I’ve seen this video about a 100 times. the choices of shots whilst making a cocktail, stirring, sipping, also using one’s hands while talking and then also of course what’s being said, just do so much justice to the watch. The other hodinkee video I’ve seen this many times was the one about the Tudor gmt.
A man who wears a gold Cartier, drinks exquisite coffee, followed by a Negroni... I like this guy! Beautiful watch, thinking I need to add a Cartier Tank Solo to my collection. I'm a sucker for timeless designs and the fact this has remained unchanged for over 100 hrs is outstanding.

I am 90% through Matt's book "A Man & His Watch" and loving it. The Tank is a historic watch. It is a gentleman's watch. It's not for everyone, but I thought it looked right at home with Matt's build and his choice of clothing. I thought it was interesting when Matt said he picks his clothes, then chooses his watch for the day. I find for myself, it is often very much the opposite. What I am I doing today? Then I pick the watch. Then I pick the clothes :)

love his book, and i am also a Cartier watch owner, happen to own a Tank as well, one of my best watch that i own next to my Seamaster.
Louis Cartier designed the Tank, inspired by the Renault tank in 1917, the first tank with a rotating turret. Cartier presented the prototype to General Pershing, he commander of the US forces in France. The design therefore is 101 years old, grew out of the Great War, and worn by people like Gary Cooper and Igor Stravinsky. Oh yes, and "Black Jack" Pershing. Good enough for me.

Very beautiful but i much prefer wearing a 24x30mm sized. It brings me to the old fashion vintage style of some decades ago. Worn by Muhammad Ali, Steve Mcqueen, Giorgio Armani, Andy Warrol, Clarke Gable, Cary Grant, Truman Capote, Alain Deloin, Gary Cooper... it's exquisit, tres chic and much more sophisticated IMHO.

Yes, he states in other sources that his favourite cocktail is the Negroni. A classic (that i personally hate because it's so bitter), the ingredients and the composition are very oldschool:
3cl Gin (he uses Hayman's here)
3cl Campari
3cl Sweet/Red Italian Vermouth (can't 100% see which ohne he uses, Looks very Close to a Cocchi Barolo Chinato but you should be ok with any sweet one from Coccvhi, Mancino or Antica Formula)
Garnish with an orange zest after mixing the three parts in a mixing glass.

I like the Cartier Tank Solo, and I love the Tank Louis Cartier with its mechanical 8971MC calibre. But this type of upper class, wine-swilling image that's constantly portrayed by these obnoxious, pretentious people whist wearing the Tank puts me off ever wanting to ever actually own one.
You make the watch, the watch doesn't make you. You could easily wear the Tank Louis Cartier with jeans and a white t-shirt. Not sure what was so obnoxious and pretentious in this video? Was it the coffee or Negroni? You'll find snobbery in any corner of brand enthusiasts.

The recipe is:
1oz Campari
1oz Sweet Vermouth
1oz Gin
Add all ingredients to a rocks glass with ice and serve with a slice of orange peel

Disagree here. I would not have bought a Tank b/c of a Hodinkee video b/c I thought Tanks were too effeminate. However, I do have a ref 2608F that sat in my watchbox waiting for me to put on a suit. This vid gave me new context to wear something I already owned.
