Large looks way better on you. You know, tanks were initially designed to wear small for both men and women, watches to be worn under the radar. This gordy XL is just too flashy and too big. Also, in my honest opinion, it shouldn't matter what movement is inside a cartier tank. It's about the brand name, the design, the story and the history. Who the hell cares the large has a quartz?? with buying a Cartier in general, the movement shouldn't be something to focus on like so many people do. And remember Muhammed Ali wearing a small sized tank on his large wrist, and it works! before people are gonna attack me, it's just my opinion!

It’s funny, I have a 7” wrist and I own the large Santos(it was actually a very tough decision between the large and medium) but I find the Tank XL absolutely huge. It wears real bog and like you, I feel a Tank should be understated. My Santos is more of a sports watch that can be worn with a suit but the Tank really is a dress watch, IMO…especially on the strap.

While I think the more classical way of wearing a tank is to go smaller or diminutive as you pout it, I think the XL fits just as well if we're following the trend these days. And I have to say, the XL has a more attractive dial.

Finally someone reviews the new tank collection on RUclips. I have bought the XL as I want the tank watch for so long time. But spending thousands of dollars on a Quarz watch makes no sense for me and you can definitely find a more elegant Quarz watch with lower price. The greatest SIN Cartier has done with this watch is replacing the much more elegant ALLIGATOR strap with this cheap cow hide one, and the multiple colours they come in only make them look even cheaper! The first time I came across this watch was an Asian man in glasses, wearing a beautiful suit, crisp white shirt and shiny high end shoes. His tank had the original shiny ALLIGATOR strap. He really made an impression on me, and that's what I think how this watch should be dressed with. Cartier throws in a cheap cow hide strap while quietly increasing the price of this watch is unforgivable - and don't even think we haven't noticed, whoever came with with this wicked idea in Product Planning!

Definitely the Large for a 7in wrist. I have a 7.25 wrist and would go with the large as well. It's too bad it doesn't come in a mechanical movement. Maybe they are saving Tanks in that size with a mechanical movement solely for their Louis Cartier line of tanks? I love Cartier, but sometimes all the sizes, date/no date models (this one looks way better without the date window!), and movements confuse me a bit. There are lots of options.

Coincidentally, we have the same wrist size, so that I could see that the XL, while not traditionally diminutive, looks really great especially with that dial! Watch sizes have evolved for both men and women, and I prefer a larger size which I think is actually more masculine in appearance.

Love your reviews and love my Tank Must XL. I admit I bought mine before seeing your review but I agree with all your points. I can't wear leather and the XL was available with a nice steel bracelet (well worth the upgrade IMO). The watch looks great on my 7.5" wrist and is super comfortable and I am able to keep it on all day when I work whereas I must take my Tag off when I work as its simply too bulky. As an Architect I appreciate the timeless design and the value represented vs its nearest competitor the Reverso could not be ignored. From my point of view, and also my recommendation is to go for the XL one, and this is not for the size (what looks great in your wrist) but also for the movement. Same feeling. Actually cartier calls the "L" as "LM" (large-medium?). Just seen the Must in boutique and there is a significant jump in size from LM to XL. The in-between size will b nice.

XL looks much better on your wrist, plus there's no way I'm spending thousands on a Quartz watch.

Something is not right with the date window. Should not it be lower? Also the negative space between V and the date is not my fave thing. Thanks for the vid, man.

I think you're right: The Tank is all about classic elegance and should therefore be on the smaller side. Even Muhammad Ali wore a tiny Tank on his tree trunk wrists, right? I also think a Tank doesn't need a date or second hand or any fancy dial decoration. It is a very pure, minimalist design, and nothing should get in the way of that. Get the "Large" model. Personally, I have tiny wrists (any round watch above 38mm looks ridiculous on me), and I'm very much drawn to the "Small".

I had the same back and forth with the large and XL, but ended up buying the XL (note: for my 6.5" wrist). It definitely pushes my line for "wearability", but ultimately looks acceptably proportionate, even on my wrist. The rounded brancards on the new Must make the watch wear smaller than the Tank Solo predecessor, and really my decision was fairly easy due to the guilloche dial, date function, and mechanical movement on the XL. Great video! (and also love the low-key roasts lol).

The Cartier Tank is, in my opinion, one of those watches that looks better with a smaller profile. I’d venture to say that even a small works well with men for this type of style. That said, both sizes look really good.

This is my next watch.... BTW its not so much the difference in Size that differentiates the XL from the L. Look at everything you lose by going with the large! I want that In-house movement, Date, and Guillochet pattern and I want it now!!! One final thing, what size wrist you rocking?

Went to try the XL on the wrist in an AD today. Holy Moly was it huge… I mean like genuinely enormous, it’s hard to believe based on the numbers. I’ve got the same wrist size of just under 18 cm.
It really is a bit of a shame, as all the specs and pricing seem so attractive!

I can fit both the large and XL in my collection. I find that the large looks kinda weird when wearing tshirts and the XL looks bad when wearing anything with long sleeves.

  • @shuying2368

The XL is more versatile IMO.
They look a bit more suitable with casual style outfit.
The large on the other hand is perfect on your wrist for more formal outfit

do note, not all MUST DE Cartier vintage are Quartz, some are handwinding (or auto - probably not)

  • @BAF605
    @BAF605 11 месяцев назад

I own the Reverso Classic Medium Thin which is much smaller than this watch yet JLC have put a manual wind movement inside. Cartier missed a trick by not making a choice of mechanical or quartz movements in at least the L or XL sizes. The L would probably suit me best but I'm going to buy the XL. As you say even with recently diminished Rolex grey prices the XL still looks a steal. I bought the JLC way before recent price hikes. Cartier are offering very good value relatively at entry level luxury. Will it last??

It is likely that you want a steel bracelet some day in the future as leather strap is so quickly worn out. I have the exact Cartier must with steel bracelet. It looks much larger than the same size with a leather strap. So get the large.

Still liking the XL? The email interest is the in-house mechanical movement vs quartz. For me, personally, that is a big factor. I do agree with comments about it being extravert but that also means that it can be a dress watch and casual. So, the flexibility is good to have IMO. For me, I'd go gold but wouldn't we all if we could!

  • @nimnuan96

I think it also depends on your character. The large looks introverted and humble. The Extra large is for more extroverted outgoing. I might not explain very well as English isn’t my mother tongue.

I have a similar size wrist to you, the tank must XL feels a bit too big with the strap yet it felt a tad better on the wrist with the bracelet. However, after trying, I think i prefer the balanced case design of the tank americaine or the santos, perhaps a reverso.

  • @quincyzmah703

XL is right for you. The iconic and classic design of the Cartier Must with a modern size is a winner, IMO. Plus, I hate when a man wears a watch that looks petite. Ick.
