video. congratulations
1:25 Those have to be the fanciest wheels I've ever seen on any vehicles from that period. lol
The last Foden’s weren’t rebadged DAF’s as claimed. They went down the DAF line but they had different engines, trans and chassis to the DAF’s. It was calculated that for one Foden two DAF’s could be built and in the mid 2000’s demand for DAF’s outstripped supply and the writing was on the wall for Foden.
Foden also in the early days made massive steam engines for the mining industry
GREETINGS FROM PORTUGAL😉
Felicidades de Manchester que não fica longe de Sandbach o lugar da antiga fábrica de Foden😁
The wheels @1:15 are absolutely beautiful
ERF built diesel wagons before foden . Foden was forced to move from steam to diesel after ERF had set up its company in April of 1933 . Ernie Sherratt was ERFs leading truck designer until the late 60s .
One interesting point you forgot to mention is the prototype Foden Falcon, which would have been a re-badged DAF XF.
history of chrome would be great
The only good thing about the Foden Alpha was the C12 cat and 18spd roadranger they came with here in NZ.
Love the video. But can I see the full erf story
Coming soon ;)
Thanks you
Am watching from Jamaica and I love the show keep it up
I like foden alpha cab model
Made the best 8 wheeler tipper trucks
I never kneeeeew, that Hoden was purchased by PACCARRRRRRRR
Erf and foden semi honnor?
ERF next then best of British 🇬🇧👍🇬🇧
makes a video of Scania trucks
Berliet histery 😀
It's a crying shame that paccar killed it
